3rd time going there for ski supplies, this time for seasonal ski rental which includes boots and ski's, however no poles or helmets in the rental- those you have to buy seperately. Went on a Thurs afternoon around 3:30 - everyone there is helpful, greeting you as you enter, taking time to listen to what you're needs are and making suggestions based on your budget, etc. Bryce was great in selecting the skis, boots, giving us tips on the boot fit, helped us with the helmet, poles and goggles. We saved 10% - 20% on the items we had to purchase since renting the skis/boots. They adjusted the bindings while we picked our other items, so no need to come back for ski pick up. Lots of staff to help you, you can tell service is thier main priority. Family owned business and they care! Always have warm fuzzies after shopping there. read more

One thing very true about skiing and snowboarding is that they are expensive sports to jump into. While I am at best an amateur content to rent skis, boots, bindings and poles, my 19 year old son has been smitten by the luster of snowy ski runs, carving edges and custom waxes for max speed. This year he wanted his own boots and goggles for his Pocono boarding adventures. He's a great kid willing to work for spending money, but in need of assistance to cover the exorbitance of boarding accoutrements. How much you ask? Middle of the road K2 boots, $300. Equivalent goggles, $150. They go up from there. Get the picture? Ski Barn knows their stuff about skiing. Their sales staff is only slightly older than my kid, and have the universe of possibilities covered. They are into the details, ask the right questions and make practical suggestions to arrive at the right choices for the level of ability and skill potential. They speak the language. Prices are high, and sales, rare. Still, once the commitment is made to take the next step into ownership and permit your child to have the opportunity to significantly improve on the slopes, you take a deep breath and dive in. PLEASE GO TO LANGS SKI AND SCUBA, my wife's less than 1yr old Ride snowboard boot laces which she bought at Sli Barn broke last weekend. We're off to mountain fest and need them restrung for tomorrow. Lawerence staff have no idea about customer service and frankly treated my wife unfairly. She's home crying. Understandable they didn't have her laces in stock but to tell her to reach out to Ride to get them instead of Ski Barn ordering..... what the hell. she then asked for a rental boot to hold her over. Nope?!?! she asked for the manager. Young bro, said he is the manager. After the $1000s of dollars in service and purchases over the years they straight up don't want to help. we loved going there, but this was all I needed to go to Langs ski and scuba. I purchased a new pair of skis at Ski Barn to replace my old 20-year-old skis and boots. The salesman was very informative and helpful an did not try to upsell me on anything. There was no sales pressure and a check online confirmed their prices were the same as other businesses. Maybe I'd have saved a few dollars buying the same skis and boots online, but then they probably wouldn't fit correctly or be mounted right. read more

Excellent place to buy your ski and snowboarding gear. We have three young children and always find the right setups for them. Their rental program makes things so much easier with growing children, and they even have the option to rent brand-new equipment! My wife also is starting out skiing, and they have have starter packages that are really affordable. Not easy to find a decent ski shop with a good boot fitter less than 45 mins from where we live. Used to go to Morris plain for ski tune-ups, but never work with their boot fitter nor seen any decent reviews. Two weeks ago, tried SB, spoke with Roger, he spent an hour with us recommending two pairs of boots for both her and I. Both fit amazing good, to our surprises. He also spoke about pronation on my super flat feet, knew and totally agree with his assessment. He is an avid skier as well, gave us a lot of pointers while our boots getting fitted. SB definitely earned our trust/business. We will be back for more skiing needs in the future. read more

This place wasted a lot of my time and money. I typically wax and sharpen my board myself, but after 5 years, I let them give my board a detailed tune up. The next time I used my board, it felt ruined. It was completely unresponsive to all my turns and I felt like I was learning how to snowboard again. Because of this, I quit after about 2 hours of frustration and wasted the day and money on the lift ticket. I brought my board back to them and said it didn't seem waxed. They said they use a new machine that only adds the exact amount of wax that was needed. I bought this excuse because they said they'd redo it all. I didn't get to go snowboarding again last year to test the board out again but just yesterday I went to hunter mountain. Prior to going I waxed the board myself and now it is back to normal. Long story short, ski barn wasted a lot of time and money and I will never let them touch my equipment again. read more

Went to Ski Barn today for new snowboard boots. I had gone to 5 other ski shops prior to Ski Barn! 1. They didn't have near the selection and 2. they weren't 1/2 as helpful in making the selection and ensuring they were the right fit. James was awesome! He measured BOTH feet to figure out what size. I currently have a 7.5 boot and was looking to size down to a 7! He put me in a 6.5 and am so happy he did as he explained why I was having the trouble I was having in my current boot. I had a problem with the wrong boots being delivered when I picked up my new skis and boots. Showing up on a high priced ski vacation with boots a size and a half too small sucked. This ruined my ski vacation. When I did reach out, they ignored me. The true test of a ski shop is how they handle customers with problems. I don't recommend this place. Extreme disappointment this year (Dec.2017). Purchased a pair of ski boots (Technica Mach I) and no meaningful fitting service was offered, only a visual check and I was asked if they were comfortable. In an unsuccessful follow up effort to get an appointment for boot fitting, I was insultingly advised by a "boot department" rep that boot fittings could not be done over the phone. So disappointed this year! The selection sucked! There was nothing left in the clothing section in large or extra large. And the woman on the floor greeted everyone but me. I was dressed down, but had money to spend and had questions, but apparently I wasn't worthy of her time. We bought ski boots today from Ski Barn for my son. We had originally bought boots online, and despite hours of research, measurements and price comparisons, we ended up with boots that didn't fit. In the store we met Phil. He took the time to listen to our problem, and offered a few options to help including trying to adjust the boots we bought elsewhere. He also helped us understand the variables to consider when buying ski gear. In the end we bought new boots at Ski Barn. Lesson learned. The sales women helped us find gear at the price point we were looking for, and they made some great recommendations and gave us good advice (it had been a decade since we last skied, we were sort of out of touch). EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT! We were in the market for new skis and did the usual shopping around: Amazon, eBay, online, and then found Ski Barn locally. They were having a sale and we found the same set of skis, boots, and bindings, for the sale price online or less. What really set them apart was the service and knowledge we received from their sales rep Pat Ryder! He was beyond knowledgeable and helpful while we picked out the equipment. He made sure everything was the perfect size and fit comfortably. I will not shop anywhere else because you get what you pay for and you will never get this level of customer service from an online company. You can rest knowing everything they sell is good quality and you buy the correct stuff, and they stand behind their products. After working with Pat it made the experience because he took the time to make sure we had everything perfect. Do not be foolish and think you will buy something online for cheaper, you will regret it, especially if you are on top of a mountain and your equipment is not correct or fitted properly.
