Was staying at the Olive Van for work trip. Decided to do dinner at the hotel restaurant. Place is very nice although when we first walked in, we chose a bar top table and it was filthy. Took them a while to clean it to be quite honest. I just didn't feel like they were doing a good job of busing and cleaning tables when people were emptying. Our table had been bussed but not cleaned and I know it had been sitting there for at least five minutes cause I watched it. Once we got seated, again felt the service was pretty slow. Took a long time for the guy to take our drink order and he walked by the table multiple times. Then when he finally did take the drug order, took a really long time to get drinks. In general, our server was just not very efficient. This occurred throughout the entire meal and often had to ask for things multiple times. For example, when I wanted to get another beer, it took almost 10 minutes. In that time he came to the table twice and on the third time, I finally said, did you get that beer for me and he had totally forgotten evidently. That was a fourth time he had forgotten something that was ordered. When we did actually get food and drinks, the food itself was very very good. The walleye cakes were excellent. My pasta was well cooked and had great flavor. The carrot cake martini was very interesting but definitely tasted like a carrot cake. I think they just need to work on their service, a lot. The quality of the food and the quality of the restaurant deserves much better servers. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday night while in town for work with a colleague. After navigating through the hotel, took the elevator to the second floor and found the restaurant. Beautiful decor, nice bar and a separate large dining room. The restaurant was virtually empty but we were told there were no booths available. We were seated quickly in the center of the main room. Our server was great. He gave app and entree recommendations, and allowed us time to view the menu. We started with the crab cakes. They were good, heavy on filler though. Two of the three were very dark on the bottom. For entrees we both had the chicken Parmesan. Mine was overcooked and the breading literally fell off, leaving me with unseasoned, dry chicken breast. My colleague's was perfect. Our server did get me a new order, but after waiting I'd lost my appetite. Can't say I'd go back, there are probably better options in the area. read more

Cozy, elegant hotel restaurant with a bar. I went for brunch with the intent to get an upscale chicken fried steak. I was swiftly tended to by the bartender and she was kind enough to present recommended cocktail pairings with my order upon my request. In the end, I received a delicious meal with an excellent drink to accompany it. The CF steak was excellently put together. The meat quality was great (tender, but with a good bite), the batter was textural and flavorfully excellent, and the thickness was perfect. The gravy was well seasoned and the accompanying sides (eggs and potatoes) were solid (the potatoes especially). If you are looking for an upscale chicken fried steak to pass the time as your room is prepared, I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We enjoy Skies for dinner - decided to try brunch. Service was the same as it was at dinner and it was nice to see the sunshine stream in. The omelette was great and the french toast was a fan favorite! The beignets were heavy vs light and had no flavor and the pancakes came out raw. It took a very long time for the food to arrive so everything came out at once - we were told they were training new cooks. For the price...it's not worth it. Skies is a trendy, upscale venue in downtown Grand Forks that with definitely wow with its vibe, but fall short where it counts. Service was pretty slow, albeit friendly. The food was a letdown almost entirely across the board starting with the shrimp cocktail, which had an odd sauce accompaniment. There is a time and place to get creative, and this seemed to be one of those where it wasn't! The prime rib was fine, but seemed small for one that was supposed to be nearly the same size as the offering down the street at Harry's. It literally seemed to be at least 40% smaller. The rack of lamb had some very good flavor and is a tasty dish, but probably counts as more of a meal for 0.5 people than a full 1.0 due to the tiny amount that shows up on your plate. This place has a lot of potential, but execution and portion sizes are lackluster at best. I'm being considerate with a 3-star, but it's probably closer to a 2.5-star rating. read more

Called Wednesday inquiring about a special they had posted on FB to confirm they were serving it this weekend. I was told they were so I booked reservations. Got there said they were not serving that dish. We ordered off the menu. Another person in my part may order soup....still waiting for it two days later. I ordered the prime rib medium rare, came out medium to medium well. Table still had sticky stuff on it from past patrons. Kind of disappointed for what they charge as I could have had that experience at a cheaper restaurant. read more

Well, what a disappointment. We've been going to Skies for years. We haven't been since they reopened after the Olive Ann construction. We sat at the bar. Service was slow but the bartender was attentive to the regulars. We wanted apps so, I ordered a lavosh and my hubbs got wings. Who puts sliced cheese on a pizza type substance to include a lavosh?! It wasn't overly warm. Flavor was just okay. My husband grabbed his first wing, which the bone was cool to the touch. Luckily, it was cooked! They were mediocre at best. I'm thankful the vino was tasty and you can't screw up a craft beer. I'm not sure we'll be back even though it used to be a fave. Please up your game, Skies! read more

We were seated right away when we arrived-a few minutes before our reservation time and were given a table with a view. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals: Chicken Parmesan, 6 oz. Filet, and a chicken sandwich. My filet was cooked to perfection. I had the espresso cheesecake for desert. It was super rich, and oh so tasty! We did not feel rushed at all as we sat and chatted during and after our meal. I would definitely return for another visit. read more

Ordered lamb shank with carrots, mash and a side of roasted beet salad. The mash was a slob, the carrots was under cooked, the roasted beet salad had one beet in it from a can or something. Very good atmosphere and location. We had reservations and they took us immediately to table upon arrival. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. Drinks were good, except my old fashion. It was below par, marginally ok. I had the filet which was cooked perfectly. The sauce was also good. Carrots good. My wife had my strip and could only finish half. She enjoyed it with my sauce. The sauce that came with the NY strip tasted funky. Positive feedback on the brisket. It did look really good. read more

This is now my favorite restaurant in Grand Forks. The dim lights, the flickering flameless candles, and large spacious booths set a very relaxing upscale ambiance with large windows over looking the downtown. We went on a Sunday night, it was not too busy and felt private. Red was our server. He was friendly, patient, and attentive. I liked his calm demeanor. The complimentary bread consisted of fresh baked garlic rosemary focaccia and a ciabatta. I would keep coming back just for that. We started with some holiday drinks and the calamari. The calamari consisted of tender big pieces. I ordered the scallops, which were melt in your mouth. My husband ordered the Cajun wagyu burger. He said it was the best burger he ever ate. Skies 322 is a gorgeous establishment. They are connected to The Olive Ann which is its own impressive venue. The restaurant is good looking and has a lot of potential. We came for drinks before dinner and then the next morning for brunch. When we arrived both times we were greeted nicely and we sat at the bar for both occasions. At both times the staff did take quite a while to come up and talk to us. The bartender working didn't acknowledge us until another server had to push her to ask for our beverage orders. They were busy at brunch so clearly people like being there but it seems they still have some kinks to work out regarding service and timing. Now the food was delicious and I do recommend you come try this place out! We got the breakfast burrito and vegetable omelet. The star was deff the garlic potatoes that came with the dishes. We had a nice time and would give them another visit when we are back in town! read more

It was a wonderful experience, the food was fantastic (some of the best bruschetta we've ever had!) and Red did a great job attending to us throughout the evening. The restaurant is in a nice setting. That's the best thing I can say. The staff is young and inexperienced. The food is meh. I ordered a $46 filet medium-rare. The steak was delivered well done. When I asked the waiter to return it. He took it brought the same steak back to the table and said I should take a look at the steak again. As it was medium-rare. I shoved the plate back at him and said it's overdone. He reluctantly took it and from that moment on he ignored our table. It took 15 minutes to get a properly done steak back and his displeasure at having had to do so was on display. The steak itself was a rather tough piece of meat really chewy. The "mash" was a blob of runny mashed potatoes and the roasted carrots were overdone. While I really wanted to leave no tip he was tipped at a reduced rate. I wouldn't recommend or eat here again. It's definitely not worth the prices on the menu or the attitude. read more

The only downside to eating here is the price, but nothing is terribly expensive in Grand Forks (except aviation school). Service was excellent. Food delicious. This place is arguably the nicest place around in Grand Forks, so dress up a little bit when coming here. They have a bar and a dining area so when you enter, they'll ask you where you would like to go. Once you park, it's in the building and up the escalators. We came here on a Tuesday night because I heard they had two for one burgers. We went for the dining area because we were not interested in drinking alcohol. Once they gave us the menu, it was a full fine dining menu with a bunch of different options and the price points weren't too bad for a nice restaurant. Though, determined to have a burger, I asked about the two-for-one deal and the server said it was the bar menu that offered and and she immediately brought us the bar menu. So we ordered the burgers on there and the duck tacos from the dining menu. The duck tacos were really good but a bit small. They have goat cheese on them which adds a nice different flavor in tacos. The burgers we asked for Medium and they came out as medium. Often, when asking for burgers they do not come out right or well done. They also came out extremely quick too. Overall, the service and restaurant atmosphere is really nice and I'll come back for nice dinners here too. read more

My husband and I decided to check Sky's out for a nice Sunday brunch. I got the shrimp and grits, and he got the Denver omelette. The food was all so delicious and flavorful, and I got a solid two meals out of my shrimp and grits (it was deceptively filling). I really appreciated that you got a bunch of good-sized shrimps because I've gone to places that only give you a couple pieces of shrimp or the shrimp are tiny. The peach Bellini was light and a nice drink to brighten up a heavier meal. The experience was lovely--such a classy place. The server did an excellent job. We loved checking out the other menu items that other guests ordered, and it all looked so good. I'd happily come back. read more

This place is amazing and you would never think grand forks has something so good in a small town. I got the sea bass while my coworker got the fish special! I was impressed that they give u 2 big pieces of sea bass! I replaced the rice with more spinach and it was perfect! The have generous house pours! The house cab was amazing. I've been going to Skies for years and last night was a HUGE disappointment. The food was really tasteless... bland and the menu was lacking in its usual array of tastey choices. Our server was a nice but not attentive person... the server will learn with experience ... they tried to be helpful, just a little late. it usually isn't loud in there, but it was last night and the manager is accusatory and not helpful. I was really looking forward to a nice steak dinner. The atmosphere was nice and the staff excellent. The mashed potatoes were dreamy creamy. The steak had good flavor and was cooked as ordered, but it was tough and a bit chewy. Honestly, I've had more tender steak from a grocery store. The carrots were far too sweet with the glaze. The shrimp was awesome, but the cocktail sauce had so much horseradish it burned...and I like a spicy cocktail sauce. The lemon tart was the best part of the meal. This restaurant could be great if they didn't try so hard to be over-the-top. Not sure I'd go back for another $100 meal that was just a little above average. read more

Changed our review from 5 to 4. Pricey place for what? Food that is slightly better than average? We had given it a 5 before. But came back for my birthday and it was a let down. Our waiter was more interested in keeping personal conversations with the couple next to us, than to make sure we had drinks at our table. Appetizer (artichoke dip and flat bread) was like if it was store bought, "flatbread" were just crackers. Asked for medium steak, they brought it out rare. Husband asked for a birthday celebration (maybe candle or message on dessert) nothing done. I would rather go to other places in town. Probably won't be back after today's experience. read more

Very nice dinner experience here. They did an awesome job following COVID guidelines to the point where I felt comfortable eating there which is the first time I have since this begun. It's interesting. I have loved this place, but it's changed. The atmosphere is nice and the service is good, but a decline in food. Out of crab cakes, Italian sandwich was weak, and steak fatty. In the past there was an exciting menu with fresh seafood, bbq, etc, but now it's kind of "meh". It pains me to write that. I dropped $105 with tip and I could have had just as good of a meal qt Perkins for $60. Not sure if I will go back any time soon. read more

About 3.5 stars. Good, not super. Presentation is outstanding, and service is pretty good (sometimes gets a bit lost though). Prices are high for what you get in terms of the quality of the food itself. Like many higher-end places here in town, good quality ingredients but underseasoning and undersalting can be a problem sometimes (was in its previous iteration as well, at Sander's). If the prices were about 25% less, would be more palatable, but still one of a handful of places to take tourists who expect higher end places (Ely's Ivy is probably the other). On the other hand, outstanding drink menu with good variety of wines and cocktails. read more
