Wanted to kill an hour after work. Looked for massage places close by and ended up here after calling to confirm availability for a walk in. Asked for the Swedish flow massage. Asked for focus areas, pointed out calves and back. Pressure is good but could use some nuance. Definitely got lots of work on the back but the masseuse was probably too comfortable with letting my muscles roll around under pressure, as opposed to gentler pressure to get the muscles to release. That said, I feel my back is sore but relaxed now a day later, so maybe I just need to trust the process. They also threw in the signature stretches even though I was expecting just Swedish techniques. Not necessarily a bad thing but unexpected. The masseuse had a good time laughing at my groans during the stretches and also the calf and back work. Facilities were dark but seemed clean and comfortable. Temperature was a little warm but adjusted once I asked, and it turned frigid quickly. That was also corrected once I spoke up again, so at least they're responsive. All in, especially with its convenient location for me, it remains in consideration for future visits. read more

I bought a groupon for a combo massage. The massage therapist, I believe Annie was her name, was not good at all. I have had thai massages before and greatly enjoyed them, however i did not enjoy it at all at Siya. Additionally, I tipped Annie a generous amount and based on the groupon price, and she stopped me in the lobby and insisted i tip her double (in front of everyone) and waited until i double zelled her. Upon my trip to the Third Avenue location; I was informed by the concierge that the Spa had moved. Yes, I understand the frustration of the reviewer who complained, but once this situation was addressed my fiancé and I had outstanding massages.The therapists were knowledgeable, competent and strong. We met the owner Siya when we were leaving. She explained her reason for discontinuing with Groupon and apologized for any prior inconvenience. I'm always so skeptical of massage spas, especially in the city. Most are all glitzy with aroma therapy and lemon water but nothing that truly treats your muscles. WELL NO MORE- located in an intimate corner suite on E 60th street off Park and Madison are two of the strongest women that put our muscles to work. I use Groupon to try out massage parlors; and I did read some previous reviews about Siya not accepting it but it looks like they do now. Scheduling an appointment was super easy and quick- told them I wanted the earliest appointment for two with a Groupon voucher and she managed to schedule us in at noon the very next day. Upon arrival we were advised to use the bathroom, then ushered into a small room where we told to strip down to our underwear (make sure to prepare cute ones!), tucked ourselves under sheets, and proceeded to be reborn. The Thai combo consists of Swedish massage-like rubbing with coconut oil (you'll smell delicious) and your hardcore Thai massage- feet on your back, pretzel bending madness everyone's always looking for when they enter any Asian massage parlor. They asked for problem areas at the beginning of our session. Not only were our petite masseuses super strong, they were also very knowledgable of our bodies- they were able to pin point our knots and misalignments as they worked on kneading every problem and stress out. This massage is definitely not for those looking for the lemon water and fluffy robes to instagram- this is for those who want to repent for mistreating their bodies with bad posture and unavoidable stress. From head to toe, literally everything was worked on. Absolutely loved it and will be returning! read more

I had a 1hr with JJ, and was surprisingly underwhelmed. She uses alot of elbows and it felt like light caressing until I asked her to go stronger. I felt like she didn't get deep enough when we did some of the stretching. I'm an athlete so I was hoping to get more out of this, but I think the cheaper chinese massages are actually better. Her body cracked more than mine during the massage haha I also wish they would have asked what I wanted to work on, or where I was tight because I felt like my masseur had no idea and was just going through the motions. She also spent more time on my left side than my right (dominant side). They're super friendly though and gave me a small water bottle and ginger candy upon leaving. OH! If you get a groupon- they also charge $12 in tax! I had no idea so I was only able to leave a $11 tip for the masseur which I felt bad about. read more

I can't say enough about SIYA! I have been coming to her for 3 years now and at this point at least monthly- sometimes when I'm really tight or have a special area that needs work ill be back in 2 weeks. I am NEVER disappointed and ALWAYS get SERIOUS Release. Yes sometimes I'm sore a day or two- but it is SO worth it NOT to walk around carrying unnecessary tension in your body. She gets the kinks and knots OUT as much as you can stand. AGAIN as I've said before- pressure can be adjusted of course- but I like the FULL anointing of the hands and the Full stretching. We drove up to visit family in NYC and my husband's back was killing him so my sister suggested he go to Siya for a massage.... he blew it off because he said he had never had a massage that actually worked but he eventually went in and was blown away.
