DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IF YOU HAVE A PUPPY! We left clear instructions that our 9 week old puppy wasn't fully unvaccinated yet and could not be walked outside. We also said to either take off or disinfect your shoes before walking in. Parvo is a deadly virus that can be tracked on shoes and can kill puppies under 4 months since their vaccinations aren't complete until then. Sitter4Paw's pet sitter, Serdar V, walked in with his shoes without disinfecting, and took our puppy outside for a walk! Since we have cameras recording all of this, we had to call him to bring back the puppy. To top it off, Serdar left our balcony door wide open. We had to call him yet again to come back and close it. Which he then proceeded to walk into the house with his shoes on. I will never be using this service again, and if you care about your puppy you shouldn't either. read more

I'm so happy I found Sitter4Paws!! I have two bunnies and there aren't many options for boarding care when I'm away on vacation or business. What's great is that my bunnies can be in the comfort of their home! My husband wrote very detailed instructions on how to care for them and it was followed almost exactly -- one very minor thing was overlooked but Sitter4paws made note that this needs to be done on the next visit. They did all the major things which was great! They email you photos of everything once they finish the visit. The sitter was able to get such cute photos of my buns which was a surprise as they are skittish and tend to hide around strangers. We set up a lockbox for our building, S4P added in ALL the pertinent details about our kitty, it was impressive. I'm so glad that I found this company. My senior cat has kidney issues and is on a special diet of raw food which is stored in my fridge. I find this is non-conventional compared to other kitties who might receive dry food, which is easier for sitters to put out. The sitter took great care of BOTH of my cats and sent me photos everyday -- typically my female cat is a bit shy but she came out for the photos and seemed to warm up to the sitters. I had a good experience with Sitters4Paws, overall. Sitters for each day sent an update with photos of my cat, her eating, playing, and a clean litter box. My only complaint may be that the day I returned, it seems the last sitter left the bag of litter on my desk instead of disposing in the trash, and also it looked like my cat had gotten into the bag of treats (I had intentionally had the treats and dry food in a labeled drawer where she couldn't get into them, and also left a note about how she tends to tear things up if left out; maybe I should have been clearer but I figured sitters would just return things to wherever they found them). She ate all the treats, and clearly someone put the torn up empty bag back in the drawer. Would have been nice to just have been alerted that happened rather than discovering it. read more

I waited more than 6 months to write this, as I wanted my review to be as measured as possible. I don't want to be one of those ranty yelp people that leaves nasty reviews because a service wasn't up to their impossibly high standards. You know the type. However, the mistake on the part of one of Sitter4Paws sitters really caused some damage, both to my cat's health, and to my bank account, so I felt like I needed to share my experience. The short version is that one of my cats didn't get a daily medication he needed, which directly led to a painful vet visit, a vet bill of over $200, a missed half day off of work to go to the vet. When I emailed the owner/manager about this, there was no offer for any refunded visits or help with my vet bill. Here's the long version: One of my cats needs to take a powdered laxative in his food daily, or else he experiences severe constipation due to colon problems. He is a total pig, so eating wet food with some laxative in it is not a problem for him. All the sitter needs to do is put it in front of him, and he will gobble it right up. Easy peasy. We have had many sitters/friends do this for us off and on for the past 5 years with no problems. Here's the twist: 2 of my 3 cats are all-black, including the one that needs the meds. For a new sitter, I anticipated that it might be confusing to know which cat to give the meds to. So I dealt with this by: *Explaining the situation to the manager that came over for the initial meet and greet, and pointed out which cat needed the meds, so he could note this for the sitter. *Leaving a PICTURE of both cats, labeled, as the cat that needed the meds had a collar and the other cat didn't. *Left a written description of both cats, as a double check for the picture, including personality traits to make it super obvious. For example, one cat meows constantly, and the other never meows, etc. I was assured by the manager at my consultation that giving the meds to the right cat would not be a problem, given all the information I had given him, etc. He also mentioned that he could easily tell the cats apart "as they didn't really look alike, and one had a collar". However, there was at least one sitter that couldn't tell them apart, and didn't give him the medication (this was acknowledged by the sitter). We got home from our trip and our poor cat was in agony, as he wasn't going to the bathroom, and he was throwing up all over the place (a sign of constipation). In spite of this much-less-than-desirable situation, I understand that no service is perfect 100% of the time. If Kelly with had offered to refund at least one day of the service and assisted with the vet bill, I would have felt better about the situation, as it would have indicated that she realized that they didn't perform their best service. Although she was polite, and expressed concern for the situation, there was no offer for any assistance, even though she acknowledged that it was the sitter's fault. The bottom line is that if you have easy cats, and if you trust people to come into your house that you have never met, this service is probably fine. Otherwise, I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

The service is good overall but unfortunately, I experienced some issues. - I thought there would be one main sitter plus a back-up - there were three different sitters on my property over the course of 4 and a half days. - The closet door where my very shy cat hides out was closed when I returned home, despite his hide-out place being recorded in the summary notes I was emailed after they visited my house. I very clearly explained to the person who came to take notes that my cat hated strangers and even showed him the closet in the bedroom. It took over an hour to find my cat when I returned home, thanks to his hiding place being closed off. His food wasn't left where it was supposed to be either, so I'm not sure the other cat didn't get to it first. I liked that they arranged a time to come over to set up a lock box for my key, that they took detailed notes as I gave them instructions and that they emailed me updates with pictures. However, what I didn't love was that no one mentioned the 'appointment summary' emailed after their visit with 'notes' would be all the instruction their back-up sitter (or, in my case - two back ups!) would receive. It would serve them better to record the instructions provided during the visit in detail, and email those to the client rather than the summarized note format they came in - this would have saved a lot of confusion. I'll probably look for another service that pays a bit more attention to these kinds of important details in future. Update in response to Sitter4Paws: I understood there may be more than one sitter, I specifically asked about that and was told there may be one or two - and I did notice the fine print pointed out "main sitter plus back-up". My point was, there were three people in the house and this was not something I expected. A "main sitter and a backup" are not quite the same thing as 'someone new entering your property on almost a daily basis'. I didn't have any cell phone service during the vacation, we were on a camping trip. I believe I mentioned that to the rep who came to my house, not that it's his fault - but sometimes, answering emails isn't always possible. If, after having provided detailed instructions on how to care for your pets, you are emailed a 'summary' with 'notes', then that's exactly what they are taken for. At no point was it mentioned to me that the notes would be the sole information passed on to anyone else visiting the house, and this is my chief complaint. I sincerely hope this is a learning experience and you both change the wording on your 'appointment summary' in addition to making it very clear to future clients that these are the only notes a back-up sitter - or two - will be provided to care for their animals. And finally, it was clearly stated on the appointment notes that Joey was very timid and would hide out in the bedroom closet when a stranger was in the house - yet the closet door in the bedroom was shut when I returned home and my poor cat was hiding under the covers in my bed. So even when the instructions are clearly printed on the notes you sent me - they weren't taken any notice of. I'm sorry you feel the need to be so combative. I have openly recognized your business as a good service - but on this occasion, there were screw ups. We all make mistakes! I'd have been more inclined to use your services again after a simple acknowledgment and a 'sorry' rather than all the back and forth emails justifying your actions. read more

They totally put my mind at ease, we had a meet and greet first to make sure would be ok staying in their home. When we returned for his stay, Reily was so excited. Peace of mind for our cats when we're gone is worth its weight in gold. They are neurotic little jerks sometimes (but they are our neurotic little jerks). So, we need someone who likes cats and isn't a dog sitter who has decided feeding cats can be an easy way to make a little extra money. Believe it or not, the cats know the difference - and we know the difference when we come home. Sitter4Paws WLA answered that call. Finding a time for the consultation was a little tricky, but after that, everything was incredibly easy. 1. They accept payment online. Since this was our first time using them, we paid upfront. 2. They use a lock box (like real estate agents) for the keys. So, we never actually released our keys to them - they were there for us when we returned home (this is a giant plus - we once had a pet sitter who had our non-reproductable keys for 2 weeks after we came home). 3. They come within a window of time we designated. This is great for neurotic kitty schedules. 4. They send emails after each visit with pictures and details of the visit. How wonderful is that? 5. They clean the litter boxes, food area and take out the trash every time they visit. 6. They have a team of people, so we didn't need to worry about the pet sitter getting sick and not showing up to feed the cats (yes, we've had that happen in the past as well). Justin was assigned to our cats, and he was wonderful! One of our usually shy kitties made an appearance for him both days and even "cautiously played" with him and took a treat from his hand (he sent the picture of her eating out of his hand)!! All in all, Sitter4Paws WLA offers a fantastic service! We cannot recommend them highly enough! read more
