DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE!!! I'm giving 3 stars because the entire rest of the staff was wonderful, but I didn't get ink, so I can't say anything about their skill, just that they were kind and patient people. The shop is exceptionally clean for a shop full of men, even the bathroom was spotless. So if you like the artwork and are contemplating ink, it's probably a safe bet. But do not go to get a piercing. I scheduled an appointment the day before for 5/13/22 to get spider bites on my lower left lip. My lower lip is visibly larger than my upper, and I know I'm a sweller, even if it doesn't hurt. Before even leaving the house, I know to pack motrin for the pain and swelling. Usually I remember to take it before I actually sit down for my piercings, but my brain blanked and it wasn't until he was handing me the mouthwash that I remembered. So we have a quick conversation about it, where I tell him that I always take motrin before getting pierced (I have several other face and body piercings, at least half a dozen visible) To which he responds that motrin isn't good for swelling and that swelling won't kick in for a few hours. If we hadn't already discussed my other piercings, I could dismiss it as him thinking he's calming my nerves, but the context and tone was giving this man thinks he knows my body better than I do. The piercings themselves went quick and mostly smooth, but he chose the shortest jewelry possible, which isn't ideal for someone who swells, but he assured me it would be fine and if I needed a jewelry change, to come back in, no problem. Well a few hours later, when I decided to eat dinner, it was all problems. Both balls unscrewed and fell out, so I immediately texted the shop. I was told that since it was past closing to come back in tomorrow, and he'll fix it. So I give up on eating til I can get well fitting jewelry and do my best to sleep with caution, which just lead to not sleeping for fear of losing my stems and being back at square one. The next afternoon, I go back after finishing my errands. I was told the piercer comes in at 2, so I got there quarter past 3. Upon arrival, I was told that he was out to lunch and would be back at 4:30, so I decide to wait in my car. 4:30 rolls around and he's still not back. All of the artists are with clients, so I decide to wait until one of them finishes as to not interrupt, because at this point I'm in a foul mood and have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not going to get my jewelry changed that day. Around 5:20, one of them wraps and I ask if he know whether or not the piercer is coming back that day. After a few confused conversations around the shop, he goes and gives the piercer a call. Turns out he decided to leave for the day since he had no official appointments booked. I don't know if the person who answered my texts the night before relayed the message or not, but regardless the lack of professionalism and basic decency to tell your coworkers your leaving for the day is appalling. The artist who assisted me was very patient and understanding, which considering this wasn't his problem to deal with in the first place, I greatly appreciated. Once he understood the issue, he immediately sought out solution and grabbed me the right sized jewelry. He urged me to wait until they opened back up Monday to get it changed, but I had my forceps in the car just in case some foolishness happened. It took from Saturday to Wednesday for the swelling to finally go down from all the unnecessary irritation, but the initial bars are still way too small to even think about wearing comfortably. If I didn't have seven years of experience with piercings, I would have wasted my money going here. It was still 1000% a waste of my time and energy. And even with my knowhow, I appreciate shops that don't make me use it. When it comes to things going in or on my body, I prefer professionalism to personality. My surgeon's never made me laugh, but he also didn't kill me when he cut me open, and I'm pretty sure the latter is more important. From now on, I'll stick to Infinite. read more

Despite the neighborhood not being great, the place is clean and nice on the inside. I didn't make an appointment, and the entire process from walking into the door to walking out was less than 15 minutes. He used a needle to pierce my nose, and it was quick and easy. It ended up being only $22! My friends who have gone to piercing places in the suburbs have paid up to $65, so it was great value. I didn't have any infections or issues post-piercing, and none of my friends did either. Neighborhood is sketchy as the side of the city. But the studio is great, it's cozy and set up professionally. Went in on a busy day to get an industrial piercing. By how swamped they were, the guy who attended to me was chill, a bit straight but not rude or nasty. He allowed me time at the last minute when I got a bit indecisive. Used new gloves, demanded an ID and was quite nice. He listened to my concerns about placement and tweaked where it was possible. Waiting to see how it heals to be. I did my very first dermal here about 8 months ago & ive been having issues with it getting infected regularly also has my friend ( they are not suppose to ) until I went to a different tattoo shop & they told me it was pierced incorrectly so bacteria can easily enter and delay the healing process. Call me crazy, but I like a little conversation from the person that is about to drive a stake through my body. From the second I walked in I felt like i was a nuisance. If a record was playing, it would have skipped when I opened the door. I called before I came, and as I walked into the door a guy smoking a cig outside asked if I was the one who was coming to get my nose pierced. When I said yes, he said he'd be in in a minute. To summarize, I had to wait for the piercer to finish his cigarette before piercing my nose, whilst being stared at by the patrons and employees of the establishment. I don't remember any alcohol pad being used, btw. The piercer seemed very disinterested and didn't offer any advice on how to care for my piercing..I had to ask and it was like pulling teeth. As soon as he was done piercing my nose he started talking to a coworker and I had to interrupt him a few times to ask my questions. Maybe if my concerns were addressed before hand he could have smoked and chatted to his heart's content. My piercing looks fine. It hurt like a bitch but I guess that is to be expected. My problem is more with the lack of aseptic technique, and complete disregard for putting the customer at ease and answering questions. ****Update: I went back to get the piercing redone for free since they messed it up. For a second time, they pierced my septum incorrectly and it was crooked. I was too angry to stay there and discuss it, so I left, but obviously I will never go back there. ---------------- The piercing turned out blatantly crooked but when I pointed this out, she denied it and said the jewelry was warped (it's not). This was especially ridiculous because she was actually re-piercing a very even (and still visible, though closed) piercing so in theory it should have been extremely easy to do it correctly...really angry about this. Overall Great first tattoo experience. For starters the overall atmosphere of the shop is relaxed, comfortable and clean. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The staff was polite, and very knowledgeable offering suggestions and trading stories of how some of their tattoo ideas came about for their own tattoos. The owners are hilarious and very down to earth and involved in their business. Pricing was very competitive versus other shops in the area, I got a great deal on a fairly large piece. My artist was extremely talented (as are all of their other artists) and patient with me, as it was my first tattoo and did everything to make sure I was comfortable. When we were all finished I was given tips and aftercare instructions for healing my tattoo. I was very ecstatic with the end result and highly recommend this place to any and everyone. I went here to get my nipples pierced in January and it was a pretty alright experience. It cost me $50 total with jewelry included and they've been healing very nicely. The piercer was nice but seemed swamped and didn't really seem interested in speaking. He didn't really give me any instructions about aftercare, but I already knew what I had to do due to previous research (which everyone should do prior to getting one). My roommate got her second ear lobe piercing done and it nearly cost as much as both of my nipples which I thought was very strange. Also, with my nipples, I do not remember him using a clamp which I also thought was strange. I was a walk in. I would go there again because it is so cheap, but I would not for a tattoo. I plan on going back for a navel piercing soon. read more

I usually do not write bad reviews, but I have had two absolutely terrible experiences here. The first time, I had my tragus pierced. It was fine at first, but got really infected after, even though I took great care of it. A different shop explained it was because of the jewelry they were using (cheap metal, externally threaded, wrong shape, and too long). The second time I got my navel pierced, despite the fact that I was not even anatomically suited for it! The way my navel is shaped it was bound to reject. Both No Ka Oi Tiki Tattoo and Infinite Body Piercing explained this to me after I showed them the problems the piercing was giving me. Skin Deep uses cheap jewelry (not titanium, and externally threaded), and you get what you pay for. Both piercings only cost me $10, so I should have known better! Also, I was not offered any advice on aftercare. Even though they are very inexpensive, you get what you pay for, so it's better to save up and go to a better place. I'm not even sure if they used an autoclave! read more
