Randomly I walked in here before getting my nails done next door at Fashion Nails just to ask about prices and services. Kim told me it was $30 for a wash/cut/dry and I was flabbergasted. I made an appointment to come in later that evening. I opted for a bob and I loved it. Kim was awesome. I made a mental note to make an appointment within the next 2 months for a trim to upkeep the style. I returned about 2 months later (the other day) and decided to keep the style but go a few inches shorter with partial medium blonde highlights. Needless to say I love it and still getting used to how short it is! I was super sleepy that day and they offered me a cup of tea!! Super sweet of the salon to do that. Compared to the hefty Newbury street prices, this salon is DIRT CHEAP! So I trekked out to Quincy to try it out. It was actually really awkward walking in. Everyone in the salon stopped and stared...and after a bit of hesitation, I mustered "...hi...I would like some eyelash extensions..." after that, everythig went fairly well. I found it pretty unnerving that my eyelash lady kept going "ai yai yai" and was constantly talking on the phone. It was not conducive to a comfortable environment! In the end, I'm OK with my extensions...it was my first time afterall...and I feel like my eyes are either crooked or the lashes were applied pretty lopsidedly. However, my friends say they're pretty symmetrical and that they look great. Hey, if it looks great foe the very low price of 60 bucks, I have nothing more to say. read more

Tried out this place because I wanted eyelash extensions done and I didn't want to pay the hefty price ($150+) for them to be done at a grand salon. This place is fairly easy to get to, so 5 stars on location since it is basically on the main road in Quincy, just be careful when you cross the street, Quincy drivers are aggressive! Loved the girls there since they are clearly very efficient, I barely waited 10 minutes and the whole time, the girl who was going to help me kept coming over to assure me that she would take good care of me and "only 5 more minute, ok?" I had a wedding to go to that day so I was really nervous about time, so these assurances were very welcome. Now, I adored the girl who did my lashes and clearly, she has done them multiple times, so I had no problem with her or the salon at all. My problem was with the lashes themselves, I guess I should have read Yelp reviewers more clearly before coming here. The lashes are put on with a thick black glue and no, unlike usual eyelash extensions, here they are put directly on the skin and not on the lash. I only realized this when they started to fall out about 5 days later (that's some really strong glue), and I wanted to pull the rest out so I wouldn't look freaky. My god, they hurt like hell. It was like a little black plastic leech that would let go. Eventually, I just accepted that they were just going to have to come off on their own and just wore sunglasses everywhere so no one would notice all the crooked lashes. But to be fair, this place was good for what you pay - but next time, I think I'll just shell out the extra $80+ and get real eyelash extensions. This place is very dirt cheap and very popular. I got there when it opened on a Saturday and already there was a small line. They do take walk ins, but it is best to just schedule an appointment and get there EARLY. Yikes. They were very nice but the manicures my friend and I got were laughable. The girl obviously didn't know what she was doing and made crooked messy lines on my French manicure. They were all over the place. It took so long, I just let her do it after 3 or 4 tries, which she knew on her own were too bad to leave there. I would have just laughed it off and left it at that but, worse, my friend's started to peel five minutes after we left. So she went back and asked for her money back. They basically called her a liar and threatened to call the police. After a lot of arguing they refunded $20 out of the $30 it cost because they "shaped her nails." That part was weak at best. Before I moved away to the west coast, I always go here for waxing. And I always book for May. She is awesome. She understands exactly how I want it and is so consistently - the right arch and thickness. My eyebrow always come out looking clean and sharp. This place has been around for many, many years (probably at least 10 years) and is still thriving. I have been a client for most of those years. With the exception of a few bumps, I have been very happy with the services I have received. They provide waxing, facials, manicures, pedicures, and hair services. What is the best thing about this place? Low prices and attention to detail! Eyebrow waxing is $6, and bikini is about $45. Kim (the owner) and her staff are exceptionally detailed-oriented so all services are performed with precision and efficiency. The salon can get very busy so the wait can be long, even with an appointment. This is not a spa-like setting; tranquility and serenity can not be found here. The upstairs space is a little more quiet but not by much. The main space is all hustle and bustle. There is no formal receptionist so Kim typically will answer the phone as she is working on a client, even if it is a facial. She does wear a headset so she doesn't have to walk away. Despite the less than perfect setting, Kim does a fabulous job in keeping her clients happy. And she has many loyal clients. Both Kim and Misa are fantastic, and I highly recommend both for waxing or for a facial. My husband gets his hair cut here (from Mai) because it costs $14 and they will spend time making sure every piece of hair is cut correctly. read more

Went here today for eyelashes extensions but the owner Kim said that an eyelash perm would be more suitable for the natural look I wanted. She was absolutely great and took her time. While waiting for the eyelash perm to finish, she tinted my eyebrows and waxed them and they look amazing!! Kim is a wonderful person and very knowledgeable of what she does. Eyelash Extensions... Love em but please go to another place to get them done. Went in asking for a natural but glamorous set of lashes and came out looking like a drag queen. The lady was nice and courteous but she went overboard. The glue that they use here was very harsh! Stung my eyes and irritated the crap out of my nasal passages. Have been going since July but wont be back. First time got my hair colored and cut. Loved the color but she Kim cut to much off. Went next time for haircut. Asked for a trim only. Once again cut to much off. Third time a charm not. Got color and cut. Color came out much darker then before and shorter then ever. Even after I said not much off. Love Skin Deep Skin. The ladies are nice, the work is good, the prices are more than reasonable. There's a lot going on in the salon. It's not super condusive to relaxation and does not have a 'spa' atmosphere but the reasonable prices and the fact that you can run in off the street for a mani/ pedi and a wax, and leave with money in your pocket, more than makes up for the decor. I've had my lashes done three times here, two out of three were excellent. Once they seemed a little uneven but I called and they told me to come right in and the fixed them. Best facial ever! I did a series of mini facial with glycolic acid treatment with Kim (the owner) who was very attentive and knowledgeable, extremely pleasant. She asked me a lot of questions about my skin and cleansing routine. The facial she gave me was pure magic. She did lots of extractions and exfoliation. She was precise and gentle, and the products (Dr. Murad) she used were so good. I've gone to expensive places before and the results didn't come close to what I received after my treatments. I'm thrilled with the results and receiving nice compliments - never happened before. The price is incredible and worth every penny. I was curious that she would push her products for me to buy (like the rest of them) but nothing of the sort, instead, she gave me lots of samples when I left. The entire staff is so very pleasant and the place is clean. Ok, so the room I went in was small but I don't live there and nothing will keep me from going back. I love this place! Their services are very moderately priced. Before I moved to NY two years ago, I used to go to Misa for pretty much all my waxing. She is by far the best! Not only does she always do an amazing job, she takes the time to make sure you are fully satisfied before sending you off. In addition she is super nice and friendly (there's nothing more awkward than getting a Brazilian from someone in silence....haha) I've gone to multiple places here in NY but haven't been able to find a comparable place for their prices. I was recently back in the area for my wedding and went back to see Misa. While we were chatting, she suggested that I get eyelash extensions for the wedding. I've never considered this and so was a bit apprehensive. She took the time to explain to me exactly what they do and gave me some brochures. I have been unhappy each time. They have taken pieces of skin off, they have burnt part of my brow. They have made them uneven. They have overwaxed. I am very particular about my eyebrows. I have been going here for about 4years now for my eyebrows and i am satisfied every time. The staff is very friendly & you can't beat the price! $7 for eyebrow waxing is great, compared to $14 and up at salons closer to my house. It is def worth the drive. Last year, I started treating my grandmother to pedicures there and she is in love with getting them done! She is always excited to go in and chit chat with the staff, who ALWAYS remember her and come walk over to see how she is doing. Recently I started getting my toes done as well and I now see why my nana loves it so much. I had eyelash extensions done at this salon. Worst experience. The woman doing the lashes was nice however the products they used were cheap. The glue smelled like Ardell's clear eyelash adhesive you can buy at CVS for under $5. The glue was hard. I had eyelash extensions done in Asia and they used high quality lashes and glue that didn't get hard. Also my friend got hers done two days before me and they charged me $10 more. So they cheated me. The cheap glue when I took a shower stung and irritated my eyes for days and my eyelashes came out too. I was very gentle in taking care of the eyelashes. EYELASH EXTENSIONS ANYONE? this is the place to go... although this is kind of out of the way for most people living in the city, it is well worth it. $60 gets you a full set of lashes! and only $3o when you need a fill! it takes only 45 mins to an hour for the application. Annie is the best! I have sent about 10 of my own clients and friends to her, and all have been very very happy! I've seen the work of some of the high end lash extension places on newbury street and was shocked at how awful they looked. I've been coming here since I went to a prom back in 2010. I began with my eyebrows now Misa is my go to girl for all things wax: eyebrows, chin, underarms, and brazilians. She's the sweetest woman ever. I have thick eyebrows and I find that people too often slim them up but she never does that. She keeps them thick and neat which is what I prefer. She's a firm believer in being hairless and she does her best to make you comfortable. Over the years she's shown an interest in me in general and I feel like more than a client. She asks me questions about my life, follows up on visits so really she's more like a friend at this point. I honestly love her. She's the type of woman who will wax something extra if she keeps you waiting for an appointment. The only service I get at this place is my eyebrows done. Its a small hole in the wall type of place, but their artisitc ability with eyebrows is the best it gets. Im not sure about their other services as I see some people are complaining. I can only vouch for their eyebrow waxing. Its pretty cheap also (7 bucks) and much better then some spas ive been to. I never have to make an appoointment either. I just was right in usually after getting me nails done accross the street. The only thing that sucks is their parking! Its hard to ever find it.
