In a time when air travel can be a huge pain and it seems that so many other airports have forgotten the customer experience the Duluth International Airport is taking a different approach. From the time you arrive at Duluth International Airport you are greeted with ample parking including covered parking in the parking ramp. There is also a covered Skywalk from the parking ramp to the beautiful James L. Oberstar terminal building. Inside, the terminal is bright and open with a whole wall of windows allowing sunlight. The lines at check-in always are quick and easy for dropping off any checked baggage and the staff is friendly. Then, it's time to go upstairs to the security checkpoint which may be the fastest security line I have ever used in an airport. In the gate area there is comfortable seating prior to boarding as well as charging stations for your electronics. There is also the new Club DLH available for a charge for those who need to do some work or some quiet relaxation prior to your flight. Sometimes it is a little more expensive to fly into Duluth as opposed to MSP, but if you can make it work, it's always worth it. Here's hoping the cost differential of the drive down 35 continues to get closer so that more people can take advantage of all that Duluth International Airport has to offer!

While our group of 10 were in line the staff person using a small phone was checking us in & could not find our reservation even though it was stated clearly. We all were standing in the hot sun & then to finally board, going to the 2nd level to find windows closed and A/C not working worth a hoot. The tour guide used a handheld microphone which was crap. During the cruise a guy came up from the engine room in greasy dirty clothes looking like he was learing at the people around. Would not recommend

The inn has incredible character with ornate hall carpets, stained glass, and high ceilings. Check in took only a few minutes and he explained different services available during our stay. Our room overlooked the lake, a really pretty view. It was a deluxe room and had nice space for two people, with a king bed, desk with chair, two upholstered chairs, and a mini fridge concealed in the entertainment center. The bathroom wasn't as tiny as many hotels, and seemed as if it had been renovated in the past few years. The hotel included small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, as there were no installed pumps on the walls. In the morning, the nearby board room had coffee available (tasty stuff, according to my husband) plus apples, bananas, and an assortment of granola bars and similar bars. There were also some board games available for guests. Our first night there, on a Thursday, was incredibly quiet. No road noise, no noises within the hotel. Even the AC was quiet. Our experience Friday and Saturday wasn't as pleasant because we had very loud people on one side who were talking and laughing past 11pm and also had dogs that yapped at random intervals. So, just an unfortunate draw as to who our neighbors were. That was the only negative, though. We loved how many things were walkable from our room. We went in most all the nearby shops and bought a number of things, too. People should know that the parking garage is on the other side of the complex; valet parking is also available but we didn't utilize it.

We've stayed at Fitger's many times over the years and always appreciated the charm, service, and…read moreattention to detail, but our last stay was pretty disappointing. In our room we noticed wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in the window screen, cracked and peeling paint on the ceiling, a sagging mattress, and just a general sense that the place was not getting a lot of love. It was sad to see this great hotel in such a state of disrepair. I truly hope they can turn it around.

It's great if you have little ones with short attention spans. We've also done Two Harbors Turn, which is an all day excursion up to Two Harbors. While there they have busses that will drop you off at a restaurant of your choice. The staff on the train is excellent and full of answers. I highly recommend making time for the railroad museum as well.

We had an absolutely awesome experience tonight…read more We started at the Duluth Huskies stadium (Wade Stadium) and enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the field, locker room, and grounds, we were also treated to stories about the history of the team. The general manager was our tour guide... he was one of the friendliest and knowledgeable people I've ever met! The stadium and team are rich with history, even down to the bricks they used to erect the entrance to the field. Dave was our bus driver and tour guide for the night. After the stadium tour he took us to Bent Paddle where we were able to samples some brews and enjoy the atmosphere, what a cool place! Their beers are outstanding! The 14 degrees ESB is a GABF (Great American Beer Festival) winner! I would highly recommend trying it. There's an awesome BBQ joint that will deliver to the tasting room too! We ended the night back at the stadium with a Huskies' baseball game. The won in walkoff fashion! It was a great game! We are looking foreword to another tour. I would highly recommend a tour with Duluth Experience.

I was in Duluth for my brother's wedding and didn't know anything about the city or the area. I was with my then-boyfriend and we knew it was a beautiful area, but wasn't sure the best way to experience it all. That is when I booked us on the Scenic North Shore Bicycle Tour. It was by far the best thing we did in Duluth (minus watching my brother get married,ha) and we were raving about it to all the weddings guests all weekend. The guys running the show were great to talk to and they clearly thought of everything. If you are traveling to Duluth and want to really have the best tour guides, book with them.

We stayed in a pet friendly Lake Home Guest Room, and the room itself was nice. It had a queen bed, a twin bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a big bathroom. One thing to note is that the entrance to the neighboring guest room is right next to your door. We were lucky the first night and had no neighbors, but the second night we did and my dog barked at every footstep she heard. Next time, out of respect for our neighbors (and to give our dog more space) we'd probably opt for a pet friendly cabin instead. One nice thing about the guestroom is that you do have a view of the lake. Unfortunately, the restaurant was just okay. We ordered takeout for both dinner and breakfast, and while it was fine, nothing really stood out. I was really looking forward to using the pool, hot tub, and sauna. Sadly, the pool was closed during our stay. The hot tub was open, but I couldn't figure out how to keep the bubbles on, which was a bit of a letdown. The lodge does seem to offer great amenities like bonfire pits and s'mores, which we were excited about. Unfortunately, they weren't out while we were there. I know these are weather dependent, but the weather didn't seem that bad while we were there. The staff were incredible, everyone from the front desk to the restaurant were nice and accommodating to any request we needed.

Typical fitness center for a Fairfield (some treadmills, elliptical, two benches, dumbbell rack, exercise ball). Indoor pool is right next to the fitness center. The quiche that they served for the free breakfast was FIREEE but I know they change up their breakfast every day so it's not always available. I will absolutely be staying here again next time I come to Duluth.

The room was very nice, larger than a typical FI space and in good shape since it felt like a newer property. We were pleased that the mini-fridge had a freezer compartment but alas it did not freeze anything! The breakfast was standard fare. Overall a solid stay.
