Belgian single

A pleasant surprise of a brewery during a stroll around my AirBnB's neighborhood. Very much what you imagine with a small, local brewing set up. But, a bonus, outlets under the bar! As someone who enjoys working from a brewery occasionally, this is a huge asset. A nice rage of beer styles and ABVs. So a little bit for everyone. I tried two beers, one Belgian and an IPA. Pretty tasty! I love an open brewery where you can see the brewing process as a customer. There were only two customers when I arrived, but not long after a few couples began to drift in. I loved the chill and relaxed environment. It was also a cozy spaces. Not overwhelmingly large as some breweries can be.

I have to remember to leave a review right on the spot because it was months ago when I visited so my apologies for the delay. I forgot the bartenders name but she was so sweet, enthusiastic, stern, yet gentle, knowledgeable & funny. The beers I tried were ok but one stood out which is the one I shared a picture of. Winter is coming with that one. They also had someone making fresh pizza during the open mic, pizza was amazing & so were the performers. I'll definitely be back for sure!

My trivia team and I wanted to try a new spot. I really liked the setup of this brewery. Lots of outdoor seating available. The guys running the trivia were really nice and funny. All of the staff we encountered were great. I do personally think the beers need more work. There are so many breweries now to compete with so your beer has to be pretty tasty. I would go back for the trivia and the vibe. Hopefully as time passes the beer gets better but I'm definitely planning on a return visit to support.

They are in a soft opening phase and are adding new beers each week.

Another new brewery in Mid-City!! Yes, please and THANK YOU!! They are in the soft opening phase as they brew more beers to add to the line-up each week. At this point they have 6 beers and are only open a few days each week. Looking forward to trying the next batch of beers as they roll them out. Welcome to the neighborhood!!

Quest for Darren - yum!!!

Oh my goodness! Great vibe great beer!!! I live round the corner and decided to stop in on a lazy Sunday. Tried several of the beers all delicious! Can't decide on a favorite, somewhere between Quest for Darren, amber, galexy brown ale or yacht rock. All so good!!! A ver welcome addition to the neighborhood.

While in mid-city, took the opportunity to visit NOLA's newest addition to the robust microbrewery scene. Good service. Decent beers, although we did prefer the ones we had at Zony Mash. Relatively small inside space, but spacious covered outdoor area with TV, games and a food truck serving some good looking tacos and Mexican fare. Will definitely give them another chance after a few months of perfecting their craft.

First time here. Loved this brewery off the parkway. Really nice staff, and even had a sandwich food truck outside for food. Also, had table games for people to play, really nice vibes.

Great place to relax with awesome beer.

Urban South Brewery - Beer Flights (IPA & Sour)

For a craft beer fan like me, Urban South is my mecca whenever I'm in New Orleans. I love their…read morevibe and they would easily be my watering hole if I lived anywhere nearby. For now, I'll just settle with a visit anytime I'm around the Irish Channel. The brewery is a wide-open warehouse that's set up in a way to accommodate both patrons and brewing operations. They have a great selection of merch, as well as games and events throughout the year. I wish I had thought to ask for a tour on this last trip just to get a closer look, but I can save that for another time. I truly appreciate the wide variety of beers that Urban South has on tap. You can take any kind of beer drinker to their taproom and everyone will be able to find something that they'll enjoy. Sours are my first choice beer-wise and that Lime Cucumber Gose or the Rocket Pop are always winners. On top of beer, they also brew hard seltzers, non-alcoholic versions of their core beers, a line of THC seltzers, as well as create hard iced tea and house seltzer cocktails. I'm so happy to have made it over to the taproom for Mardi Gras this year to grab a 4-pk of Carnival Time (the sour series made with Dong Phoung king cake). There are four different flavors - traditional, almond, coconut, and strawberry - of which I am highly anticipating on drinking.

There appears to be street parking as well as some available lots nearby. Walking up from the water the first thing you see is this gigantic New Orleans mural and it's indicative of the brewery inside the same building - huge warehouse, it even has camper parked inside with a bar that extends much of the back wall. There are picnic tables so plenty of seating. I was there an early Monday afternoon so it wasn't busy at all, but I could imagine it being filled with lines to satisfy throngs of partygoers. There are five vertically placed flat-panel monitors with a variety of drink-menu options. I chose to get a flight of beers I hadn't had previously which ended up being 4 varietals of their King Cake Ale: * Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Creamy pale, almost registers as a fruited sour, sweet body with notes of almond, amaretto, cinnamon and vanilla. 4/5 * Coconut King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Milky coconut in this almost tart King Cale ale, getting notes of both raw and toasted coconut, almond, amaretto, sweet vanilla and cinnamon. 4.3/5 * Almond Crème Strawberry King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Creamy body with distinct almond note followed by vanilla and cinnamon. 4.2/5 * Strawberry King Cake Ale - Pale Ale - Other 6% - Fruity tart strawberry in this pale ale, finishes fruity and sweet, a touch dry. 4.1/5 Overall I enjoyed the beers I had - all very drinkable. The cinnamon was a bit much all at once, these are almost dessert beers and better taken in small amounts after you've slammed a few of their staple beers, in my opinion, but I'm still very glad I had them. The staff and service was good with an efficient demeanor - I think if they were slightly friendlier I might have stuck around and tried more of what they offered but as my second brewery (and plans for more exploration in the evening) I decided to keep things neat with this single flight. Afterwards I walked back up to St Charles and took a short nap and got cleaned up for evening shenanigans.

This may be (no surprise) my favorite part, tho the library toilet gives it a good run. This is where the cat shelters, food & water are & you can expect to be able to spot at least one kitteh, probably more. Some will think pets are a good idea, while others may react like they've never seen it a human before. I love that these guys are caring for the local cat population, including vetting. Inside is warm & welcoming, with staff that are happy to help you pick your poison. Out back, you'll be in a lush garden-space. They even have a can of insect repellent to prevent the mosquito buffet. The icing on the cake, the beer was good, too. We liked it enough to go back the day before we left!

If you stay around long enough, Patrick, the beautiful orange tabby, will decide your lap needs warming and will take a nap for a bit. The outdoor space is just perfect, large and shady with a lot of seating. We relaxed here for a while. Behind the bar, well, you couldn't find a more helpful crew! I threw out the mood I was in, and I enjoyed two different beers - one IPA and one coffee porter, both hit he spot, and were both nice to budget. I hope to make it back to try more of the brews and maybe just sit and enjoy another beautiful day!

I have probably been a dozen or more times, and they are always changing things up. New IPA's, Pilsners, stouts, and sours about every time I go. This last time I went they had a habanero-pickle sour, but I was too big of a chicken to try it. Their Soft Focus DIPA was phenomenal, however. The inside is small, but the courtyard is a really cool place to sit even on a July afternoon as it is shaded with plants and umbrellas. They have different food vendors all the time and crawfish every spring. On our last visit, we had a really good Detroit style pizza. I will keep going because they are always trying to brew new beers and because it's my girlfriend's favorite brewery in Nola. If they still have the habanero pickle sour, I may even try it.
