Dr. Le was a wonderful dentist; It was the first time I'd had work done from him, and right away I felt very comfortable with him and the work which he did. Abel was the dental assistant, and he is one who has worked on me before. As always, he was very professional and personable. He makes one feel "at home" in the chair and gives me great confidence in his capabilities. Angel, the hygienist, is another asset to the Avondale office, as are Monique and November, the receptionists. ALL are super people who make my dental visits actually enjoyable!

After recently visiting other dental offices, I realized that cleanings should not be that uncomfortable. Though I do have a lot of respect for dental hygienists--their job of cleaning people's mouths is incredibly difficult, and I know I couldn't do this job myself. One time, they upsold me a very expensive mouthwash that cost over $50. I bought it because my cleanings were always very painful, and they claimed it would help by preventing buildup. But it didn't make any difference--it was a complete waste of money. I was a patient here for about five years, and another issue was that over time it became clear that communication was consistently lacking. The staff never directly explained their concerns with me. Good and timely communication helps prevent much bigger issues down the line, but unfortunately, that standard wasn't met here. Additionally, I never even knew who the actual dentist was--his name or even if it was the same person each time I visited. There was also a billing or coding error during one of my visits. Despite it being the office's responsibility to resolve and they actually promised to do so, I had to resolve the issue myself despite myself not being on the expert on the field. If you live in the area, I recommend exploring or at least looking into other options, such as Gentle Dental in Palm Valley or a private dental practice. These alternatives generally offer better continuity of care, lower staff turnover, and honest communication in difficult situations. And the dental cleaning to my honest experience is much less painful.

Again, after my consultation, I was waiting for the office staff to come speak with me about the cost of cleaning. Yes, I have to go back a second time to complete the cleaning, which is frustrating and inconvenient, but it could be worse. Yes, I was asked to put a deposit down for the cleaning, but I am sure this is because many people do not follow through. Again, it might be a minor inconvenience, but knowing I have the appointment is worth it, and they know I will be there. Great location easy to get in and out of the complex. I also have to say that several other patients were established that had a quick turnover compared to my initial visit, so I would say that overall, once you get past the initial visit, things will change within the office in the time you were there.

On a positive: The technicians on the floor are super friendly and do try to help make each patient comfortable. I usually come in for x-rays, cleaning, and I fill in my front tooth which I chip frequently with some sort of enamel and a UV light hardener. It's nothing permanent, but I'm OK with that. I'm normally taken care of the same exact day, but this time was a little different. The new dentist said she didn't have enough time to take care of me and that was that. They didn't fill my tooth, which is specifically what I came in for, but they were too busy to do it. Despite me calling the same day of my appointment and asking if they had an opening. It was clearly just a hand into my pocket as if they needed to make a quick $200 off some x-rays and the cleaning. Now it feels like it's more about the sale and less about the smiles. I've been a client since 2011. The most wonderful and original dentist passed away recently. This place has made a turn for the worst. Wouldn't recommend anymore.
