The new name is Baierl Ice Complex and hopefully the yelp gods in SF will update the business name :). They have a real snack bar selling fresh coffee and hot food, among other snack bar fare. They have two sheets of ice, skate rental for public skate, a small synthetic ice court for ADM practice, a weight room, and a KoSports pro shop. It's a nice, full service facility and as a youth hockey parent I am so glad that it remains so. Surely it helps that the Pens new facility isn't too far away!

They ignored my wife's comments. They later realized they had X-rayed the wrong portion of her body. Hey, have you ever thought about actually listening to the patient? My impression: incompetence! You check in with the self service kiosk. I had an 8am appointment, with required 7:45 arrival & I was out by 8:10. Plenty of parking at that time of day. If you haven't been here it's hard to find from Rt 228, but you turn in at Cranberry Springs Dr & the go left up the hill. The complex is across from Firebirds Restaurant. Enter the UPMC side of the building & take elevator to second floor & turn right. Staff always very friendly.

People were parking in lots of adjacent businesses including the Target which was not a short walk. The cartways are really small and narrow that someone got hit in the lot. Number of handicapped spaces was limited to two which seems low for the carrying capacity of the building. The ramp isn't even close to ADA. The ledge to get in two of the rinks is very high. One not so much but they didn't put the disabled folks on the "low" ledge rink, even when requested for the next day. Not a 5 star rink in my opinion

If someone is struggling to skate, they give you tips to help you out. They even offer days to skate for free through the app called myhownd. A very small fee you pay to skate there for free. The people who have put a couple bad review in on 2/22/25 are Fulse. The one family member who was an adult was skating erratically and keep falling and making a seen. The lady with the kid on a leash looked normal. This is a roller-skating rink not for people to walk on with a kid on a leash. The review for waiting for skate o well everywhere you have to wait. The girls were helping other on the rink.

I have been to Hess to watch several of my husbands hockey games. It's an old ice hockey rink, but…read moreevery time I walk in there, I see a new trophy that was brought home from the younger teams! That goes to show that the coaches there are of quality. I appreciate the heating unit above the stands where the spectators sit. However, on two occasions, I have been close to being in the line of fire of hockey pucks that went out over the netting hanging above the glass. It may be in Hess's best interest to have the netting reach to the ceiling so that other spectator's do not have such close calls with pucks. I am disappointed that the snack bar isn't open later. My husbands games are often between 9:30pm-10:30pm and there have been times where dinner is minimal. There is almost always a staff member behind the snack bar but they are never open. If more people come to watch the games at this time, it might be worth it for the facility to at least have it open for items such as granola bars. There is a vending machine with chips and pretzels, but there are no healthy(ier) options available.
