Sixt Rent-A-Car in Langen was an awful experience. Visiting from America, my boyfriend and I rented a car for 5 days. I provided a credit card and was immediately charged DOUBLE the cost without being warned or informed why. After checking my bank statement, I walked 20 minutes back to the rental location and the man told me very casually that "sometimes cards are charged twice." I expressed my concerns about the $808 charge because I was 100% unaware of how or why the double charge would have happened. He did not apologize for not informing me or warning me. He said that the charge would be removed once the car was returned and it wouldn't be a problem.
After the car was returned, the charge was removed. I waited 2 days for the $404 charge to hit my account. Sixt charged my account $495 instead. Since I am now back in New York and am conveniently unable to contact the place myself, my boyfriend's parents walked to Sixt to see what was going on. The man told them that he charged us for 2 drivers, after we explicitly told him multiple times that only 1 of us would be driving. He also charged us for 6 days instead of 5. After a discussion, he decided he would refund us 5 euro for the charge of the 6th day. He said that was sure that he told us we would be paying for 2 drivers, which, in fact, never happened. I informed the man multiple times that only 1 of us would be driving, as we also stated when we registered for the car online.
Sixt in Langen is absolutely terrible. I find it disheartening that these extra unexpected charges were made on my card and that the worker was dishonest about the situation. The car was unwashed and dirty when he gave it to us. I will never rent from this company again. The only positive thing about my experience was that the car ran smoothly.
