Obnoxious and Unaccommodating. I'm a local for 30 years in the South Bay. I usually get my hair cut at Joseph Martin or Christophe in Beverly Hills. It so happens today, I'm just not in the mood to drive up town. It's already 2 o'clock in the afternoon. So, I got on line and search for local hair salon. I came up on this place and something about it appealed to me. At the time, I saw there were about 5-6 stylists on their website, so maybe 1 is in between appointments that would squeeze me in, It could happen. So I got to the Salon and it felt very unwelcoming. No greetings, nothing as I stood there. First of all, there were only 2 customers in there, and it looks like 2 stylists and one was the owner. He finally looked at me and asked what I need. I said I need a haircut, and there was a big pause and then he went to say he's booked. That's ok, but then the reluctance in offering any kind of service or remedy was so apparent. By the way, where are the rest of the stylists? hmmm. I stood there, unmoved, and he went on to say it will be a while. I'm thinking maybe later today or? but nothing came forth. So I had to ask, A while meaning later today or what are we looking at? he said he's booked for 6 weeks out, without offering to schedule me for another visit, maybe even with another stylist. He just simply turned me away. That's a first. Even if you go to the most posh hair salons in Beverly Hills, no one is ever booked out 6 weeks, especially looking around at this hole in the wall, not likely. Seems more like there's a stench of discrimination. He then suggest I should go upstairs to another salon and see if there's any availability. No thanks, I didn't ask. I would never again give it a second thought. read more

I am not from California I am a Flight attendant and here on a layover so was really just here for a day and I emailed this salon about a week in advance to see if they could fit me in! They answered back right away and got me in their schedule! I wanted a balayage and to make my hair have a lot more blonde to it. I just moved to CA in October. I've been going to the same hair stylist since 2004, so finding a new stylist was scary! The salon itself is adorable. It has a rustic feel to it. Nice decor. My pick is Danielle. Only knowing her a few months, I find her to be an amazing chemist at mixing color - hands down, great partial weave on my first visit! Favorite part is Danielle's scalp massage during shampoo. She also listens to what I want which is so important for me. I trust her to also try things. I came in today and decided I was ready for short hair. After having hair below my waist line for 4 years, Danielle did not flinch when I told her. She has an amazing personality and has the experience to make your hair appointment exactly what you want. I am super happy with the rates for color and cut. I was so excited to finally get my hair done after 8 long months due to COVID. After reading all the wonderful reviews about 6th degrees, I felt confident I had found the perfect place to do my hair, that I booked an apt with Joel 3weeks in advance. Upon arrival finding parking was a problem. The greeting went from hi to making me feel uneasy when he asked what I was having done, It seemed to me like he was pressured for time and mentioned that he wasn't sure he was going to be able to honor my request, he rudely mentioned it was going to cost me $320.00. ( $120 for the haircut; $65 for base color; $80 for the highlights and $55 for the blow dry.) I even showed him several pics. After being there 4hours I was not offered any water but received unwanted water down my back during my rinse. I CLEARLY let him know that I wanted my highlights and lowlights a honey blonde color especially in the front framing of my face along with creating dimension throughout my hair blending together to make it look all natural, instead it came out nowhere near what I wanted, in fact it looked almost the same except for a shade darker and ashy with no shine gloss or bounce to my hair! The haircut was even worse, I wanted a new look that was noticeable due to my birthday coming up in a week and especially for the amount I was being charged for my hair!!! I held in my tears until I got home and told myself I should have not let them convince me that this was the best that they could do for me, knowing that I was not happy with my hair... Sam may have good photos of his work (once you find them since his Insta link on the salon site features just him and his friends, not his work - odd), but his lack of professionalism when [not] dealing with clients reflects poorly on both himself and the salon in general. I had called him many months ago after getting his number from reception. I left messages twice. Crickets. I decided recently I'd try again after not getting the hair I wanted elsewhere. Also crickets! Talent doesn't excuse rudeness... And since I'm not the only person here on Yelp having this experience with him, I hope management addresses this with him as it reflects poorly on the salon. I have been going to Joel since 2012, and I won't let anyone else touch my hair. I used to live in New York, and I would wait (up to 6 months) to get my hair done by him. I had my hair done a few times while living in New York, and it really made me realize how truly amazing he is as a colorist, and how healthy he is able to keep my hair as a blonde. No one else is able to give me the natural highlights like he does, and I always love the cut he gives me. I wouldn't be able to have my hair as long as it is if it wasn't for him. He is also the only hair stylist that I've been to that does my highlights in a way that the growth isn't noticeable, and during covid I was able to go a long time without worrying about my roots. I am so happy that I found someone who can give me my dream hair, and keep it that way for years!! Cannot recommend this salon enough! Upstairs over an architect's office, Joel and Frita run a nice and comfortable place to get your hair cut and hang out. At first hard to find, as its just a red door with a '6' on the front (since changed to the 939 address) address), it opens up once upstairs. I'm a dude and used to get my hair cut from a bunch of different stylist around MB, but settled with Joel because he keeps it stylin' and looking good. Now I get my hair cut here every 5-6 weeks or so (unless Joel is out of town)... if I'm looking straggly, it was because I forgot to set up my appointment! read more

Let me start of by saying that I am a guy and I hate getting my hair cut. I think it is uncomfortable and it feels like a chore to do. But, ever since I started seeing Danielle at salon six degrees, getting my hair cut has been a pleasure. She really listens to me when I say how I want it to look and knows, more than I do, how to make it look the way I see it in my head. Also, if it wasn't wired, I would just go and have her shampoo my hair everyday. She massages your head and helps me to feel completely relaxed and comfortable. It's amazing! She is also able to cut and thin out my hair in a way that makes it look better longer, somehow. Marcela took the time to find out exactly what I wanted and then she delivered. I wanted to lighten up my hair but I was a little worried that it would turn out orange. Marcela assured me that it would be subtle and just enough blonde. She did babylights and I love them. I can't wait to go back for more. First off let's just say how freaking awesome Natalie is! She has been doing my hair for over a year now and it has been my best Beauty transition. Before I met her I was going from stylist to stylist. Natalie always colors my hair to perfection making it look thicker and healthier and has helped my hair grow tremendously over the last year. They may be good with adult hair but don't take your kids there. First time, my daughter didn't get the cut we asked for. Instead she got bangs which my wife and I thought looked terrible. By the time she noticed what they were doing it was too late. We went back asking for a different stylist. Sang cut my sons hair. Which was shoulder length. We asked for a trim to keep it healthy but he kept cutting. My wife expressed her concern it was getting too short three times only to be told that it was best for his face. Well, it was too short. I recently attended a local fundraiser and one of the silent auction items was a color service by Shawna and a haircut by Danielle. As I hadn't been happy with the color that my present hairstylist had given me the last 2 times, I bid on the item and won. My hair was a mess. I hadn't had a professional color and haircut in about 6 months. I lost track how many colors my hair was. It was badly in need of some attention. I wanted my hair to be the auburn that it was when I was younger. Red is hard to do as it can come out brassy or fake looking. Shawna mixed the perfect shade. She even told me how to maintain my hair between visits. I really appreciated her advice. You don't often get professionals that help you save money when it means that they may earn less. After the color, came the haircut with Danielle. She made sure that my hair was cut evenly and that the bangs were just right. My hair is thick and she took the time needed to make sure that it was fully dry. She also made suggestions on the products to use to get the salon look without pushing for me to buy them at the salon. Both Shawna and Danielle were just great. I've been to many of the best salons in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica,West Hollywood, have had all sorts of facials, and microderm and the likes. I usually leave satisfied but not sure if I'd go back.
