Sky High Moving came highly recommended to me. I was planning a move from Portland, Oregon down to Los Angeles, and had also been comparing prices for weeks. After hearing the recommendation and comparing the quotes I received, Sky High stood out in both. In addition to hearing good feedback from a coworker, they gave me the best quote and made my total into a flat rate, which most companies did not want to. They arrived the morning of with a clean truck, looking happy to work. Which was shocking because it was 6am! These guys were great. While one was packaging and wrapping my belongings, two were carrying the boxes and furniture to the truck. They seemed to have their own system going. They put on some music and got to it. They packed everything up nicely and even made the truck look like a Tetris game. The guys were very friendly and knowledgeable about the moving industry. They recommended other services that I needed to complete the move (e.g. I had a lot of plants that would need disposing, and a computer room full of old batteries). In addition to packing up my belongings, I asked if they could organize all the stuff at the drop off - which they did in half the time! Very happy with my decision. It appears there are a grip of reviews here to help increase their star rating. Trouble is if you look at the photos, they are mostly stock photography that can be purchase on Getty. They will ruin you planned move and stir that "oh no" feeling in your gut. DO NOT USE THEM. My wife and I planned a move well over a month in advance. We booked the time and they assured us that they would be at our home at 9:30 AM on a Saturday. They stated they would be bringing two movers to help with our move at a rate of $79 per hour. We were also promised a large truck that could handle a 2 bedroom townhouse. The nightmare begins with the movers showing up 7 hours late. Despite numerous phone calls, we were assured that they would be on time. Around 3pm we get a phone call from the truck driver that he can't find our house and had just exited in North Hollywood. I had to guide them down to our house. Next up, the crew that showed up was unequipped and dead tired from a previous job they had done the same day. It appears the company had booked these guys for two moves in the same day. Hence, they were late and unable to work efficiently. We spoke to the management and they said that they would try to give us a discount or something. It never happened. Also, they lacked the tools needed to removed large appliances. I had to use my own tools to undo cables and pipes for them to move gear. They couldn't even move a refrigerator without my help. I was lifting furniture while they struggled. Around 7pm, we call the management and ask for an additional mover because their current guys are too slow and too tired. The "management" who is this lady that always picks up the phone tells me that they have another mover in the area who can help out. This mover calls me directly and tells me he has NO TRANSPORTATION and wants my wife or I to come pick him up from Hollywood to come help out the move. Ummmm....I am the customer. Why should I be handling their personal pick and drop off? Also, we have two little babies that we can't just leave alone with movers. Side note, I never bothered to go get the third mover. Anyhow, after getting the truck loaded, it turns out the truck is not big enough for all the furniture we have. So we had to leave a lot of things behind for me to come pick up the next day on my own. They started at 4pm and finished loading the truck by 2am! Then we got to our new home 1 hour away and my entire family had to help these guys unload the truck. Come Sunday morning at 6am, the truck is finally unloaded. Their driver is on the verge of falling asleep ( he was already half dead when he showed up for the move) So, like any responsible consumer, I called their management a bunch of times asking for at least a price break or something to make good on the service. Every time I call, this lady would say let me check with the management, let me talk to the owner and NEVER CALL ME BACK! Finally, she said that the best they could do was $20 bucks off the gas and a 5% discount. She justified it by saying her prices were competitive and basically, "we can't go any lower because we are so cheap and promise professional service." I asked if this is what you call professional service, and she said yes. I told her that she really needed to rethink the difference between pro and amateur hour. Anyway....... If you are looking to be off schedule, deal with incapable movers, damaged goods, and ultimately deal with management who does not care about their customers...go with these "movers"...you won't be disappointed. read more

Fantastic!! I found this company on Craigslist, and I was a bit concerned at first since I had never used movers before. When I first called they were nice. When I sent an e-mail to confirm our appointment, they were prompt with the reply. When I asked for the license and bonding number, they provided. When they showed up, they were on time. My lease was up in a week and as the procrastinator that I am, I had nothing packed. In 5 days I managed to pack my room and bathroom. Sky High Moving packed my office, kitchen, guest room, and 2 other bathrooms in a matter of 3 hours! I'm still amazed at their speed and the fact that i packed 25% of what they did in 5 days. The 3 guys I asked for were pretty slow I had to help them out move and unload because they were so slow, when got to new home wanted $500 payed in cash or was not going to unload. SCAM!!! Run the other way! File a police report if you have been robbed by them! This moving company loaded my items and demanded double fees in cash, driving time and fuel fees. They set one price in the beginning and demanded unreasonable amounts of cash before unloading my goods. After doing some research, apparently this is a common moving scam. Also, they shrink wrap items without your permission and try to charge you $60 per roll afterwards. The charge you 4% more for paying with a credit card to deter you paying with a credit card which would enable them to be traced by police and other authorities. The workers were not even real movers. They moved my items very, very slowly to try to rack up more moving time. Also, I heard one of the workers arguing on the phone with the woman who books things about charging me for shrink wrapping. Please do not support this business in any fashion. If you have been scammed by them please file a police report and post your review here on yelp. Notice that their address does not identify a credible business address to make it hard for authorities to track them down. However, a police report has been filed and they will be caught! Sky HIgh is a company i would HIGHLY reccomend for your next moving experience. I used sky high to move into my new apartment with my boyfriend because we did not want to move all the things we had on our own. BIG PIECES like a wrap around couch, our king sized bed, and our large kitchen table were all moved with precision and ease. Not to mention the movers showed up 15 minutes early instead of getting there late. This was good because I had work later that day. All our things that normally would have taken us 2 days to move were moved in less than 4 hours. They were also very understanding about our dog being around while they moved everything. I had been so stress about moving for weeks and SKY HIGH will never make me worry about moving again! I know that moving doesnt have to be this impossible process! it can be quick and easy. We did a short move within Glendale, but have some antiques and items needing special handling. They called ahead of the move to confirm time and location, very professional. They arrived on time, carefully wrapped all furniture and were fast and efficient. They were pleasant and friendly as well. Everything was moved safely, took some extra time but it was due to our now being upstairs in a larger building, which costs extra, but they work on a time basis, so fair is fair. Our experience was a positive one and we would definitively recommend them. We also had a friend move to Orange County and her experience was positive as well. read more

I came across this company last minute and was a bit hesitant because of some of the bad reviews. I could not have been more happy. I had booked the move last minute and called them the night before the move. Yuriy and James showed up the next morning and were very helpful with the wrapping and packing of my stuff. I have a lot of china that was passed down from family and Yuriy treated each piece like it was his prized possession. They did a great job at packing me up in just a few hours and were able to drive over and unpack me in less than 3 hours! These guys were great. I know one of the reviews mentioned poor management and that's unfortunate but surprising because I had great customer service from the night I called until I closed the contract. In fact, one of the ladies from the office called the next day to follow up on the move. So my experience was great! DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! When I called Sky High to see if they were available on the dates that I wanted to move the lady on the phone assured me they could move me on any of the dates I requested. I told her that I had a one bedroom apartment on the first floor and that I was moving everything into storage. I also told her that I had a lot of things in the garage to move. She assured me that two movers could handle it in four or five hours and that the price would be something under $400. On the day of the move, the movers showed up an hour late. I was ready for them with almost everything boxed and wrapped. They started out at a leisurely pace and about noon they took a break and went off and smoked a joint. After that things really began to fall apart. The two movers negotiated with each other everything they moved. I jumped in and started to help move things and tried to pick up the pace. Finally after four hours the truck was loaded. When they met me at the storage unit they told me that they had to collect for the move or they wouldn't unload the truck. They estimated an additional two hours to unload the truck. The bill was up to over $700. I jumped in and began to help with the moving. After two hours the truck still wasn't unloaded and they told me I would have to pay for additional time or they would just unload everything and leave it on the curb. Finally with my help everything was unloaded and put into the storage unit. I had to pay for an additional two hours and the bill was close to $900. I asked to speak to a manager about the bill. It was so far off from the estimate and I hadn't expected to be doing the heavy lifting. I got the lady on the phone that had given me the original estimate and she said the best she could do was take $20 off the bill. After a ten hour day the movers that had been moving me were booked to move someone out of a fourth floor apartment. They were scheduled to show up at 5:00PM but finished my move at 7:30PM. I pity the person they went to after me. When you call Sky High they will sound very friendly and helpful but their scam is to under estimate the time it will take to move then hold you hostage for the extra money. The lady who I talked to on the phone receives a commission on the hourly rate that is paid so it is in her interest to lure you in with promises of a quick and inexpensive move. In the end I felt like I had been played. I wouldn't trust these positive reviews. They sound phony. Do NOT use these movers. We had a move scheduled for today and they were supposed to call last night to confirm. I called them about 8:30 and was told they couldn't do the move and could do it on Sat. or Sun. My storage facility where the pick up was is closed on weekends, and I told them my husband took a vacation day for the move. She said she would call me back after talking with the movers. Guess what? Still waiting for the call! I already notified the storage facility I would be out today, and my husband wasted a vacation day for unprofessional movers and liars. I called this company to make a reservation to meet me in Woodland Hills as I was coming from Riverside County. They were to meet me at 130pm yesterday 8/9/14. I got stuck in traffic I called the company to let them know I was going to be running late I got a voice mail nobody ever called me back I called 3 * and a friend of mine also called 2 or 3 times. My leasing office went outside two or three times looking for them to advise we would be late. No movers ever came for them to advise. Not 1 person from Sky High moving returned our phone calls Their movers were a no show!! I'm driving a 26 foot moving truck by myself expecting movers to be waiting for me. So here we are. Sitting at our destination waiting for Sky high movers?? No movers or return phone calls nothing! Have to return the truck same day. This company is Terrible!! How do you leave somebody stranded like that and they knew the scenario they knew I was by myself they knew where I was coming from. I would never refer them to anybody!! When I made a reservation I was slightly concerned as they did not request a deposit or credit card I asked about that they stated they do not require a deposit. How do I know you're going to be there oh will be there! Well we know how the rest of the story goes. I got stuck with no movers and had to wait till the following day to find a couple husband & wife who actually are movers through u-haul and they came over at last minute and they were freaking amazing!!!! THE.WORST.MOVERS.EVER!! NOT PROFESSIONAL MOVERS! Total scam! They give you a "fixed rate" over the phone, underestimate the time and truck space needed for your move, then hold your personal belongings hostage until you pay WAY more than the amount quoted. They were over 2 hours late, didn't start actual packing for at least another hour, were at my house until 5:30am packing/loading and then tell me all of our things won't fit in the truck... at 5:30AM!!! Me and my 2 kids (ages 2 & 5) had to sleep at our next door neighbors house! They rented another trailer for the rest of our belongings and hired a "professional packer" to pack our things floor to ceiling of the truck since the initial packers/loaders didn't do the job right the first time, and expected us to pay for it without notifying us first of the additional costs. So... what was supposed to be 1 day packing/loading, spilled over to 2 full days. When they got to the new house, they wouldn't unload our things until we paid an additional $2K for the "extra costs (extra materials, extra gas because the truck was too heavy, etc.)," which my husband and I spent another extra day arguing, putting us 2 DAYS BEHIND SCHEDULE. My husband had to take a day off of work to unload the truck, which he did most of because the movers were so tired. In addition, these idiots moved the truck without closing the back door, so my husbands work desk fell out and broke into pieces! Their packing was so unorganized, I had to literally go through all the boxes to find things because random things were packed in random boxes and were not labelled. I've gone through all of them and am missing a few (expensive) things. Now I have to call and file a claim for our damaged and missing items, which I'm sure will be another nightmare... I think I may have to just kiss them goodbye... smh... I thought I would go for cheap movers because of our budget, but this was such a nightmare. I didn't fully believe the bad reviews because I thought it would be hard for movers to really get good ratings. But if you've read about moving scams, this company is a CLASSIC MOVING SCAM. PLEASE save yourself a nightmare! Get another moving company to move you! First we were promised 3 movers but only got 2 which resulted in a much higher price in the end. They broke the glass on a vintage hutch, broke 4 legs off of our dining table, broke the roller off of a shop vac and used a unopened box of hardwood flooring as a ramp for their truck which left the flooring in small pieces. The truck was inadequate in size which meant that we had to get another truck and move the remaining furniture ourselves. They went out to dinner before unloading the truck and therefore took 4 times as long to get to our new house! When I finally got ahold of Victoria, she offered me $100.00 for my trouble! REALLY? Well, we never saw the $100.00! I have called her 10 times in 7 days and she has not returned my call. Horrible Horrible Horrible RUN for the HILLS!!!!!! I was in a bind and needed movers within 24hrs. I originally booked 3 movers for 3:30pm; two movers showed up at about 3:45pm and when I asked about the 3rd person I was told that he didn't feel like moving that day. ((((THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY RED FLAG)))) I was quoted a flat rate of $59/hr by A Victoria Tru she is the "office manager". I was moving into a storage unit and the facility closed at 9pm. The two movers arrived with my belongings at the unit at 8:04pm; there was no way they were going to finish by 9pm. Before he would begin to unload the "foreman" told me I would have to pay in full. He said if I paid with a card they would charge an additional 4%. So I went to an ATM machine and withdrew the cash. Regarding the amount I had to pay; they secretly charged me for tape (even though I had my own tape) and they charged me for other supplies that they claim they used; my bill came to $480. for 6.5 hrs of work. Now anyone that can do math realizes that 3:45 to 9pm (actually 8:50) does not equal 6.5 hours. Due to the facility closing I again had to talk to Victoria to see how we could finish the move. Victoria informed me that for the lovely price of $100 they would store my belongings over night. The next morning I email Victoria (calling their office is a JOKE NO ONE answers the phone) and I asked who do I need to coordinate with to finish the move. She never responded. I then received an phone call from a gentleman stating he was waiting for me at the storage facility. I hurried and got dressed and rushed to the storage unit. There were two new movers that I had never meet who informed me that I would need to pay $312 for them to unload my belongings. Using two cell phones I began calling the office, to no avail, I flooded the company with emails as well. Finally Victoria responding stating that I made a VERBAL contract with the movers last night and agreed to these terms. The were essentially holding my belongings hostage. I again went to the ATM to get the money. I then came and paid the funds and asked for my receipt; the receipt that I was given was the receipt from the night before they simply squeezed in new numbers in the break down of charges and then the total at the bottom still reflected the total from the previous night. When I asked for an accurate receipt I was told by the movers that only the office could provide that. I then called and emailed the office to no avail. Victoria and this company are scam artist I have filed a complaint with the department of transportation, the California Public Utilities Commission, and am contacting an attorney. I am SO SICK of COMPANIES ripping people off and getting away with it!!! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !!!! PLEASE find another company rent a uhaul and round up some guys; that will be much better than dealing with shaddy people. read more

Please DO NOT, under any circumstances, let this company near your belongings. My 2 bdrm/2bath apt move of 4 miles dragged into 3 days. These people provided an estimate and my move cost DOUBLE their estimate. BEWARE - they will demand payment after they unloaded some of your possessions. If you want the rest of your things, pay up. The office did not communicate with me. "Victoria" is utterly incompetent. EVERYTHING was out of her control; according to her, the company was not responsible for any of the delays and should not be held accountable for anything. They were nearly 1 hr late, brought 2 men instead of the 3 men I had requested (of course none of that was communicated to me by the company). It took them nearly 10 hrs to load a 2bdrm/2bath apt. Granted the elevators were slow, but 10 hrs - really??? They showed up my new place too late to finish unloading (nearly 9pm), so were supposed to come back the next day. I made it very clear they could not come by late in the evening, but had to be here early in the day. Did they??? Of course not. I had to call the company to find out what time they would come - "Victoria" did not bother to let me know what was happening with the rest of my possessions. Each time I called to confirm whether the truck was on its way, I was informed that it would be coming "later". Finally, I was informed that they would arrive at 8:30pm. Once again, that would have been too late to unload everything into my new place. So here I was, a 2nd day without my bed, my son's bed, or even a fridge. They finally came the next day and unloaded everything. Meanwhile, they would not negotiate on any sort of a break. STAY AWAY from this company. read more
