Sky diving has been on my bucket list since I was 10 years old. At Skydive Airtight, I was able to check that item off, which was great. But many aspects of Skydive Airtight were SO disappointing.
I had made an appointment for myself and 5 family members in early July. At this point, EVERYONE at Skydive Airtight that I was in contact with was amazing and super helpful!! Unfortunately we were not able to jump then due to overcast skies. We came back in October to complete the jump, and it honestly felt like a different place.
When I called to make an appointment, I talked to a woman named Sara, who was rude, and clearly inconvenienced that I asked about their availability for a couple of different days.
On jump day we show up for our 4:00pm appointment at 3:55pm. The atmosphere was very different from the first time we were there. Like everyone was a little on edge. Which we soon found out why.
While working on the paper work, Sara stated with a bit of sass, "Well, we will try to get everyone in your group up today. But it will be getting dark soon, and it's hard when groups show up late."
I said, "Are you talking about our group? We didn't show up late."
She replied harshly, "Well you certainly didn't show up early!"
I was a little shocked at the attitude, but brushed it off.
My brother, dad, and I all jumped with Steve-O, who was AMAZING! I can't say enough about him! He was fun, made us feel safe, but also joked around to keep us from getting nervous. I would give him five stars if I was just rating him!
My husband and sister jumped with Mel. He was a fine instructor. Definitely not the one who made the experience epic, but he got them safely on the ground. However, my sister paid for photos and a video, and unfortunately the video did not record any of her jump. The instructor's are the ones who buy their own camera's, and Mel admitted that his was old and he should have bought a new one earlier. My sister was in tears, she was so disappointed. My mother, sister, and I were told to talk to Sara, to remedy the situation. I honestly, in all my life have never interacted with someone so rude and hostile. We soon figured out why everyone else was on edge. At first she was simply going to refund the video, and brushed it off like it was no big deal. I stated that my sister was feeling a great deal of disappointment, and surely they could do something to make it right. She got really defensive, said that she already gave us a group discount - which is an automatic included discount if you jump with a group. It's on included on the website.. I said, "Well, that was automatically included, and it wasn't given to resolve the video situation." Then she said that she was going to give my sister $20.00 off the price of the pictures she bought, then she roughly, and abruptly said, "You guys need to step out now, and I'll refund something, or whatever." We were all baffled at her rudeness, after they had been the ones who messed up.
Two other staff members can up to us and said that they had a great time with us, they invited us back, and quietly added that they were really sorry for the video mess up, and really hoped that Sara would make it right. But almost looked nervous to say this.
Later, Sara talked to my sister and gave her the refund for the video, and only $5 off of the pictures! We went to talk to her about this again because she said she would give her $20, but only gave her $5. She rolled her eyes when we went to talk to her, and sharply said that the owner said that all she could give us was $5. My dad explained that it wasn't right to go back on her word. She just said that she already fixed the situation and there was nothing more she could do. I said, "Our group has paid over one thousand dollars to you today, and to make a stink over $20, and to go back on your word just isn't right." Her response was, "Well I'm sorry you all had a terrible time!" For every logical question we asked, or point that we made, it was met with a really rude or passive aggressive comment.
My dad later went back in to grab something that he forgot, and asked one of the staff members if Sara was the owner's daughter. We figured that no regular employee could get away with treating their customers so horribly. The staff member then replied, "Oh it's even worse!! That's the owner's girlfriend!!!" And shook his head. Well, now we know how she gets away with being so rude, condescending, and going back on her word.
Sara was no where to be seen the first time we were there, and the place seemed to be so much happier then. She seems to be toxic to the staff, rude to the customers, and a terrible reflection on the establishment. I would love to go back one day. But I will ask if she is working on a certain day, before I pick an appointment, and I would go somewhere else before having to interact with her again. Please make your appointment on a day that Sara is not working. She makes the whole experience toxic. read more
