really nice bbq spot. love the location and good food. chicken salad was delicious. would recommend.

Last post was removed. Parking is good. Seating is okay but staff will NOT allow you to adjust seats. Pricing is high, food quality is mid. Staff is younger and made the stay uncomfortable. I am unable to comment further as they have removed other reviews for more details. read more

Good service, good atmosphere and views, but not very good barbecue. Pulled chicken didn't have much flavor beyond the bbq sauce which wasn't very good. It did the job of filling us up driving through town. read more

have been driving past this place every so often & always wanted to head up the hill to check it out - finally got my chance on the way back from a trip upstate. Got here right around dusk - the view was fantabulous! But we were there to eat - inside we went! Was a Saturday night, but we were able to find a table by the windows to look out over the river. Did not take an abnormally long time to receive our food (orders placed at counter) - dee-lish-ush! I had the Pulled Chicken Platter which was awesome while my Girlfriend had.... something else;) She raved about hers as well - BBQ sauce was fantastic. Vibe (lodge) was cool and we took shouts of the darkening sky over the river. We've definitely 'put a pin' here to add this to our dining rotation! Check it out! read more

The staff was very friendly. You paid for your order, got a number, chose where to sit and they would deliver. Being a beautiful day, we sat on the patio to enjoy the view. I swear we just sat down and our food was being delievered. They checked on us several times. The decor is nice, even the bathroom was cute. When we were done, we left as there was a sign they would bus the table. read more

They have a great location, but the quality of the BBQ is pretty low. Nothing had any flavor and was overpriced.

BBQ brisket is on point. Fork tender and well seasoned. Staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. The view of the river is very pleasing. Skeeters is soooo much better than Mission BBQ. If you love BBQ, you will not be disappointed here. read more

Was excited to try this place, but was disappointed by the quality of food. Several people tried the sliders and said it was lacking in flavor and very small portions of meat. The soup was also lukewarm and the chicken tenders were decent but nothing to write home about. Compared to Texas BBQ, it was a disappointment. The one good thing was the service and friendly people working here. The waitresses kept checking in on the tables and asking if people needed anything. read more

I absolutely love BBQ, and had to review this place. The only reason this isn't a one star, is because the experience of this restaurant is positively delightful. Beautiful location, clean restaurant, attentive and polite staff, feel-good atmosphere. The only thing missing - was the food! It was awful! I ordered the two meat combo of ribs and brisket. Both were bad, the ribs were worse. The ribs were tough and not flavorful. For the BBQ sauce, you get one choice. If you don't like it, that's it. I didn't like it. It was sweet, like a sweet chili sauce. I prefer a smoky, savory sauce. So, there was nothing to redeem the ribs with. The meat definitely didn't stand alone. The brisket was dry and flavorless. And, I already said that the bbq sauce didn't cut it. I only ordered the cold slaw as a side. And, I wasn't a fan. My partner ordered the chicken corn soup, and a pulled chicken slider. The soup was the best thing between us. The chicken was super dry and flavorless. It was hard to swallow without choking. I did tell the manager how bad the ribs and brisket were. He asked me what I wanted. The only thing left was chicken tenders. He gave me four tenders. They were very processed tasting and reminded me of chicken McNuggets from McDonalds. Albeit bigger. Kids would probably like them. They did have ketchup. I wish I could say that I'm coming back. If this was a bad day, and i could get better food, then definitely. Bbq is my favorite. But you can't eat atmosphere, no matter how nice it is. Sadly, I won't be back. Maybe you will like this food better than I did. read more

I recall someone mentioning "that place up on the hill" and she said her food was good. That was nearly ten years ago but when I went to meet some friends, I suggested coming here so we agreed to meet at Skeeter's. Then I read the reviews and wasn't sure if I made a good choice. Anyway, it was an enjoyable experience for us and our food, though slightly expensive, tasted good and was ready quickly. We sat outside which, on a 70 degree day with the sun shining, was delightful. Our server came by frequently to remove dishes and was very friendly. Two of us had pulled pork salads which were terrific. We also had fries for the table and they were amazing. Two sheriff's deputies came in and, if law enforcement is eating somewhere, you know it's going to be good since they try restaurants all over and can pick wherever they want to eat. If I come back, I'm getting one of the wraps because nearby customers had them and they looked fabulous (and they said they were). I also wouldn't have any problem sitting inside - the windows were large and the booths and tables looked comfortable and were well-spaced. Although our food was great, you come here for the view which didn't disappoint. read more

I had pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriend had smoked chicken salad sandwich and we shared a basket of fries. We were very happy with the food. It's an average bbq place but the only bbq we found along the route so we usually stop. Don't get the max and cheese bites. It's a small triangle of fake cheese. The kids chicken fingers are like a long McDonald's nugget. The pulled pork alone tastes plain and watered down but with the bbq sauce is decent. Fries are good. Seasoned. Crispy. Potato chips are generic and average. Sliders are as expected. A nice way to try the three meats. Casual. Beautiful view! Food came out fast to take it to go. More expensive than other bbqs. Rolls are good. Look homemade. (Sliders). Bbq sauce is good. We like when places have a couple diffeeent kinds. read more

My nephew loves BBQ and I guess he's been spoiled with good TX BBQ. He was excited to try Skeeters BBQ. Unfortunately this BBQ experience was a major fail. The brisket was dry, overcooked and it lacked the outside bark/char. Most of the food lacked flavor. The beans were subpar and no Mac and cheese! Who's heard of a BBQ restaurant that does not serve Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese is typically a staple at most BBQ restaurants. Skeeters lacks the true authenticity of real BBQ. Perhaps the pit masters need more training because their food is truly the pits! Overall it's overpriced for the quality of food they provide. read more

Staying in town for the weekend and I've never been here before. Let me first say the view is really nice from inside the restaurant and the staff was very friendly. They bring your food to you and also bus the tables. The food was just okay. I've had a lot better bbq and the price for what you get wasn't too impressive. I got the combo platter with 1/4 chicken and pulled pork. The sides are a corn muffin, baked beans and coleslaw. Everything was so dry. It just lacked flavor. I put bbq sauce on the meat and it just didn't do anything for me. The coleslaw barely had sauce on it and it was just really dry. For $22 I expected a lot more. My son had the 1/4 ribs and chicken tender basket. He said the ribs were okay to him. Overall it's a nice location to look outside and be by the river. But for those two meals and two fountain drinks, it came out to $49. Not sure I'd come back. read more

The first thing I can say is the barbecues there are delicious and same thing goes with the briskets and the rest of the menu of the foods are tasteful that will make your mouth watery and the fountain drinks going perfect with the foods there and the service there is good that it makes your experience feels like a kickstart. read more

I was excited to go eat at this location, unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. We ordered a rib platter and brisket platter & it was some of the driest bbq I've ever had. I'm not sure if it was due to being during the week and not the weekend. The service was good no complaints there. The setting is nice, the view is absolutely beautiful. I just wished the food would match up with the view, 63$ later and the best think was the fountain drink. read more

Hands down, one of the best lunch spots in the area to take a parent or a child. Think Mission BBQ but with a fairly decent and reasonably priced (I know my Harrisburg Elites will get it!) beer selection on tap. I reached out for the Mediterranean selection which was a mere special at the moment. It entailed fresh pulled chicken with a Green salad wrapped and served warm rather quickly (and cheerfully!) in a tortilla wrap. I almost reached out for the ribs and shrimp, but THAT shrimp is fried. This is BBQ at its best, so no corners cut. Vegetarians though do have options. Maybe vegans too....but I haven't followed cooking styles closely and what kind of oil they use to cook the vegetables in. Sawryyy to let those readers down. Easy to find, indoor and outdoor parking with beautiful views of the Susquehanna River right behind the boat launch... yahoo! read more

The location and view makes this place worth the visit if you're looking something quick and easy, no doubt about it. It's gorgeous up there, either sitting inside or on the ample outside seating area. Service was very good, happy friendly young people who seemed to like/care about their job. Food wasn't amazing, but serviceable for bbq. I didn't think the pork sandwich had much smoke to it, no hickory etc, and it didn't have any of the good crunchy bits from a good bark. I didn't particularly like the heavy bun the pork was on, either, as it took away from the sandwich, but my wife liked it so there ya go. The wings were pretty good. I would revisit just for the patio and ambiance. Would be GREAT if they had live music out there. Also, if the owner ever reads this, ditch the 16oz cup coozies for cab coozies! read more

We moved to the area six years ago from a city that had an abundance of excellent restaurants. One of the first local restaurants we tried was Skeeters. We were thrilled to find such a good restaurant in the middle of rural PA. We loved the food - the ribs were by far the best we had ever eaten. Skeeters became "our place" for date night. The ribs were consistently fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, flavorful, meaty, and there was not a spec of fat or gristle to be found. During COVID and after we noticed that the ribs were not the same quality we had come to expect. We started noticing fat in the ribs and the fat content seemed to increase over time. We ate Skeeters less and less as the ribs became fattier and less tender. Each time, we said we will give it one more chance. Tonight was the last chance. The ribs were full of fat, hard to cut, and dry. The server came by to ask if everything was OK. We showed her the fat and she offered to get us new ribs. We were appreciative as the new ribs were less fatty but still tough and dry. We understand that the price of everything has gone up and have seen the quality of restaurants go down across the board as owners try to balance rising costs with quality. But paying $30 for a half rack of bad ribs is not in our future. We want to support local restaurants and we will come back sometime and try the chicken. We are definitely done ordering ribs. read more

Beautiful place nice ambiance. The food was terrible. The brisket was tough the rib meat was hard to eat. Bbq should be tender. Missions bbq is way better. If you like a view go if you like bbq go somewhere else. Very expensive too, oh and no Mac and cheese!!!! Crazy smh, service was ok, nothing special read more

From the view, to the BBQ... Skeeters has it on lockdown. My second time being here, I decided to get the smoked wings. They came out piping hot, crispy, and Juicy!!! They came with a bbq sauce on them that was tasty, as well as battered french fries (would have preferred fresh cut fries) but were good nonetheless. The bbq sauce that was at the table seemed different than what was on the wings (the one on the table tasted better). I wish they had more sauce choices, and also a little bit bigger of a menu with different options. Overall, I would give it a 4.4/5. **Great service as well, food came out quick!! ** read more

In town for our daughter's track & field event at Susquehanna University, so before heading back home to NJ we needed some grub and figured we'd grab some BBQ with a great view. First off, the view is great. Secondly, the service was excellent. Thirdly, the place is very clean. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars. As for the BBQ, meh. First, the pulled pork nachos... it was like they opened bag of Tostitos and threw on a few pieces of pulled pork. Couldn't quite figure out if the pork was any good as there was hardly any on it. No other real condiments on it as well. No onions, jalapeños, etc. although they do give you a small container of salsa and sour cream. Also had the wings which were pretty good, meaty, juicy with a nice sweet/spicy sauce. The draft beer was also very good. Yeah, I know I didn't try the ribs or brisket but to be honest with you, it didn't look all that great coming off the cutters counter. So come for the view and keep your order simple here. read more

Food was good, we all enjoyed it esp the corn bread. Staff was friendly. Nice location and restaurant was well furnished and clean.

Stopped in for a business lunch. Very good brisket, great service, lots of choices on menu, great view!

Went to Skeeters last night for the first time. Order at the counter, food is brought to the table and tables are bussed by the staff at the end of the night. I had 2 meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, beans, fries and cornbread. The portion sizes were great and fairly priced. Pulled pork had a bunch of flavor, but had a lot of sauce on it so it was hard to tell how it would be without (I prefer it without sauce). The brisket was the only disappointment of the evening. It was bone dry and pretty clear it had been sliced earlier or the brisket itself was overdone. If I go back, I probably wouldn't do the brisket again. If you're super picky on BBQ, this might not be the place, but if you're in town and need a place with a great view and quality service, this is a great option. With a little work, they could be 5 stars. read more

Decent BBQ. Good flavor but ribs are not fall-off-the-bone tender. Sides are average (coleslaw, corn muffin and bean soup). Only one choice of BBQ sauce, which tasted good, but I wish there were more choices. Scenery is 5/5 though! It would be even prettier in the fall. Decor is rustic river theme. Look up when you eat! We've always wanted to stop at this place as we've seen it while driving through PA. We finally stopped this weekend. LOCATION: Not a bad location - tucked way up a hill. The view from the restaurant is great! It was chilly so we ate inside, but they do have a deck, which would be great in the summer. Decor inside is pretty cool. STAFF: Friendly and helpful FOOD: Eh... I've had better. We ordered the ribs and brisket combo platter. The ribs were very dry and I had to pry them off the bone. There wasn't a lot of meat on them. The brisket portion was good, but it was very bland. Didn't really tasted "smoked" or barbequed. They only have one choice for BBQ sauce. Unusual.... any other BBQ joints we've visited have several options/choices for sauces at the table. I was very unimpressed with our meal. Well, we can cross it off our list as we finally made the stop. But I wouldn't eat here again. read more

So, I was not super impressed by this place. This is my first time eating here. So when you enter the restaurant you have to look at their giant menu board and figure out what you want to eat then you go order at the register, and then you get a number and you go find your table. You can either eat outside or your can eat inside. We chose to eat outside and I will detail that at the end of this review. I got the 1/4 ribs and shrimp. The ribs were very dry. They were smoked and very dry and not a lot of flavor to them. I got 4 jumbo shrimp that tasted like they were frozen. The coleslaw tasted like normal store bought. The french fries were good. You are given styrofoam cups and coffee cup lids for the drinks. I'm not a big fan of styrofoam because it's so bad for the environment. My wife had the beef kabob and she enjoyed it. I thought everything was a bit over priced. We sat on the balcony overlooking the highway and the river which was a very nice view. We even saw a Bald Eagle flying which was fantastic. The balcony though could use work. There are weeds growing everywhere through the cement of the balcony and the railings are covered in spider webs and dead spiders. In my opinion if you're going to offer seating outside, you should probably have the outside clean. Walking through the inside it looked nice and clean. I did notice one cook leaning against a counter banging the tongs he was holding on his leg. I don't think that's very sanitary. I don't think I will ever come back here. read more

Traveling through the area from Maryland, this gem caught my eye going north. Cool place! Had the corn soup which was very good. May want to pull the smoked wings out of the fryer a few seconds earlier but over all, I enjoyed what I ate. My wife liked the smoked chicken wrap too. I'd stop in again to try the ribs, brisket or pulled pork on my way down to MD again. But on the way back, we just wanted to get home. read more
