Kids had a blast! Unfortunately it stormed at the end of our visit so we didn't get to the water park. The options for kids (2-5yr old) is pretty vast! Everyone was able to ride their first roller coaster and dance with fun characters at a dance party! The characters were also seen again throughout the park and my kids absolutely loved seeing them! The story town aspect was so so fun! We were busy all day and the rain stopped us but if it held off we easily could have stayed until closing! Food as expected was expensive BUT we enjoyed the fried chicken and seasoned French fries. Everyone was able to eat to contentment. We absolutely will be back! Critique: on the train ride we rode by a broken elephant and the overgrown bridge etc. Some paint and repair on the story town and figures along the train ride and in the water by the mill would go a long way! read more

Very disappointed with the "Priority Paid Parking." We paid extra because my daughter has mobility limitations, yet we were parked over a bridge, across a street, and several lots away from the entrance. There was nothing priority about it. We requested a refund, were directed to one email and then another, and after quite some time still have no response. So, upon entering through security check I was told to have my mini backpack scanned in the machine, okay- no problem. The woman in front of me, that walked through the metal detector and had a huge purse on her- was told she was okay. I asked both of the male security guards (I'm not sure of their names but this was roughly around 4:27PM today on 7/21) I asked "aren't you going to have her bag checked?" The one with the mustache responded "no" and gave me a smile. The other one was laughing and making eyes at the woman. So....I feel I was targeted because I am a gay man with a bag and a woman was able to just go in without her bag being scanned in the machine. PLEASE explain to me how this is deemed fair. I call upon the Chief of Security AND the highest authority of Great Escape to investigate those 2 "officers" and have them replaced immediately. By the way my bag was clear... For those that will be the new management at Great Escape, Enchanted Parks- you guys need to get new security. Most of the rides were really good. The orange and blue one was boring and unsafe. Every time the ride moved everyone hit their heads on the handlebars and my 10 year old brother now has to go to urgent care after hitting his head five times of the ride to see if he has a concussion. Horrible day at the park. We stayed at the Lodge (which was very good!) and were told it was 5-min walk to the park. I have bad knees but can get around pretty good and knew there'd be a lot of walking inside the park once we got there. We had to walk through the parking lot and over a bridge over the highway (graded for wheelchair access). It was a very hot day--not the park's fault. Well, we (me and my 13-yr old granddaughter) were primarily interested in the waterpark which is in the very farthest part of the park. They don't have any park maps to hand out and the larger maps along the way are very confusing and routes are very circuitous. Asking park staff for directions rarely worked.....half or more didn't know anything about where things were!! We had to make several detours to get where we wanted to be. Be aware that, although some of the walkways are shady, there is a lot of elevation changes up and down hills....a lot for my bad knees! We finally got to the water park & headed right to the wave pool, exhausted and thirsty. We tried to buy bottled water but they didn't take any cash, which is all I had with me. They said it was posted on the entrance sign but I didn't see it. BE AWARE of this if you go. I was finally able to figure out how to use the credit card in my Apple wallet with some help from the staff. I reserved a "Bimini" 2-person cabana so we could get out of the sun. What a joke! Yes, it did look like the picture, but it faced south and the only shade we had was from about 3/4 of the way back on the flat part and the upright. It was only a bit better than nothing. We ended up skipping the rides as we were exhausted. According to our phones, we walked *1.7 miles* from the hotel to the wave pool in the water park and back and didn't really "do" the park except the wave pool which was very nice. Only stayed about an hour and headed back to the indoor water park at the hotel. Know before you go! I did a lot of research before the trip and never saw the note about it being cashless, although a lot of places are these days. I did see that you could bring one unopened bottle of water in but I was already hauling a full beach bag and didn't want to carry the extra weight figuring we could buy drinks once we go into the park. read more

We just visited and were very disappointed. There were no shows, and several rides were not operating, including the log ride. We also rode the train, but many of the fake animals along the route were in very poor condition and looked like they hadn't been maintained in a long time. Overall, the park felt neglected and wasn't the experience we were expecting. I went there as a child (Story Town, USA), and brought my children there, and now my grandchildren. I hope this change of ownership will bring it back to what made it special. People are willing to pay for an experience that creates a wonderful memory. read more

Not the best experience for the kids here. Firstly, just walking up you can tell the place hasn't aged well as the paint is faded on everything from the buildings to the rides. Walking up to the window to buy tickets, they said it was $70 per person when we thought it was $40 when looking online. So, we had to walk 10 feet to the side and fire up the iPhone to get tickets for $30 less. Isn't that strange? Why not just give us the discounted price right at the window? Additionally, through the app they don't post which rides are open or closed the day you're purchasing the tickets. But, they had a tiny little sign off to the side of the main security entrance that listed the 7 or 8 rides that were closed that we didn't know about until the kids got fed up and wanted to leave after 90 minutes in the park. The fact that they don't go out of their way to let you know that they're taking your $150 for the amount of rides being closed is very shady. They didn't even apologize as we were leaving and complained. If you're thinking of going to this park, I'd suggest to spend your money elsewhere, or just keep it in your kids college savings account. read more

We are an amusement park family, rotating annual passes or choosing to go to the bigger parks of Florida on a particular year. In 2024, we were on a Six Flags kick and hit up as many on the east coast as we could. One last stop was to Great Escape, another of the parks within driving distance of the Boston area. Our trips to these parks farther away usually end up being multiple days, so on this visit we did a Sat/Sun visit during spooky season. As you drive along I-87, you spot SFGE off to the right. What greets you though isn't the best looking park in the world because you've got to see front and center, one of the ugliest Arrow coasters known to man. This thing has seen better days, the best thing this place could do is tear it down and put something in that spot that has a wow factor. Like yesterday, just do it. Our GPS took us right up to the park when it was typed in, whoops. Totally our fault, but we had to turn around in a hotel right next door to the park to actually go to the lot entrance, which is on the other side of the road (the sign isn't super big and you get no warning as to when it's coming). Parking in Lot #2 wasn't paved, so it was really difficult for our two kid stroller to navigate, I can't imagine how someone with a wheelchair gets around in there. Pave this next time, please. I continue to mention the two day stay, because one wasn't really pleasant at all while the other was a dream. And yes, when I say that I mean the size of the crowd. Too many unchaperoned teens running around on Saturday not really caring who they might run into or what they were saying around small kids. Sunday was nothing like that and most rides were a walk-on. The park itself is relatively clean, especially compared to its Six peers. It's probably that time of year, but why must you close down what amounts to big portion of the front of the park? I counted 6-7 rides closed the first day, including some kid rides that they were disappointed they wouldn't be getting on. They are trying to compete by adding the likes of Bobcat, the new and possibly the best entry from The Gravity Group. Find something with a small footprint like Bobcat to again, welcome people to the park, not one that your grandparents enjoyed in the 80's. That thing looks far from being any kind of "demon". The carry over items from when it was Storytown are a lot of fun, even if some of them look a bit dated. I'm just glad they decided to keep this decor, from the castle now flowing with rivers of blood for Halloween to the tiny storefronts all kids up to the age of 7 will enjoy. You can also see some of the items from the olden days on the train ride around the park. We got a meal deal for the day, where you can purchase a meal or snack every 90 minutes. As long as you get there early, this is super worth it. But what we didn't plan on was waiting in line 25 minutes to get dinner so this can hurt the timing of it all and you might miss out on a last snack at the end of your day. The nachos were stellar, the pizza I give a 4.2 on the Portnoy scale, and the chicken tenders were you know, tenders. It's amusement park food but at least none of it made us sick to go on rides. The next day we had a treat of fried dough which was super fresh and soft. Staff was hit or miss, 90% of them like most places, were helpful and nice...even if they can be tough to find beyond those working rides at times if you have questions. We ran into a few that could have been having a bad day, it can't be an easy job trying to watch out for the safety of teenage idiots all day. It's not the best Six Flags, refurbishments suck when you hope they wait until after October ends and its all closed until the spring. Some of it still needs an upgrade but overall, we enjoyed ourselves. There is still work to be done and I hope SF and the new corporate structure will continue giving this park the time and money it deserves for what is a pretty rural community. But it was still enjoyable enough to get us back some day, as long as things can remain open and staffed. read more

I visited the great escape for fright fest this past fall. Boy, what a great experience. The scare actors were in full force and the moose guy was really great. The rides were fun and thrilling especially the comet, bobcat and outlaw. The park appearance was good but can be improved as well as the food. I would have given the park a 4 star review, however six flags is actively beautifying the park this off season giving some much needed TLC to the flashback and little houses. They are also taking steps to address the food. This refurbishment has me PUMPED!! The amount of love management is putting into the Flashback is a great sign for the park and its future growth. It looks like the park is in fact doing a comprehensive station refurb, which is great to see! The way things look moving forward at TGE is that the park is on a great trajectory to be beautified as stated previously. As long as corporate continues to see potential in this park, I only see these improvements continuing to make a BIG impact when it comes to guest satisfaction and overall park experience. On a side note, I was recently speaking with the director in charge of food and beverage and it seems TGE will be making some investments in this area as well. Way to go TGE. read more

The park is falling into disrepair. Many rides were closed when we visited at the end of July (the height of the season, everything should be working). Some of the rides and decorations are clearly getting the minimal amount of upkeep. Paint is flaking badly on the bottom of the pools and they should've been stripped and repainted long ago. The decorative lights on many of the rides weren't working at all. The layers of dust and grime make the rides look pretty shabby. They're painting the old story town stuff to make it look nice, but I don't think anyone really cares about that. I think the word has gotten out to the rest of the public too. Lines for the rides were short, which helped offset our general disappointment with the place. It was still a fun day with the kids, but we've decided that we're probably not going back again. There are better amusement parks that only require a slightly longer drive. There are tons of better water parks. The prices have gotten so high that this is no longer a good entertainment value. read more

But I guess that had to be because the French toast sticks came out of the freezer and everything else on the plate was cold. The toast served dry. And it is a drop and run service. If I could give it a zero I would.. where to begin.. oh they decided end of the season they would arbitrarily decide this park has a bag restriction of 12x12x16.. they don't have a way to measure your bag but by eye sight they refuse to let you in even if it is a medical bag or disability. So you know your basic backpack or diaper bag isn't allowed.. yet you can bring a stroller and even wagon into the park. Also it depends on who you are because I saw plenty of oversized bags. They make you and your bag go thru metal detection.. your bag goes thru X-ray. A little overkill. My bag that was ok with Disney, universal, darien lake and Busch gardens wasn't allowed. Makes a lot of sense. I had a young child and I personally have medical issues.. but there was zero exemption. Mind you darien has the same exact event and no crazy restrictions. That is also a six flags park. Mind you all the security guards are wearing bullet resistant vests.. while carrying flashlights. Sorry but that is deceptive because if there is a real threat they could only be used as a human shield. Many food areas were closed. The boofest/scare fest was happening this weekend.. if you have kids you may want to reconsider If you are going for actual rides. Park opens at noon. Things like bumper cars and swings closed. Kid section was closed at 5.. don't worry though because they only had two rides in operation.. and they closed often when the staff person had to give another person a break. So rides like the old cars had three employees and many rides closed due to lack of staff. The scavenger hunt was a joke because I am not dragging my kid thru a park with most of the open rides for older kids. Big props to management.. you hid so nicely the whole time we were there this weekend. Why ever would you step up to help staff like I have seen at other parks like darien. dare I say darien was a five star in comparison to this experience. Also I do give props to them making sure almost all those games were open for people to play.. not the food and rides.. but definitely man those games. Big sign on the way in and thru the park.. no full masks.. yet a customer on rides with a monster mask.. wasn't once confronted by your security then again they were busy bouncing out customers from oversized bags without a way to measure them. You know charging full price was a scam when you know darn well you are only giving about 1/3-1/4 the experience. I have been coming to this theme park before it was six flags, about 40 years and have seen how fast it has gone down hill.. this was a definite won't ever return again situation. read more

The season pass during special offers is only $39.99 and the kids are occupied for a whole day as long as you have time to spend with them. Great Escape my last Six Flags Park now I have visited every one of them in the United States! Coming here was a long time in the making as it's more or less a Great Escape coming here being as far north as it is. The time I spent here was awesome as I had fun and enjoyed the park in all its surroundings something I thought was cool is how their Hurricane Harbor is all spread out through the back portion of the park and you have to walk through it to get to The Comet which was by far my favorite of the coasters here as it was just an awesome ride from start to finish. My only real complaint would be their food selection here as it's definitely below standards when it comes to other Six Flags Parks like they don't have a lot of choices and the ones they do have aren't anything special. They have a good amount of flat rides as well as a few older Arrow Development coasters that make up the majority of the park but this is definitely on the smaller side when it comes to a Six Flags park so for what it was is what I'm basing this off of. Overall a cool park in a very pretty place I do hope to get here again at some point as you can't ever have enough Six Flags Days! read more

What a great day and reasonable price for a 10yr old and his Yaya. I haven't been to the Great Escape in over 15 years, it is a little dated now but a great park for preteens.... Two full day passes (purchased online) $35 each, $20 for a souvenir cup and free refills, $20 for parking. Total $128 You can not bring in any food and only one UNOPENED water bottle. We arrived at 10:30 were let into the park right at 11. We went on all of the rides with little to know lines, then around 1 went to the truck to eat our lunch and get our swimming bags. After we reentered we changed and put our items in a locker $16 for the whole day. Spent the afternoon in the water park and ended our day with riding our favorite ride the Adirondack Outlaw a couple for times. Was a great day and price for the two of us!!! read more

This may not be your jam if you are 10yrs or more and are looking for some adrenaline rush. This is mainly a lil kid theme park with the exception of one or 2 thrilling rides. It's an absolute wonderland for young kids. The miniature houses, school, post office. Down the rabbit hole into a giant tea party. It's a fun place to re-live and watch your child hood fairytale come to life with miniature house of red riding hood or the woman who lived in a shoe. Absolutely delightful!! Tip: The best way to enjoy and maximize your six flags visit is to get a season pass (even if you only visit twice) and get entry to almost 5-6 adventure parks in the northeast. If you plan on visiting often it would be wise to add on a meal plan too. Definitely a day well spent with your kids!! read more

Couple that with the over priced parking and outrageously priced food that could barely pass as mediocre, I think that will be our last visit to great escape. This theme park is mainly for kids under the age of 13. The good thing is that it's a short walking distance from the Six flag lodge (connecting bridge) and is included with my stay. On the day of my visit the park wasn't too packed and lines for the rides were short and quick. It is mainly geared towards younger kids, so many of the rides are more mellow (fine by me). The food prices here are outrageous- and it's credit card only. They do allow certain food items for younger kids to be brought into the park. Unfortunately, one of my family member got sick during the middle of the rides so the trip was cut a bit short. Overall, a nice theme park read more

Had a great time. But I'm not really in it for the thrill rides with two young kids. They had a blast and I had a blast with them. They really do a lot to entertain families. They have a kiddie area, Timbertown, that has some legit fun rides, but they also pepper the rest of the park with rides appropriate for families as well. On top of that, they had so much going on for kids entertainment wise. We saw a dance with mother goose characters, there was a mother goose story hour we did, there was a cool bank heist, and we really enjoyed the Timbertown play they did on the big stage. Super cute. * Disappointing Experience at Six Flags Great Escape Indoor Water Park* I decided to plan a Christmas vacation for my kids, and we went to the Great Escape Indoor Waterpark. The park is located near Lake George, and I think that is its saving grace and why it is open in general. The cost for 2 days in a three-queen suite was about $710. The cost of a cabana was approximately $180, and the expenses continued to accumulatetwowhich, I think, accumulate, which is what I expected since these types of places are money grabs. CONS: -The room walls, and more so the ceiling, are fast-built paper thin. We were on the third floor (RM 345), and I assume the room suites above are larger. A family above us allowed their kids to run back and forth and jump off furniture from 5:30 AM until we left the room to the waterpark for some of our time, but the exorbitant amount of noise continued until the kids went to bed around 10 PM. The quiet hours are not enforced. When my partner asked to speak to the manager, they refused to come out of their office for a conversation. We were hoping to be moved, because this situation is negatively impacting our sleep and the enjoyment of the park on Christmas Eve. **This was highly upsetting since I have worked and trained in customer service for many years, and WHAT POOR MANAGEMENT.** I suggest that the President, Rebecca Wood, address this ongoing issue. This is what she gets paid the big bucks for. I would say this boils down to poor management. It could've easily been them coming out of the office and having the customer (us) feel heard, empathizing with our situation, and offering a sincere apology regardless of fault. And figuring out if there was a way to accommodate us within reason. This situation (With the people above) isn't the Park's fault, but it is their fault for not correcting this dilemma since it was clearly not considered when they updated the "resort." The kicker is that they have the option of 'Mail Us a Letter.' Please address all written inquiries to The Great Escape Rebecca Wood, Resort President, 1172 State Route 9, Queensbury, NY 12804. Okay, moving on. -The shower has low pressure, and when the people above you take a shower, you will hear a high-pitched ringing that will continue until all of the showers are off (including in your own room). -Amenities: There are SMALL cheap bar soaps to wash your hands in the bathrooms. The beds are decent but could be better. Typically, where I stay, there are 4 pillows on a bed, and this room had 2 per bed and worn-down comforters. Atlas, the waterpark, is on the smaller end. I think it is important to note that this is better for kids under 12. It's winter, and it is colder in the water park. On the website, they're clear about the water temperature being 70 and, I believe, 82 for the entire place, but with frigid temperatures outside, the temperatures should be raised, and one side of the park is notably colder than the entrance side. I could keep going, but I'm sure you get the point. Pros: -The front desk staff were pleasant, not including the management. -We got to our room, which is spacious and clean. -Other amenities in the room include refillable soup, conditioner, and shampoo. ( I appreciate the sustainability of this; maybe they should do this with soap for hand washing) -My kids are easy to please and had fun despite being woken up by the kids above us. -This is a great place to visit for a day, but considering the room rates, it is not worth the cost to stay, and potentially be extremely unhappy with the overhead noises. **Save yourself from this money pit and go to Kalahari. The rides where always the center ship of my childhood I totally recommend the Steamin Demon and the food was great such nice staff.

Pretty weird amusement park I grew up going to. Six Flags acquired then years ago for reasons I don't quite understand. Originally it was a simple, but enjoyable family fun park. Six Flags brought a more corporate vibe that killed the mom and pop vibe of the place (including carding 50 year old, balding men, and policing what guests were wearing, including the word 'hell' on a t shirt). Suffice to say my last visit wasn't awesome. Ride selection is pretty limited and hasn't improved much. The Comet is a good old wooden coaster but doesn't quite stand out against similar rides in the Northeast (ie: Hersheypark). Steamin Demon is just ok, Alpine Bobsled I found to be boring, and the rest are mostly forgettable. The main improvement to the park was the addition of Hurricane Harbor, which is another ticket. Honestly you're better off driving to PA or flying elsewhere if you want a good amusement park. Otherwise it's only worth it if you have small kids and are already at Lake George. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with this park. I'll start with the good. I love that it's not a huge place - so that we can get through the whole park in a day. I love that you can lay in the lazy river for hours. There are waterslides for the cautious and the adventurous. I love that it has fast rides for my thrill seeker yet nearby slow rides for my more hesitant rider. If you time your visit right you can sometimes get short lines -which is amazing. I also live nearby, so I can decide to go that morning and just drive up for a few hours. But - there seems to be a serious lack of training amongst the workers. Half way through the season and workers are struggling to know how to ring up your lunch order. If only management would take more time to train these employees and help them do their jobs. Things would run a lot smoother. Also, the rides are sporadically closed. You never know if you will get to ride your favorite ride or not. Even while you are in it - the ride might get shut down. Seriously. Should I even mention the prices? Tickets, parking, FOOD!!! I have a seasons pass with parking so that I don't have to think about the price gouging going on. I know that tickets and food are always expensive at amusement parks so it really isn't an issue solely for this park. If you have reasonable expectations you will have fun here. It's a mid-sized park with some quirks. If you want a massive park with tons of rides then you will be disappointed. read more

I haven't been here since I was a preteen, but me and my girlfriend are staying in lake George for the week and wanted to check it out and have some fun. Very disappointing day, seemed like every ride we wanted to get on had a sign saying it was temporarily out of commission.
