EVERY time, 5 out of 5, I had to call the store because after 2-3 hours the order was still being "processed". EVERY time I ended up calling the store to ask about my order only to be told they don't have the item in stock. Bottom Line: Advanced Auto Parts does NOT have a real-time inventory system and they intentionally say they have a product in the store when they really have NO clue. NONE. Before you ever buy online it is best to call a store and ask them to confirm it is in stock otherwise you will waste hours and hours of your day and come away empty handed and then have to deal with refund BS. Their site and inventory system is not reliable.

So, I'm looking for a place that's got things in stock, and a place that can find me the right replacement part for whatever kind of car I'm driving, no matter how old it is. Fortunately, Advance has always delivered. It's clean, well lit, and well organized for the part of the store where customers can browse. And the area behind the counter with the specialty items retrieved by the counter staff always seems to have what I need. As an added bonus, they somehow manage to keep the parking lot clean, despite what I assume is an ongoing group of amateur mechanics leaving their used parts and packaging behind.

I originally called the shop where I bought my aftermarket LEDs about 10 years ago, but they quoted me $300 to replace them. That felt pretty steep, especially since a big chunk of that was just labor. From the research I'd done, I knew the technology had come a long way and that swapping them out shouldn't be much more complicated than changing a standard bulb these days. Luckily, I stopped by the AutoZone on 82nd in Happy Valley. Bryon, the Parts Manager, was awesome. He walked me through my options and even assured me I'd get the same or better performance than my old LEDs. What I really appreciated was that he insisted on installing them for me right there. It turns out Bryon used to be a Service Advisor at Oregon City Subaru, so he definitely knew his way around my Impreza. While I probably could have figured it out eventually, Bryon saved me a ton of time and hassle by handling the install himself. If you're in the area and need someone who knows their stuff, definitely go see Bryon.

Hybrid's have a battery in the trunk, but almost intentional to make DIY extra tough getting the bracket off in a tiny, dark space. Will try myself to put the second bolt in later. I would have not been able to get the difficult bolt out without returning home 4 miles away had he not been there and it was obviously new to him as well. But, they do install when others won't and most other installs are probably a breeze. Also, this is a bigger store with more inventory and more workers.

After getting my oil changed at Mac's Automotive & Radiator Repair my car died in Southern Oregon…read moreon I-5 about 200 miles south of Portland. I got it towed to the closest auto shop, which was a Ford dealership in Roseburg. They popped the hood, the radiator and coolant caps weren't screwed on, there was radiator and coolant fluid all over the place. They ran diagnostics, one of the engine pistons had 0 pressure, so they put a scope down inside and saw a hole in the engine. So, I had to pay $7,500 for a new engine, all because the guys at Mac's didn't screw on the radiator and coolant caps after they did the 30-point inspection as part of the oil change a week prior. The guys at the Ford dealership were arguing with Patrick on the phone (the manager at Mac's) on my behalf, but of course he denied any wrongdoing or responsibility, even though the difference in mileage on the oil change paperwork and the Ford dealership paperwork is the exact distance between Portland and Roseburg. I don't even know how to pop my hood, let alone where the radiator and coolant caps are lol. So, how else does the engine on a Kia Soul with only 25,000 miles suddenly DIE?!?! Patrick even went so far as insulting the intelligence and aptitude of the mechanics at the Ford dealership as a means of trying to sidestep any blame. And Mac's has continued to give me the runaround regarding this issue and have made no attempts to "make things right." Patrick and the owners of Mac's Automotive & Radiator Repair are the reason why people don't trust folks in the auto repair industry.

I wanted to look at a couple other minor repairs and frankly, to shop potential mods for my truck (something that didn't happen as the staff were so horrible). So I walked in with some expectations: 1. To be greeted in a friendly manner 2. To feel that my business mattered (I value the money I earn I had hoped a sales person would also value the money I am willing to spend). 3. To see a variety of products (these people do have several products but they aren't marked or priced well and with no serious sales staff it's very hard to navigate). 4. To have knowledgeable staff as this is purported to be a LEER dealer. 5. I also hoped they would have parts but this is not always realistic with canopies. What did I get? Well, none of what I had hoped for. and I mean NONE. They wanted to charge me to even talk about the issue with the canopy. $60 bucks. When a tech walked over the "sales" person told them "don't even look at it" when the tech said "well, I walked all the way over here , you don't want me to even look at it?" the sales person said a definitive "NO!". but let me set the stage mid day, empty parking lot, empty bays, empty store, multiple staff milling around and me, the only walk in. What could they have done? They could have said, Hello welcome in, how can we help you? They could have said to the tech, yes we aren't busy go ahead and take a peek. They could have said, besides the issue with the canopy is they anything else you'd like to see on your truck? In short they could have simply treated me like a person willing to spend money in their business. So of course I do a couple things I can do, I DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE!, I contact LEER and question their choice to have this be their listed dealer, and I write a few reviews to save other the trouble. Notable that I most often write reviews when I am not happy about a business because to me, I dont want anything crazy. I just want reasonable service when I'm willing to spend a lot of money. I noticed they have other negative reviews and frankly they ring true. This place kinda Sucks! So please take note and AVOID this place, it's really not worth your time. Instead go to LEER TRUCK ACCESSORIES in Oregon City. Good businesses are notable by the amount of people in the store, the experience they offer, and the walk away feeling which is something these people fail at.
