Wow the ice wasn't the best of conditions and it was really humid and somewhat foggy inside, at least they gave enough time for competitors to have a 15 minute warm up roughly before their sessions. They moved all the benches for some vendors and to get more space inside.

They did serve fast food there, but I didn't try it. There was a horrendous restroom line at the end of the show - chronic problem with women's restrooms in public places. It was quite informal. There was no assigned seating. Even though the show I saw featured an international celebrity, it was very low-key, and a hockey team walked in as soon as the show was over. It definitely feels more like the kind of athletic facility that parents take their kids to for skating lessons, rather than a formal arena. I didn't see any major maintenance issues. It was pretty easy to get to from the subway, using the M23 bus. One thing I didn't know was that the bus had a special stop at the end, which would've been more convenient. I got off at the corner of 23rd and 11th Ave., but I should've stayed on for one more stop.

We've shopped at Paragon for decades and always had good to great experiences there. The staff is…read morewell-informed, has integrity and the merchandise is of excellent quality. Tonight l had another great experience at Paragon thanks to the sensitivity and good nature of Mike R in the upstairs shoe and boot department. As a rule, my 88-year old husband doesn't like to buy himself new clothes. But after what feels like weeks in this polar vortex, with him stubbornly trudging and slipping through the snow in old rubber rain boots and a cane, l stopped hinting and put my foot down: we were going to buy him some warm, waterproof boots with cleats. Knowing that he might only put up with one outing, I decided to scout Paragon on my own, first. Mike R. advised me he had only one style of boot that fit what l was looking for and not many sizes left. When he came back with a size in the ballpark, l asked if he could hold it for me. Mike was blunt: he couldn't do any 24-hour holds with the stock so low, but he could hold it for two hours. I thanked him, explaining that if l bought these and presented them to my husband as a done deal he would never even try them on. But we'd be back, within the hour. When we arrived on the floor, Mike picked right up on the dynamic: this was not a customer for a hard sell. And so Mike was the soul of discretion. He kept a low profile, talking quietly and only to me and showed up just often enough to be helpful. He was patient, kind and l got the feeling he was enjoying the challenge of selling without ever even connecting with the guy trying on the boots. And Mike's strategy worked! We made the transition from my husband's original reaction to the only boots in his size ("l hate them!") to walking out with four pairs of socks and that same pair of warm, waterproof boots with cleats. I am deeply grateful to and frankly in awe of Mike R, Paragon boots department. Thank you!

Sure it's a lot about selling merch--cool, unique, not available everywhere merch at that though--and the prices are not cheap, but they also took great pains to incorporate artwork and interactive exhibits in the back, and I think have hosted events here with Mets and SNY personnel. Like the now impressive team and its wonderful stadium, this is another smaller but appreciated example of the care and thought and excellence--and love of all things Mets and the desire to celebrate that love--that have completely transformed this franchise under the auspices of the only billionaire we should allow to survive The Purge, our beloved Uncle Steve.

Beyond the Mets ware, (including with new uniform designs,) collectibles, plush and other stuff, you'll find other reasons to go and check it out! For out-of-town fans of other teams, you can have a lot of fun too! There's a "Mets Match Your Swing" motion capture cage that's great! A big screen Mets gaming wall! A mini Mets Museum with memorabilia! Mets House also offers ticket deals and victory celebrations! (Let's go, Mets!) Absolutely big on Mr. Met, and there's a lot of there with him! You'll also find items with Mrs. Met too! (Need to eventually replace my well-worn super favorite Mr. Met cap sported in my Yelp profile photo, so looking for options!) Check out their website for events, like the free mochi offered during my visit. They also have Apple live podcast recordings at Met House's "The Dugout" studio. The only thing I didn't see, which should be in the Mets House line up, Grimace! Thank you, Mets, for making this in-town fan stop happen! Ya gotta believe!
