I am writing this to warn future customers about my experience at Skydive Spaceland Dallas with tandem instructor Jahn Carlo Picado. Skydiving is a premium, high-stress bucket-list activity. Clear instruction, basic communication, and professional treatment should be the minimum. I did not get that. If you are assigned Jahn Carlo Picado and he seems unfriendly, rude, or curt, ask for a different instructor immediately. Do not make the mistake I did. During pre-flight ground training, he only briefly showed me how to lift my hands, squat toward the door of the airplane, and hold a body arch. He did not demonstrate or have me practice the leg-lift position used for landing. I went into the jump without that preparation. In the air, communication was almost nonexistent. The only thing he asked before exit was a generic "Are you ready?" I was given no warning and no countdown before the parachute opened. He pulled the cord without telling me. The opening was an instant, hard deceleration, and I felt a sharp pain in my right leg. Only after the canopy was already open did he ask, "How do you feel?" It felt like the question was for the camera, not for me. Under canopy, he did not check or adjust my harness. The contrast was obvious. My friend's instructor, Erik, checked and adjusted her thigh straps after deployment without her having to ask. That basic attention was not given to me. On landing, I struggled to lift my legs as high as he wanted. I was dealing with an adrenaline rush, pain in my leg, and a position that had never been practiced with me on the ground. He became aggressive, swore at me in the air, and shouted that he was going to "have to fucking save my life." After that, he said nothing else to guide me. I was terrified and thought we were going to crash. I did my best to get my legs up, and we finished in a standing landing. After we landed, he did not ask if I was okay. He pulled my harness off without a word and told me to get out of the area and wait in the lobby. During the post-jump video interview, the videographer, Juancho -- the only staff member who was polite and encouraging -- asked if I would do it again. I said yes to keep the moment positive for the camera. Jahn stepped into the frame and snapped, "You should not be doing this." I was humiliated. This also affected my friend, who jumped after me. Before her flight, he pointed at me in front of others and had her practice the leg lift on a training picnic table because I "couldn't do it" -- the same landing position that was never practiced with me. The rest of our group of five had a good experience, including my friend on her jump with Jahn on the very next load. Her video shows a patient, conversational jump. He talked with her about his family. My freefall and canopy ride were silent except for that one question after deployment. My friend and my husband also jumped with an instructor named David, whom they described as wonderful. From what I saw and experienced, I was treated very differently. When I reported this at the front desk, staff defended Jahn instead of looking into what I described. I was told "skydiving is not for everybody," and that "something must have happened" for an instructor to act that way. That put the blame on me. They also gave me an incorrect email address for manager Brian Lane. I found the correct domain online and emailed him. A small typo sent the first message to a corporate marketing director, who forwarded it to Brian Lane. He said he would look into it when he returned from vacation on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. In the response submitted by Paula, she mentions that she tried calling on September 23, 2026. I haven't spoken to Paula. The only person who called me on the phone to talk to me was Brian Lane. There is no voicemail or email that was sent to me. After I missed one call from Brian, he did not call back, did not respond to my follow-up emails, and did not leave a voicemail. When I called his number directly, the call was cut and went straight to voicemail. The other false claim put there is there were several (meaning more than one) interupitons from my group while instructing me. When Jahn Carlo Picado was showing me how to raise my hands my husband tried to show me to raise the hands, and Jahn Carlo Picado immediately shut him down saying 'Amigo Please' and my husband raised his hands in surrender and immediately backed off and did not interrupt him again. A one second interruption that was immediately cut off my the instructor does not justify the abuse and harassment that I have faced. Brian Lane on the call tried to justify the lack of rapport with the instructor on this one second interruption and is now falsely claiming that people from our group interrupted several times. I would not jump with Jahn Carlo Picado again. If I were assigned to him, I would ask for a different instructor. read more

We arrived as a group at 8:50 a.m. As of 2:00 p.m., more than five hours later, we still had not jumped. It felt like our group was being deprioritized because people who arrived after us were repeatedly taken ahead of us. There was no respect for our time and no clear solution. The food was also poor quality and extremely overpriced. What made the situation even worse was that after I posted a review, a manager came to our group, loudly called out my name, and confronted me about my comment. Instead of trying to solve the problem or provide a realistic jump time, he focused on defending the business and talking about their numbers. I have skydived somewhere else before, and the preparation and instructions took about 30 minutes. I understand that delays can happen, but waiting more than five hours with poor communication and then being confronted for leaving honest feedback is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this place. Do not waste your time or money. read more

Definitely would do it again! I decided to celebrate my 30th skydiving for the first time. So the day before one of the receptions called me to push my time a little later because of weather forecast (with my nerves being high as it was I felt more comfortable with them knowing they care alot about your safety just by watching the weather) and Kyle was my flying partner and Daniel was my video/ photographer. They were awesome and goofy! And really nice! Kyle made it a breeze, explained everything to me step by step, but as everything was in motion he still told me what to do in the actual process. Kyle & Daniel answered any questions I had, again THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year with my sister. read more

I went skydiving on September 27 at Skydive Spaceland Dallas. My experience was 1000/10 would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to go skydiving or/and get certified. This was my first time skydiving ; the safety instructor made me feel comfortable and at ease, very funny dude which made it better! My instructor Juancho is the absolute best he reassured me that everything was going to be fine and everything came out perfect! I chose the ultimate package so I had a great pleasure of having Georgie as my videographer. The video he took came out amazing and I'm absolutely content that I got the ultimate package! Everyone working there is nice! I was smiling from ear to ear from beginning to end, so much that I purchased my second tandem jump that same day! I can't wait to schedule it and experience it all over again! read more

This was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life. This is definitely an activity for an adrenaline junkie and daredevil. The check-in process was smooth. they make you watch a safety video, you wait in the waiting area until it's your turn to be called, and when it's your turn they get you set up in all of your gear to take flight. I did buy the selfie video package and it was definitely worth the buy. They also have food on site, which was great since you're going to be there about 3 to 4 hours. If you enjoy the experience, I highly recommend getting the second jump for $99 while you're at the facility. read more

My triplet 18-year old HS senior sons and I went skydiving today at Skydive Spaceland Dallas as a Christmas present to them. David Cardenas and Katie McGavock were our tandem instructors. Both were awesome! David jumped with me and one of my sons. He made me feel very comfortable both prior to and during the jump. Katie jumped with the other two boys, one of whom is on the ASD spectrum. She was awesome with him! We all had a blast and it will be a family memory we talk about for the rest of our lives! 5/5 Experience MUST DO AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!!! First: Jade was my videographer and she did SO GOOD! I am including two snips from my video below (amazing right?!?!) Brian was my tandem instructor and made sure I was safe, was having a good time, and kept the mood light because I was NERVOUS! Do yourself a favor and request that pair ^^ when you jump. They're amazing. Next: I was super nervous about jumping (I went alone), and the second we jumped off the plane I knew I made the right decision. It was so much fun! Parachute part did get my motion sickness a little (FYI) if you get sick. Recommended activity! Do not over think it, just try it out. You'll have an awesome time! read more

Let start with the front desk, that where so on point, with making you feel right at home. From the time I walked in I was all smiles, every step of the way. Then in the quick video class it make you feel confortable with laughter and to ease all the seriousness that really if doing on with jumping. Then I meet Keith my diver, the moment that changed my life, because he make it so easy to get prepaid for the jump, on the plan, during the jump and at the end. This place was very friendly in making sure everyone was good. And Tom ( a friend of mine husband) meet me in the parking lot for the very first time, gave a a big hug and let me know that If I needed anything he will be right there. I was getting high 5's, hand shake and hug from strangers, to help me on this journey. They make you fill like you can do anything you want to. Yes I already paid for my 2nd jump. Thanks Skydive Spaceland of Dallas, your the best. read more

I went here because my friend Donaldo goes sky diving here and I was very nervous to jump. I wanted a place where someone I trusted could help me through the nerves. All the staff there is amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable and chill. They explained the entire process and told me what to expect and what not to expect. I had honestly only gone in to watch first, because although I've always wanted to do it I was still scared. I wanted to see if I could muster up the courage to jump by watching others jump and observing the whole process. Well, I ended up jumping after talking to everyone. I don't remember all the names but everyone made the whole experience very enjoyable...and I would love to do it again! read more

So I went here with a friend who jumped a few weeks ago. I haven't ever been skydiving but I've done some adventurous things (hang gliding, zip lining, etc.). Space land was way better than the other adventures. They explained everything at every step and at no point was I overly scared of jumping out of a plane at 14k feet with Solomon (who is awesome btw). We arrived at around 1030 and we were done by 1230. The whole experience is pretty life changing but it only lasts 8 minutes or so. 15 minutes for the climb out, 1 minute free fall, and 6 minutes from when YOU pull the cord. The views are epic and the experience itself is epic. It is a little pricey but do you want to skydive with the lowest bidder? They have a great offer for repeat customers and they treat you right the whole time. I'd highly recommend going and asking for Solomon!!! read more

The time the instructors take to reassure students that our safety is paramount certainly helps alleviate any fear. The exhilaration of jumping the first time cannot be expressed with words. had the best experience of my whole life skydiving with you guys. I wish I would have done it before. The employees in general make you feel very welcome from the moment you arrive to Skydive Spaceland to the moment you leave the facilities, everybody make you feel a valued customer. My instructor Ashley made me feel so confident and secure that I didn't have a second of fear for what was coming, she is definitely the best! Josh, the videographer was also very fun, talkative and engaging, he is very professional. I would pick Ashley and Josh as my instructor and videographer over and over again. What a great team they are, you feel like part of the Skydive Spaceland family. I am so looking forward to my next time! read more

This was absolutely the best thing I've ever decided to do. From the time I checked in to the time I left, I felt like part of the team! I jumped to honor the fallen soldiers and police alike and to raise awareness to veteran suicide, on average 22 veterans take their own lives each day...22 until none... Katie put all my concerns to rest and that allowed me to fully experience the jump! It was a mission completed and I had So much fun making new friends! Plus, I left with epic video from Zach, my dude got some mad skills!!! This will be my yearly pilgrimage to honor our nation's heroes and and hopefully more if I can swing it! I'm seriously kicking myself for not doing this sooner in life, but now I have a lot of catching up to do and I know I'm in good hands with Skydive Spaceland Dallas! I made sure to purchase my $99 same day jump for future use! Hooah! Get some! read more

Great place! Very professional staff without alot of arrogance. 3rd jump, first at Skydive Spaceland. Ask for Daniel!

My wife and a friends of ours went skydiving for the first time for my wife's birthday. None of us knew what to expect, but saw phenomenal reviews for Skydive Spaceland Dallas. Turns out, those reviews were correct! I am writing this review from my wife's perspective as I didn't jump, but will also include what it's like to take in the experience from the ground. From the moment you walk in the door until you leave, you are doing more than just skydiving. You are experiencing what the skydiving culture is all about. The staff there is obviously a close knit group and they welcome you into their community with open arms. For example, when our group went up to jump, there were a bunch of professional skydivers on the flight. Our group stuck out like a sore thumb since it was obviously their first time and they kept to themselves because this is a nerve racking experience. But the staff and the other flyers would have none of that! Everyone on the plane treated them like they belonged in their group. There was encouragement and high fives and knuckle bumps and just an overall awesome vibe. It really helped my wife and her friend feel at ease before the jump. As far as the logistics of the whole process, I can only say the following, as an observer. I could never imagine that skydiving could be so safe. I had no interest in jumping out of a plane when I arrived, but after my wife's experience, I'm strongly considering going. See Skydive Spaceland Dallas doesn't just tell you that everything is going to be fine, they show you. Our "handler," for lack of a better term, was Carl. Carl is a 21 year marine PJ veteran with over 6k jumps to his name. When we arrived and until the very end, he answered EVERY question. I mean all of them. There was no question too basic for Carl to treat it like the most important question in the world. And he treated the observers and their questions with just as much importance as the skydivers. Carl and the rest of the staff used science to show you why skydiving is safe and uses real world examples so us "newbies" can have this information be relatable to us. Truth be told, I was impressed with the whole safety and preparation experience. I was so thrilled to get to take an active role in my wife's big day and not be relegated to the sidelines. My wife was never really concerned about the safety of skydiving, but I most certainly was. I entered Skydive Spaceland Dallas hesitantly and exited confidently. Although I have no frame of reference, I cannot imagine a more put together operation than this one. In closing, there is absolutely nothing not to love about this place. It is a safe, fun, and all around an amazing experience, whether you are a jumper or an observer. But I'll tell you this much, I think next time I'll be on the jumper side. Thank you Skydive Spaceland Dallas for an unforgettable day! read more

This place is incredible!!! I jumped for my birthday, and it was the best decision to date! My tandem jump was with Carlos, and my videographer was Woolslayer!!! Thank you both for a memory I will NEVER, EVER forget! From check in (the briefer provided us with humor and comfort) to check out (the video editor handed my a flash drive that I will forever hold dear to my heart), they make you feel comfortable and ensure/reassure that you have the best experience possible! They were even accommodating to my family by allowing them be a part of my experience--listening to the briefing and seeing my load up on the aircraft--which was a real treat for my toddler daughter! She will never forget this experience for the rest of her life, and I won't either! Thank you Skydive Spaceland Dallas!!! Carlos was super kind and gentle! He ensured that I knew signals and told me to just breathe and relax throughout the whole process! Woolslayer ensured I'd have an epic video and pictures! The precision is unfathomable! I've skydived at 2 places. The other pkace was rinky-dink compared to this. This place is huge, with dozens of skydivers staging all day long, multiple planes on constant rotation, and enthusiastic professional jump-instructors. Jumpers start with a short safety film, then wait their turn to suit up, harness up, stage for your plane, and JUMP! The only negative is that on a busy Saturday (like yesterday) the wait can be 5 hrs long! Wow. The wait is terrible, but worth it. Instructor Sarah was very efficient and informative - and best of all - fun! Two thumbs way up for this place; we already booked our next jump!! read more

I purchased a jump for my husband as a surprise for his birthday; he has mentioned wanting to skydive many times. We drove 2 1/2 hours to get there. That place has their stuff together!! From the minute he checked in until it was time to go, they walked us through each step. Carl was the one who explained how everything was going to work. Carl told everyone about the things that most people (me) are scared of and he made us feel relaxed and confident. His tandem instructor was Mark and the videographer was Brian. I cannot even explain how cool and professional these guys were! I highly recommend them to anyone considering giving skydiving a chance! We will definitely be back for more! read more

If I was going to send my mom out of a plane strapped to someone, David would hands down be my pick!!!!
