SIXT Car Rental, located throughout Germany has been a steadfast and reliable source of car rentals for us since we have moved here. Although there have been several times that I have made a reservation online and not gotten the car I wanted, it always seemed to work out. Until recently. We rented a car online about 4 weeks before our vacation last week. We also chose Diesel as a choice - on the reservation form, as something we required. I showed up on Friday, February 21st to pick up my vehicle. I actually informed them that I did not need the vehicle immediately but that I would pick it up later that day. I told them I had a reservation for something resembling a small minivan that was diesel. The lady at the desk informed me that they had some kind of Nissan SUV that was regular gas or an Audi Wagon A4 that was diesel. (cue the crickets) What? I made a reservation, on the reservation page they showed things that I would have gotten but were displaying as not available. For example I would have gone with a BIGGER wagon that was diesel. Or a Ford SMax Minivan that was diesel. They were all listed as unavailable. So the next best thing that was available was something resembling a VW Touran Diesel - or something in it's class. I looked at their site again and neither the larger Nisaan SUV or the Audi A4 are in this category. I was stuck. We needed a vehicle. I reserved this online. I showed up. I did not want to be charged for canceling the reservation on the spot. I needed a car and I knew that SIXT has been considerably reliable. So we got the Audi A4 Diesel wagon, as it was the only diesel thing on their lot that wasn't smaller than a Mini Cooper. We reserved a bigger car because we were going skiing, not because we were two childless adults going on a beach trip and only needed to pack our bikinis. We were going on a SKI TRIP WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN. Maybe Sixt workers do not have kids? So they think you can pack two small children and their crap load of ski winter clothes into the glovebox of a mini cooper (they are small right? so their stuff is small?). I used to love SIXT but I can now say I will not be renting from them. After we jam packed into the car and went on a SKI TRIP for a week with TWO KIDS....I will be suggesting everyone take their business elsewhere, even if it costs a few extra dollars. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! We got email traffic stating this today 20 Sep 2018. They do not check the car as you turn it in and then charge a lot of money stating you damaged their car. If you do turn it in without them there take pictures of the car but this still does not help you. Go to another rental agency or you will be scammed and owe about $1000.00 or more to them. read more

DO NOT Rent from them! We rented a car and it was covered in dirt and water spots when we received it. We had it two days, and turned it in scratch free. Over a week after we returned it, we received an email saying there was damage. They said it had minor scratches, less than 5 cm in length on one of the doors, and we owed 1,200 euros to fix it! We did some researching and to buy a completely new door from the manufacturer of that car would cost around 780 euros! How can they justify a little paint costing more than a new door? That is extreme for a minor scratch we didn't cause. Seems like they are scammers! read more

"PLEASE DO NOT GET A CAR FROM SIXT" You want to know why? I have full explanation below and please do read so you won't have to deal with what I had to go through. We went to SIXT at Ramstein Air BASE on 10th September 2016 to reserve a premium car for our trip. We asked the lady we need premium car like E-Class Mercedes, UNLIMITED mileage, Automatic Transmission, Navigation. The lady says "Yes, We have E-Class Mercedes and it is Euro 113.00 for one day that includes Unlimited kilometer, Automatic Transmission, Diesel Engine and Navigation. We were like ok reserve it please and she did reserve a car and also added additional driver for some additional charge. We asked when we come to pick up the car in the evening, Are you going to be here? she said "NO" Martinez will be here then we said that's fine. Now, we went to pick up car and sign paper work at 0750pm on the same day and we talked to Ms. Martinez and again we confirmed asking "The car comes with Unlimited Mileage, Automatic Transmission and Navigation right". She says "Yes" and you are lucky that you got the car that you wanted on the same day. She made me sign and initial some documents and there was the block where I initial for "You have free Unlimited Kilometer" and then got the car keys and finished the paper work at 0750pm. We also asked when is our drop off time and Ms. Martinez says 0830pm next day and she was saying 15min is a grace period and we were like ok thank you and left the place. Next day on Sunday at sharp 0800pm we dropped of the keys. Thursday evening is the day when the charge was posted on my account which was $255. I was like how in the world Euro 113.00 becomes $255 then I called SIXT on Friday 16 September 2016 at 0903 and asked Mam I got charged more than I was supposed to be charged. She gets my last name and checks then tells me, "You drove more than 900kilometers and that is why there is additional charge on your account". (Readers: You see their service, what they tell you and what they do?????). I lost my mind and I was like when we got the car the lady did say Unlimited kilometers, Automatic Transmission, Diesel engine and Navigation for Euro 113.00 and now you are saying I drove more than 900km. She tells me, "It's on the contract and you should read the contract". I was like, NOPE the only reason I rented the car because it had UNLIMITED KILOMETERS and now you are saying I drove more than 900km. Then she tells me, I will talk to the headquarter and will refund the amount by Tuesday which is 4 days from now. I will wait to see if I get the refund or not then I will post one more review. So, I guess you guys understood how they treat customers and how the employees give misleading information to the customers and overcharge your account. They are "THIEF". Be very careful if you decide to rent a car from the Sixt in the KMCC. This past Feb a lady hit my car so my insurance company provided me with a rental car while my car was in the shop. They had me get the car from Sixt in the KMCC. I drove the car to and from work and returned the car two days later, no issues. Months later I received a letter asking me to fill out an incident report for a scratch on the back quarter panel. I went in and spoke to them, stating that there wasn't any scratches on it when I returned it. Btw, I had asked them to come out and inspect the car when I returned it but they said they do it at "their convenience," they hadn't inspected it with me when I picked it up either. The lady told me to simply state that it wasn't there and nothing had happened while the car was in my care on the report. She told me they would contact me if there was any further actions needed. Months later (Aug) I get a letter stating I owe them €1041.00! And if I didn't pay by yesterday there would be legal ramifications. I can't help but feel like they are scamming people! I contacted my insurance company and they said they would handle it but I wanted to warn people that these types of business practices are apparently acceptable to this company. When I spoke to the lady at Sixt I said that a scratch could have occurred while the car was in their lot by someone's luggage or another car door and she said I couldn't prove that.. Hmm well. I don't even know what the "damage" looked like. My insurance company has been unable to get copies of the rental agreement from Sixt, it's been two weeks now since I filed a claim. Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience. I won't be renting from them ever again!
