Other contractors said there was no way to fix it and that we'd have to remove it all (break through concrete) and put another gate in (one of less value). After we made the decision to go with Tyson, I had to go on a business trip. I trusted him all the way to get the job done while I couldn't be present to check. Family Owned and Operated, Neil, Franco, and the rest of the team prides themselves on doing business the way it should be. Context: I'm a homeowner who needed a custom metal stringer staircase to be fabricated and installed on my property. Three months prior to contacting SCCMF my general contractor who was building a two story 1600 sq/ft ADU + Addition abandoned the project and left me (owner) to complete the build as an owner/builder following dry-in and partial siding completed. With that was the abandonment of the subcontractor fabricator who was scheduled to install stairs the following week, long story short they had never begun the fabrication after payment was received. Let's just say it was difficult to coordinate and complete the project throwing off of ladders and scaffolding. That's when I was introduced to Southern Cali Custom and when I say they 'saved my ass' I don't say that lightly. They completed the project on time, on budget and exceeded expectations. Scope: * Two sets of Custom Galvi Steel Stringers and Tread buckets with pour in place concrete skid proof * Stainless Tube handrail and cables There were many variables about the project and surprises left behind from the GC who abandoned the project with framing not corresponding to planset and SCCMF handled it with clear communication, clear change orders, and never took advantage of the situation. These guys do work the way work should be done, with honesty and integrity through and through. But wait there's more... the first winter storm that hit San Diego (yah that happens) we discovered a massive water intrusion issue coming from the ramp where the stairs were located. I called all the subs for an onsite meeting to perform a water test as well as the original GC who abandoned the work and let's just say all the finger pointing went to "the stair guys did it". SCCMF's response, "if there was a failure due to the work we provided we will make it right and we stand by our work." They were THE ONLY sub who took responsibility for their work and in fact after we hired a forensic construction failure firm their conclusion resulted in "the failure to install flashing and counterflashing on the ramp underneath the stairs". This was NOT WORK performed by SCCMF. Nonetheless, who did I hire to repair the water intrusion issue? SCCMF because the level of trust gained in the process was priceless and their knowledge of the challenging project. Thank you SCCMF.
