Pros: They greeted me and took me immediately as a walk in--yay! Though they are primarily Spanish speaking and I am sadly not, there was no issue with language barrier for getting what I want. I feel well understood. They sat me and quickly found a good gel color match. Everything that makes a pretty gel pedi look is possible. But... Cons: No posh massage chairs or designated pedi area at all. The technician will place a plastic non electric tub of water under the manicure desk and work with your feet placed to her chair under the table. It 's a no frills not particularly indulgent gel pedi. She briefly utilized a regular manual foot file/emory board to soften feet a little, but I totally miss the efficient electric files I'm used to! Note: NO SHADE on QOD and my nice nail tech Carolina is meant by these comments! End result is adequate and the price is commensurate for West Kendall Miami. However, since I only get a gel pedi every couple of months or so, I really prefer more of a special "spa" experience. It wasn't particularly enjoyable or relaxing at all. And no chit chat, since I don't speak enough Spanish. They do get the job done and "nailed the look" (haha), but I prefer a particular experience: foot massage, special comfy chairs, electric jacuzzi foot tubs, etc. I'm very willing to pay more for the experience! If you are into the look of your pedicure only, then it's fine. Still, I paid over $50 for a no frills gel pedi. Next month I may try a Groupon for a new place, until I find a match for me. Every suite is either private with just one hair dresser or nail tech or I saw up to three in one suite. It was so cool walking to find my suite as all the doors are like sliding glass doors so you can see inside each suite. When I finally found Belkis(suite 9) I loved how she's solo and the cute earthy decor she had going on (one wall is completely covered in fake Ivy). She has 2 chairs, a bench, and one chair with sink attached to wash your hair. I was seen within15 minutes of my appointment which was great because I ran about 5 minutes late. Belkis was well known because people kept stopping by to say hi, even other hairstylists. I had done the balayge (with someone else) months ago and it really damaged my hair. I had to cut over 3 inches off and was left with just blonde tips. I needed some serious hair therapy, a trim, and definitely dye. I'm not a fan of shoet hair for myself so I was very specific about trimming JUST the split ends (you know some hairstylists tend to get scissor happy) with Belkis I had no worries. She dyed my hair first, then did a conditioning treatment and whennit was time to teim my hair she showed me before picking up the scissors, how much needed to be cut. I was pleasantly surprised cause it wasn't that bad. After she blowdryed and then planchaed(flat iron my hair..I have alot of Dominican friends and 2 half Dominican sisters..they say plancha alot). When I was done I was estatic! My hair looked healthy,shiny, and just 1000 times better! Belkis was honest about hair care and how often I should trim my hair and no more bleaching and dyeing my hair, really overjoyed with my outcome (my hair desperately needed this TLC) so Thank you so much Belkis and see you in 2 months for the next trim!
