Five stars +++! The ladies in the office are a well-oiled machine! First stepping in the office, I…read morewas greeted and saw social distancing reminders in the office right away. All of the associates were wearing masks. I had to fill out some new paperwork and snagged a seat. I was literally the only person in the entire waiting room and I didn't even get to finish the papers because I was called for my appointment! Usually I'm used to waiting a few minutes for appointments but not here; I was taken back to my room right away. I was a little nervous for this appointment because I made it to get a mole removed on my back. I was told the process would be painless but anything with any needles (even momentary for numbing) scares me. Kristin, one of the Physician Assistants here was incredible. She was so friendly and easy to have conversation with. She walked me through the process of the mole removal and by the time she was done talking I didn't even know it was finished!!! I was so so happily surprised with how painless this experience actually was. She gave me some Polysporin ointment for the biopsy area and some advice for care. After the small procedure, I went to the desk to check out and finish my papers. I even had two associates helping me at once- how cool is that? One took my card for payment and the other was scheduling my next appointment. The fastest appointment I've ever been to in my life ha! The biopsy area on my back is healing well and I highly recommend this Dermatologist if anyone is in need. Thank you so much ladies for your smiles and making my visit so pleasant!

They always take the time out to explain everything before treatment and answer all my Qs. Recommended it to my family members, who have also been very satisfied. The staff is friendly, eager to help with scheduling and fitting us in even on short notice. The office is always clean. They have been taking extra precautions, especially with all the covid concerns. Wonderful practice and would highly recommend! Surprised to read all the prior negative reviews of this place!

They sent me to Quest for labs on Monday. I went immediately after my appointment. Labs were ready Tuesday. They said they have access to the Quest system. Quest sent them the Labs AND they have access to the system, and I didn't hear anything. I called 3x and left 3 messages Thursday. No answer. No return calls. I called 2x on Friday and finally had to talk to a scheduler. She went into the Quest system and found the labs (MAGIC huh?) and then said "well no providers are here today so it'll have to be Monday". Another week without medication due to the sheer incompetency, and worse, INDIFFERENCE that this practice shows its patients. I'll be finding a new provider once they finally get me my medication. Enough is enough. They just don't care.

However, when I treat and speak kindly to the staff they respond kindly as well. I think maybe they get a bit overwhelmed because it's always so busy and since they are the "front line" they get the wrath of unhappy clients. I have also had to wait over an hour for an appointment but I myself am a medical professional so I can empathize. Sometimes emergencies happen with clients or an unexpected situation needs to be managed and it takes time resolving these problems. I gave Dr Barsky 5 stars because he is very competent, does a thorough skin examination and provides excellent treatment recommendations. He has always asked if students can be present for the exams (and the fact he allows students to train with him is commendable and shows his commitment to education). He has never once pushed any skin care product on me which is extremely refreshing and appreciated. Oh and the microphone he talks into? All doctors do that, they just do it at their desk after an appointment. Or they type the info by hand. Kudos to the old guy (sorry Dr B) for actually using advanced technology. So, maybe the waiting room and chairs aren't up to date.. but I don't rate medical professionals on their office, I rate them on their quality of care.

I appreciated all the great reviews of Dr. Boyd and after weeks and weeks of trying to find a…read moredoctor I think I can trust, they helped me decide she was the doctor for me. So I called for an appointment and was told she could see me on August 18 (today is July 2). I have prescriptions that have to be monitored and maintained, and I also have a very painful issues with my arm. I don't think either can wait for August 18. They are two separate appointments and they won't combine them: one is "to establish care" and the other is an illness visit. Once I see her as a "wellness visit" on August 18, I would be able to "get in quicker" to see her in the future. For now, if I'd like to be seen and monitored by "someone else" who has more availability in their schedule I could do that. Well, I've had a terrible experience with a doctor in Chicago that left me with ongoing medical issues that could have been prevented. So I did my research and selected someone I felt I could trust. I was so very lucky to have that in New Orleans (from where I just moved) and I just wanted that again. I don't really want to see "someone else" that I don't know anything about and waiting 6+ weeks to see a doctor I researched heavily. So while I can't really rate Dr. Boyd herself, this is a warning to those who are looking for a doctor: even though her site says she is accepting new patients, I don't think she really has time for them. Be sure you can wait six weeks before seeing her if you choose her. I get why she's busy -- she's good. But why advertise that you're accepting new patients when you really don't have time for someone who needs you?

Dr. Boyd is AMAZING. She's warm, but professional. She takes her time with her patients, and it's…read moreobvious that she cares very deeply for those in her care. Truth be told, I prefer younger, female, Family Docs (as opposed to Internal Medicine) - just as personal preference - but she's absolutely lovely. Kind. Attentive. Concerned. All the things you want in a GP. Oh - and one last thing: At my previous practice, there would be a HUGE wait - I mean, HOURS. (But heaven forbid you be more than 10 minutes late...they would cancel your appointment.) Not so with Dr. Boyd. I never feel rushed, either. She's genuinely a good MD. Seriously.

Late last year, I went to Dr. Abate to remove a small angioma in my face. She suggested to remove…read morethe angioma by laser and also to remove a few dark spots in the face. I agreed, stressing, though, that my first priority was the removal of the angioma. She noted a growth between my upper lip and my nose. She thought that it might be skin cancer. She shaved it and sent the sample to a pathology lab for analysis. I paid $250.00 and left. A few days later I realized that the angioma was still there. After a couple of weeks, the pathology report determined that cancer cells were not detected in the sample and that the growth was probably a wart, even though at the time no HPV viral particles were detected. The shaving has left a noticeable scar in my face. Earlier this week, and about four months after I saw Dr. Abate, her nurse told me to see Dr. Abate to check the surgery. I said that I was not going to see again a dermatologist who cannot remove a small angioma and cannot differentiate between basal cell carcinoma and a wart. A wart that can be treated by freezing, leaving no very visible scar. Apparently Dr. Abate was offended by my remark. I realize that I was abrupt and not very diplomatic, but what I said is true: I still have the angioma, there was not cancer, and I am left with an avoidable scar in the middle of my face.

I've been to Dr Kovak many times for different issues, but the first time was to get rid of the…read moreappearance of veins under my eyes and few spider veins on my face that occurred as a result of waxing away that peach fuzz (eye veins unrelated). Dr Kovak is very compassionate and reasonable with the prices. I paid far more at a random laser center when I received a treatment for over 150 that did nothing where as Dr. Kovak zapped the tiny area for basically nothing after doing my under eye area which was very reasonable. I had done fillers from another doc long before I knew Dr Kovak and it wasn't a good experience for me, Dr Kovak is someone I've come to trust. That previous doctor was giving me vitrase in order to dissolve the product that migrated to above and below my lips and used a bit of steriod in the mix for the nodules I developed and it cause a dent/indentation or atrophy in my upper lip that looked pretty bad. So I went back to Dr Kovak to help fix the issue. I did my own research into successful treatments for atrophy and came across many studies on saline injections that reverse the atrophy over time by diluting the steriod crystals that prevent the fat tissue from regenerating. Dr. Kovak was concerned that I had steriod put in my face and he said you may need filler to fill the area because it may be permanent but he would be willing to try the saline injections first that I asked about... he suggested 3 times once a month. The studies I read they used a protocol of 1 time a week 4 to 6 times and when I mentioned that to Dr the next time I saw him and He said okay! Let's do it! He clearly cares about and listens to his patients and he doesn't have that large ego you're used to seeing with very successful Drs like him. I love this man, we need more Drs like him in the world. So far, I've had 3 saline injections and the indentation is getting less and less. The dr noticed it changing too. I am blessed to have found him. I saw a review that compared oak brook terrace to villa Park and she sounds sad. Hopefully she gets help with that delusion and finds a dr that's more her vibration and I don't envy that person. Thank you Dr Kovak, I'll only come to you when I try for fillers again. So blessed to have found you.

Dr. Kovak agreed to send in Rx to Walgreens. Upon leaving appointment, Sandy Kovak told me there was a $100 Fee for Writing a Prescription. Then she told me it was a Consultation Fee which contradicted what I was told when making the appointment (Office Visit). This was never disclosed nor stated when I inquired about the costs when making the appointment nor during the exam. It is unusual and improper for a doctor's office to charge a separate $100 prescription fee on top of an office visit charge, especially if it was not disclosed upfront. A prescription is generally considered part of the treatment included in the cost of the office visit. I have asked for this charge to be reversed and to have Dr. Kovak return my call.
