Management doesn't care about workers, work life balance or the public in general. High turn over rate. I sometimes have to go to Anacortes for work. Once my car broke down and I had to rely on their transit services. It's a great system. $1.50 will get you an all day bus pass and the driver told me $20 gets you a monthly pass. Their service gets you all around town and is reliable. Plus, whenever I'm in the area, I see their SKAT logo and my inner junior high student bursts into hysterical laughter. read more

I really like being a rider of Skagit Transit. :) I ride Route 90X, and I like that the seats recline, that I have a reading lamp and air vent, that I can depend on the driver to be on-time, and that I can depend on the bus to be clean. I am not familiar with the city transit but new enough that the bus would take me to the terminal to where I could walk from there to pick up my car at a shop and make it to the doctor appt in time . I found the bus stop and waited 35 minutes for the bus and even though I waved the bus passed me by and did not pick me up . I picked up the phone and called the bus station because now I am gonna be late. I spoke with the supervisor and he was so nice about it he sent Melinda in a transit van to come and pick me up. I am so thankful they literally drove the extra way to take me straight to where my car was so I could make my appt on time . This was what I call customer service thank you very much . read more

Pros: The fares are cheap and usually get you where you need to go, the 90X I ride the most and the ride is so comfortable, it simulates the feel of an airplane actually, I've fallen asleep during the 55 min rides by accident! Cons: I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk or wait another hour in the freezing cold because a lot of the time the transfer times don't connect or I've been passed by the drivers! Yesterday the 208 was scheduled to come at 7:15 and I checked with one bus driver, and was left waiting until I asked someone else who said it didn't come until 7:45 and I missed my transfer and had to ask a huge favor of a friend or I would have been stranded! Another girl was with me and had the same transfer and we ended up giving her a ride too. UNRELIABLE. Also the bus drivers can be unprofessional. I heard one bus driver talking to a man about how his father in law thinks "If you ride a bus you aren't worth anything" and although it wasn't the bus driver's opinion you could see the annoyed look on the man's face to the put down. I also have heard a bus driver discussing SEX with a rider so that made me very uncomfortable. The buses are good if you NEED to go somewhere but I wouldn't ride them by choice other wise. read more
