1st time ever visit. Me & spouse Yelp Elite Barbara S. for dinner. Friendly greeting. Immediate seating. Prompt arrival of server. Drinks ordered. Delivered in 4 minutes. A fairly spacious dining room. About 1/2 full. Everybody has pizza on their table. Do they know something? Barb and me decide to be iconoclasts. She orders chicken piccata. I order flank steak. For the opener we share a small Skip's salad. It's plenty big, tasty ans satisfying. Entrees arrive 14 minutes later. Nice plate presentation. But then, uh-ooh, there's a problem. After the first bite of my risotto I taste that there is something sour and not supposed to be there. I eat 4 forkfuls more. Then Barbara tastes the rissotto and says " Stop eating that, it is spoiled!" I have to agree with her. We tell the server and the manager. Much conversation ensues, nothing confrontational. Manager tastes nothing off. Barb and I insist that it's not the aroma of the cheese, but the abborio rice has been out for too many hours at room temperature. Spoiled rice can cause sever sickness. People have actually died from eating 2 day old rice that has been left out on the kitchen counter for 2 days. I know this, I'm Italian, I've eaten risotto since an infant. I'm 74 years old now. So we lend our advice on safe food procedures. The manager is grateful that we are not being assholes. Comped tiramisu dessert. $89 bill with tax and tip. Fine. Wife asked me to pick up the labor inducing pizza. It's an expensive pizza, but it is loaded with a lot of quality toppings. This is a special event/fine dining pizza. This isn't an everyday Domino's pizza. While it did not induce labor, it was still a good pizza. When I picked up the order, I entered through the pick up side entrance. Sunday lunch hour was not too busy and we were seated right away. She ordered her favorite, the PAPPARDELLE BOLOGNESE and I chose their SHRIMP SCAMPI. Food was served at a decent time, in fact, it was amazingly fast. Our server checked on us about twice during the duration of our lunch providing friendly and attentive service. Service is excellent and so is the food. We had a company party here and had a table for 24 people. Our items were placed ahead of time. The pizzas are very good and well seasoned. I am usually not a fan of salads, but their house salad was very good. Servers are very friendly and makes sure you have everything you need. Got the "PREGO" and gave birth the following morning at work. LOL. - Pizza is always good. Ingredients were fresh and crust bake to perfection. Yummy.. -First time at this location, usually frequent the Folsom spot. I guess i'm just use to what I'm familiar with and think the regular spot is just a little bit better. - Shrimp Scampi was delicious. Pasta was al dente, and sauce was spot on. This place is in our regular rotation of go-to places for dinner. The pizzas are one of our favorite items to order here. They're even able to make it with non dairy cheeses. So first time there and ordered the scampi that came with some toasted bread. . We also ordered a few different pizzas that were so damn good. Crust was perfect, no toppings was spared. Came out to Skipolinis to support Ruhkala Elementary fundraiser. We ordered the Skip's Dip and Bruxelles Fritti. The Skip's Dip was a classic Italian started oil and vinegar dip. The bread was fresh and warm. The Bruxelles Fritti was delicious. I would def order again. We also ordered a family size Cesar salad--so good. I'm pretty sure they make their dressing in house. For the entree we ordered the legendary Prego Pizza. It has every topping you can imagine. I think it was good but would have been better if it cooked a little bit longer. It was slightly over done. This was my first time visiting the Rocklin location. The service was great and fast. They also have a good selection of beer, although it is not on the menu. The food I had was okay. It lacked flavor. It looked amazing, but all you tested was pesto. I understand that was the main component, but the chicken should have flavor. The garlic fry was not great either. Lasagna was watery, food was luke warm. We were the only table there. Server was kind, but forgot essentials. Pizza was alright, meatball sandwich was great but fries were extremely oily. There's no care in the food, especially that lasagna which had sauce splattered all around the plate. Which leads to another star for the aggressive pricing.. the desserts are overpriced for what seems like very mediocre slices of cake and very watery gelato. This is a decent place for pizza and pasta. We did the pasta. I've been a few times. The service is very friendly but can be a bit slow. The food is good. On my previous visits I recall the food was maybe a bit better? The last visit I would have to say it was good but wasn't properly seasoned. I ordered the Spaghetti with meatballs and I'd have to say the sauce and to a lesser extent the meatballs needed a bit of acid like maybe some lemon juice or white wine, a bit of pepper, and a lot of salt. I almost never add salt but I had to here. The portion was decent and came with a bit of bread. The other Italian place nearby does not offer bread and this place does with some entrees but doesn't do a bread basket. I don't know when that stopped being a thing but I wish it would come back. Here's my big gripe. I wanted to get some ice cream or gelato for dessert and they have an entire foyer whose purpose is to display and sell the ice cream but apparently it closes at some point. We came in at 7pm and left around 8pm (they close at 9?) and no ice cream was available for dessert. I guess none of the 3 or 4 cooks doing not much of anything in the kitchen can walk into the freezer and scoop a couple of bowls. Shoved a machine at me when I asked for check- no itemized bill provided or receipt even though I selected the option for it. As I look, it's been a 2 and 1/2 years since my last review for Skipolini's in Roseville (or Rocklin), California. Of note, is that nothing has changed, in fact, it's gotten better. If you are looking for high quality, delicious tasting food, a FULL bar with amazing liquid medication, and excellent, friendly, professional customer service, this is the place! I am always grateful for the presentation as I conduct business lunch meetings there. However, they are great at Skipolini's anytime. Bartender / Servers Kara & Natasha (Tosh), along with there service counterparts and the manager, Manny, are always welcoming, attentive and fabulous. We like coming here because I love love love their house salad. They also have a pizza on the children's menu where the kids assemble their own pizza and then it's baked up. We have had really good service, and really bad service. It's hit or miss. The last visit my daughter ordered a coffee and it tasted horrible I asked the the waitress to remove it from our bill (it cost like 4 bucks). She came back and had removed 2 dollars. It's was hilarious and very poor customer service. I won't say her name I will still go back though because I love that salad too much not to. read more

For my Mom and Dad Friends on yelp. Do yourself a favor and ask to be seated on the patio and let your monsters (I mean kids) go play on the play structure while you enjoy a nice night and some sparkling rose. The cajun pasta is a go to for me and I usually have enough to eat the next day. My Son is always a fan of the build your own pizza and brags about how cool it is he made to anyone around who will listen. They have a great selection of happy hour food/drinks and the service is pretty good. Shout out to the bar tender there and her peaches. No really (no HR case here), she brings her own peaches and makes the BEST sangria you could think of. Came here last night while waiting for our movie. The place was pretty packed and service was great. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and it was also very clean. My favorite is the deep fried green beans! They were perfectly crispy and very flavourful. The dressings were delicious and all of them tasted homemade. I haven't had an Italian soda in years and it brought back wonderful memories. I ordered the strawberry one with cream. We also enjoyed ice cream after wards (not pictured) but it was delicious! They have a separate seating area for this and it's a cute spot! Looking forward to my next visit to try more dishes. read more

The Clayton location will always be the best, with its wonderful outdoor patio area under the trees and its old town charm. But this location is still a great spot for a nice weekend lunch. Went to Skipolini's for lunch with my husband and brother-in-law (BIL) today. My husband and I had the lunch pizza and salad and BIL had a small mushroom and olive pizza. The lunch combo was really good! It came with a huge slice of pizza a side salad, garlic bread, and a cookie. Sometimes I'm weary of the pizza by the slice option because the pizza could've been sitting there for a while waiting to get ordered...but these slices were freshly made with two toppings at our choosing. My husband had Canadian bacon and pineapple, which is his go to pizza and I had pepperoni and mushroom. As you can see from the pictures, they do not skimp on the toppings. The crust was tasty - chewy yet still soft. The sauce was mild, not too spicy not too salty. BIL enjoyed his pizza and ate almost the whole thing. Next time, I'm encouraging him to get the pizza by the slice because two slices are probably just as big as the small pizza and he could have different toppings (up to 2) on each slice. The service was great. Our waitress took great care of us. She offered up the lunch pizza special as an option and checked on us often. The lunch combo typically comes with a Caesar salad, but I decided I preferred the mixed greens for a slight up charge. My pizza was originally plated with the Caesar so instead of throwing out the Caesar she brought me a side of the mixed greens and suggested we enjoy the Caesar as well (which I did). Although I have to say the mixed greens with salami, garbanzo beans, onions and cheese was delicious, while the Caesar was so-so. All of us ended up having leftover pizza, so no cooking tonight! I visited the location in Rocklin yesterday. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the service was great. The food was a different story. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. By any standard it was barely edible. Sauce tasted super bland like they dumped can sauce on the pasta with no seasoning. The meatballs tasted like they sat in the fridge for a week. Honestly, I was worried ide get sick. Fortunately that didn't happen. Long short of this is I'm not going back. If I do I'll stick with pizza. read more
