Stay away - especially for services where he has to follow up (such as video and even photobooth) Tony and his team were hired for MC services, photobooth, and videography for my wedding back in 2013. He showed up as MC, did a good job there, photobooth (had to hound him for the photos), but almost 5 years later, I still don't have my video. The trailer he sent me over half a year after my wedding started decent but just seconds in, the rest was garbage. It was basically clips of everyone dancing at the reception. Thankfully, I was able to get the raw footage of my wedding after consistent hounding and threatening to file suit against him ..and (some of somebody else's wedding too) but to this day, I still don't have our video. Prior to all of this, I had also recommended Tony to two other friends for their upcoming wedding after mine - one hired him for video (she got screwed the same way I did) and the other hired him for MC and photobooth (MC service delivered, photobooth pictures were sent to her weeks after consistent hounding by her and ME) Stay away - there's so many better and reputable vendors for hire. read more

I don't like giving poor reviews, especially to people whom I have worked fairly closely with when planning my wedding. However, it is now 3 months after my wedding and I have finally gained the courage to come out and warn future brides and grooms. I was referred to Tony Chen (owner of Sky Creations) by my wedding studio since I did not know where to start when looking for a DJ/MC and figured they would know best since they have been to so many weddings. Being that I had been procrastinating, it was 4 months before my wedding and most DJ/MC services have been booked. I made my first appointment to meet Tony with my then-fiance but an hour before the scheduled time, he emails me and asks if we can push our appointment back at hour since he was "running behind." I had no problem with that since I'll just grab dinner beforehand then, no big deal. I show up at 7:30pm and he is still with another pair of clients. He then proceeds to shove us into a little office to give us a very brief summary of his services/packages and costs and then had us watch video clips of his performances to waste time while he goes back to meet with the other two clients. He clearly overbooked us. After what felt like a long time, he came back to the room and brought us out to watch the timeline planning process with his other clients since they were to be married in a week. Yeah, WTH. We left after a few minutes. That instance was unprofessional in my opinion but Tony reeks confidence and is a really good speaker so I secretly hoped that that was just a one time incident, since I really did not have many choices especially because I wanted someone who speaks a little Cantonese during the wedding for my family. I met with another company a few days later and it was a disaster, so I had to choose the less of two evils so to speak. I met with Tony again a week later (in which he was tardy AGAIN) and booked him to be my MC, his DJ services for my ceremony and reception, and photo booth. I even half-joked that he better not be late the day of the wedding, but I was truly fearful on the inside. Most of my communication with Tony thereafter were done via email and by uploading my requests onto a website he provided me. He is actually quite good with emails which is great. I had a final appointment with Tony a week before the wedding to go over my timeline and then two days before my appointment, he tried to cancel on me because he has a event that day and his photographer cannot work. Um, WTF! I made this appointment a month in advance to ensure everything is smooth and does he seriously expect my schedule to be free one week before my wedding?! I have other appointments! I went ballistic. I confronted him about it in email and even called him, but he did not pick up. Moments later, he emailed to say he is available again. Oh, and of course he was late to that appointment too. Is it terrible to say that the day of the wedding, I was actually surprised he showed up given his record with tardiness? It's sad but true. So everything was fine, I went down the aisle and all that to my music. But as my husband and I turned around for the recessional music to leave the alter, SILENCE... We waited and the silence continued. Awkward. Finally in what felt like a long time my requested song played... starting RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A SENTENCE IN THE SONG! Like, "...ble melts like lemon drops. High above..." Mr. DJ, did you fall asleep? Could you not have at least started it in the beginning of a chorus or beginning of the song? THEN during the reception there was a terrible moment Tony made a surprise announcement that the bride and groom were going to sing for each other. I have no idea where that came from! I went along because I wanted to be a good sport but why on Earth would you do that out of nowhere? Little does he know I hate karaoke and I don't even do it when I am out with my friends let alone in front of nearly 180 guests?! A few weeks after the wedding, I was hanging out with my friends and I was told that my photo booth stopped printing out pictures during the reception. I was mortified. I requested for a partial refund from Tony but was denied because he said it was "only down for twenty minutes." Even if that was the case (which I clearly do not know because I did not have a timer), it was during the prime time when people were enjoying it. Not to mention the pictures were printed out in 2x2's rather than as a strip which I had requested. I then realized I never received my glow sticks which were in my contract as well! Tony then just ignored my emails even though he had always been good with them in the past. I just gave up. It is a lost cause and too stressful. That all being said, Tony does get the crowd very involved and is a ball of fire. High energy, a great speaker, good at improvising and making things happen when needed. The choice is up to you, but I cannot whole-heartedly recommend him. read more

This review is long overdue. Our wedding was three weeks ago and just now we have come back from our honeymoon. We are still talking about the great time we had. Tony did a great job getting all our guests involved and on the dance floor, and I mean EVERYONE. Our parents. Our grandparents. As other yelpers have eluded to, Tony has quite a few tricks up his sleeves. We really did not want the night to end, but sadly the time just flew by and before we knew it we were getting kicked out (luckily our catering hall actually let us stayed past the agreed upon time). There isn't really much to say, but if you are thinking about hiring Tony, just do it. You and your guests will thank you for it. We had quite a few people approaching Tony afterwards for his business card, so don't wait. read more

Tony was the MC at a wedding last weekend where I was a groomsman. I can't speak to any of the previous poor reviews, but maybe the man is trying to atone for them. He did an incredible job, working his ass off to get everyone onto the dance floor and having a good time. With 1/2 of the wedding guests being middle-aged/elderly Chinese people, this was no easy feat, but he pulled it off. He has just that right level of energy and enthusiasm where you think, any more than this and I want to punch him in the face, but he was straddling the perfect amount for an MC that was trying to get everyone up and active. He had a great sense of humor and undoubtedly led to a successful night. It was really fun, even though I was exhausted afterwards. He had everyone smiling and I can't help but smile when thinking of that night. One of my best friends had the night of his life thanks to him. Thanks Tony! read more

Tony was the MC for my wedding in August 2015. We were initially referred to him by our wedding coordinator who had nothing but great things to say about him. We basically had our guy book him for our event even without meeting him beforehand. When the time came to actually set our wedding music, we met with Tony just as we happened to read all the negative reviews here. We thought we had made a big mistake, but having met with Tony, we were reassured and confident that he would do a great job. I actually came out of that meeting relieved that everything would be handled on the day of. The day of the wedding, Tony really put his money where his mouth is. He was incredibly engaging and constantly stirred up the crowd whenever there was a semblance of a dull moment. He is bilingual in English and Chinese, drumming up even the old Chinese folks in the back to dance. I don't know about all the other bad reviews here, but afterwards, I heard nothing but great things about Tony from all of my guests. I would highly recommend Tony not just for his charisma and enthusiasm, but just for the fact that you have someone with over 30 years of experience handle all the minutia (line ups, announcements) and every other aspect of the reception with professionalism. His crew was also super professional and even took some amazing candid pictures that we got to keep. read more

Tony was the MC for my wedding and for countless number of my friends' weddings. When we met Tony at the first friend's wedding, we knew we wanted to book him for ours. And it seems that all our other friends had the same idea as we kept seeing him again and again! Whenever my friends talk about my wedding, they mention mainly two things, 1. What a great and fun wedding venue (New York Hall of Science), and 2. What a GREAT MC! Tony worked the crowd all night with his energetic and lively personality, and played music tailored for my crowd. What we loved most about Tony was that he was always on top of his game. Of course, my wedding, like all wedding, had its fair share of mishaps, but Tony didn't miss a beat. He diverted the crowd's attention while the mishaps were being taken care of, and got the crowd up and going before they even knew what was up. Please note, he will try to upsell you the photo booth. Although it's fun item and a nice add on for our wedding, I didn't really think it was needed - mainly as our venue had so many other activities that everyone could enjoy. read more

My then-fiancé and I had been recommended tony by our photographer. Our wedding was in November of 2014. Our photographer had said tony was great at livening the party and was bilingual which was important to us. We decided to give tony a call. Tony actually missed our first meeting saying he "forgot" about it. I should've known then to try elsewhere but rescheduled nevertheless. During our second meeting everything went smoothly. He showed us his previous photos and videos from weddings. He even showed us the photos from our particular. We proceeded to speak about what we wanted and needed. Because we wanted him to be our MC, we were told we had a minimum to meet. We were interested in the visual package where he provides another photographer who take photos of our guests and maybe the photobooth since we had decided on another place already. He persuaded us to take the photobooth from him because it would be more interactive. Afterwards he even told us he would give us a 20% discount because he missed our first meeting. We continued to keep in touch. However he took forever to reply. Sometimes weeks before we heard a response. He rescheduled a meeting we set a few days before meeting. With our visual package was a PowerPoint slideshow. We chose our photos and sent him a link. He told us he would send us a preview before the wedding which he never did. We kept pestering him even a week before and his response was "I will send it." We were worried the day of the wedding because we actually hired him for 5 hours but only needed him for 4 hours in the end. He had told us earlier he always shows up relatively late maybe half hour before he was needed. Because of the spotty communication, we were worried he wouldn't show up at all. That night though I must say he did a wonderful job. He kept the party going and got everyone on the dance floor. I would've left a wonderful review if that was the end of the problems but it isn't. After the wedding my husband and I went on our honeymoon. When we returned we realized tony had not sent us the photos from the photobooth or the photos from the photographer who took photos of our guests. We've been emailing, texting, calling tony for the past few months and have not received a reply. Those photos would really mean a lot and would make our experience even fuller. It is stated in or contract that he needed to provided us digital copies but if we can't find him how can we get those photos? If anyone can get in contact with him for us, that would be greatly appreciated. I would not recommend tony just because of his lack of commitment to the customers and pretty much after the payment and party, you can never reach him again. read more

We hired Tony and his crew for my wedding that happened this past Sunday. Yelpers, let me tell you: HIRE HIM! The MC can either make or break your wedding - nothing else matters (not even the Bride's dress)! He did an amazing job! My husband and I are constantly reminiscing how much fun the wedding is and that's all because of him. He is worth every single penny cause now we have a memorable wedding for our LIFETIME. Just to give a bit of a background of my guests: about 230 people, and 150 guests are much older and traditional chinese ppl. They don't dance, they don't understand english, and they never been to a western wedding. When I first met Tony, I told him about my concerns: I have a huge dance floor but my guests are much older and do not dance. The first thing he said to me was "I'm not doing wedding games as a filler, I'm going to get everyone on the dance floor during the entire event". He also gave us advice on what to do/not to do to keep the party alive. I have met with several other MC after interviewing Tony, and there's no one else that can impress me the way he has. I even had one MC who simply told me "If your guests don't dance, I can't force them. I'll just play more games". Fast forward to my wedding: My dance floor was busy the entire time. Not only did he focus on us, he also got our guest involved. When we'd slow dance, he made sure the guests form a close circle around us to make it more intimate. He got our parents to dance by following his lead and my guests followed as well! When the dance floor started to die down, he got strategies to bring the guests back up and close to us. He has lots of trick up his sleeves that works! Here's a good tip: bring a USB stick with your slide show (for just incase situations) and for the crew to load up the photobooth pics into it. :) Tony - Thank you so much for making our wedding so wonderful! Despite the poor reviews which I don't quite understand, I was introduced to Tony by a wedding vendor that highly recommended his services. I completely agree with them in hiring Tony to be our wedding MC for our big day. He did an impeccable job in keeping our guests on their feet the whole time and made our wedding that much more unforgettable. He really knows how to work a crowd and was very detail oriented when discussing the schedule for our reception. We were scared that Tony would not be able to get people up and partying for our wedding due to the large number of guests that we had which was over 300 people. But thankfully, he had most of our guests dancing all through the night and we can't thank him enough for that. Tony and his team did it period. Like some of reviews said just HIRE him and you won't regret it. Tony really took his time to meet with us 3 times before our wedding to plan the schedule and games. During our wedding Tony did such a great job by bring the energy from the crowd. He also improvised as the party goes on. Even we didn't have a routine for our first dance, he was able to make us look welcome and comfortable. The Music was great, the photobooth was great, his staff/Dj was great. Whatever you do, do not hire this company. At my wedding reception my wife and I made the grand entrance and MC Jenny announced my brother's name instead of mine. She did not even apologize or correct the mistake. She only apologized after my wedding planner confronted her. She also started the parent's dance without my wedding planner knowing about it which could have caused my photographer to miss the moment. She also announced my wife's outfit change when we did not instruct her to. The DJs went to town during cocktail hour. They had plates full of food and had drink after drink. The DJ also didn't play the shortened version on our first dance when we asked them to. Both our wedding planner and I emailed the owner Tony and he has not responded regarding these mistakes. read more
