Great service for glasses help and repair! Phil helped me with my glasses and was incredibly kind.

I have a very specialized RX that requires my glasses be just right. I've gone to other places, even San Francisco, and they no one else has gotten my eyeglasses rights except Site in Eureka. Steve and Phil are very knowledgeable and don't try to upsell you anything you do not need, and are very patient helping you pick out glasses, answer your questions, and help you make the right choices for you. In his response to my original post the owner stated I ask them to do something illegal. I didn't. I did ask for a recheck of my vison because I had never been able to read with the prescription your off site examiner prescribed. Your records are inaccurate as I did stop in at approximately 30 and 60 days and was told once by you and the second time by the other gentleman that it takes time to adjust to the new prescription. I then put the glasses in the case you provided and went back to try them a few months later and there was the "cloudy" formations over at least 1/4 of each lense. As the prescription was wrong from the beginning and I shared that at approximately 30 and again at 60 days, I ask for a new exine as the old prescription was wrong. You refused, I then ask for a refund as the prescription was wrong from the get go and redoing an inaccurate prescription would be a waste of time and money for both you and myself. I then asked for a refund which you refused to do. You provide lousy customer service. And you lie. I was in your business at approximately 30 and 60 days and all I got from you and your co-worker was a run around. You refused to provide any kind of customer service on several occasions so yes I was frustrated with your lack of customer service. I never asked for anything illegal, I did ask for a recheck as the prescription was wrong from the get go, when you refused that I did ask for a refund you refused. It borders on slander that you stated I asked you to do something illegal. That is a total lie. read more

I'm visiting in Eureka and my glasses frame snapped in half. I was so fortunate to choose Site for Sore Eyes ... he searched his whole inventory until he found another frame to put my lenses in, I think I was on my way in less than an hour and the charge for the new frames was $50. I came in for an appointment to get my eyes checked and get new glasses. They have decent frames and the lenses they make are nice. The eye exam was with a doctor on a monitor across the room and they have a tech in the room with you. The first time I went in they gave me too high of a prescription and I couldn't see well. One of the guys that worked in front told me to get used to it and that I might get a headache. I couldn't wear the prescription for even a day and it hurt my eyes. They were nice enough to do a re-exam for free and redo my glasses at a lower prescription. It seems to be a little better, but I'm still going to get another opinion. Still doesn't seem 100% to me and the guy in the front explain that if they changed the lenses they wouldn't get 20/20 vision. It's my eyes and I should know if something isn't right. Been wearing glasses for over 20 years. I felt bad about going there and don't think I'm going back. Just wasn't that comfortable and I cried after the first time the lenses didn't work out. It made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about with the lenses feeling like a fish bowel and hard to see out of. Sometimes you may need a little time to get adjusted, but every time I have gotten my glasses done I haven't gone back to redo them. Still happy they did the second exam and lens fix for free. read more

I've been to a few local eye specialist here in humboldt county. I finally decided to go to "Site". I was given an appt. for the following day. On my visit I only had to wait a few minutes. The eye eye specialist was very thorough. Pointed out some issues and informed me they would easily be corrected. I went out to the lobby and selected my frames and I also took the option of free second pair of frames. The total bill was 60 per cent less than I paid several years ago at a competitor( not Costco). I guy who waited on me said, it would be two weeks. It only took a week. The product is great and FYI...humboldt county is now safer with me driving at night. read more

I will start this review by saying that I have only been to a few small town optometrists. Never in Eureka, and so I was kind of anxious about doing so. My glasses recently broke. I had no option but to find a place in Eureka, and I hadn't had an eye exam in seven years so it was time for a new prescription. I opted to go to Site for Sore Eyes because it popped up first in my yelp search. I was a bit shy about coming in to a place when I could not even see. I showed up a little early for my appointment I scheduled online at Site For Sore Eyes. I filled out the appropriate paperwork and even though I was blind and had to put my face just a few inches away from the papers I was filling out the staff was super friendly and nice about it. I was surprised to hear that the eye exam was only $69 because I usually paid twice that when I regularly went in my small town. Despite showing up twenty minutes early and taking fifteen minutes to fill out the paperwork the optometrist called me in a few minutes ahead of schedule. He was very friendly and made mental notes of all the eye problems I told him and referenced them later. The eye test was very relaxing here. At the end he wrote out my new prescription and I was off to choose new frames. The staff was friendly and my friend who accompanied me even made jokes that the staff and I laughed about. It was a super stress free situation. I ended up showing a male member of the staff a picture of the style of frames I wanted and he found a frame very close to it. The prices were reasonable, and the staff went over each option very carefully explaining the advantages and disadvantages. I left knowing that I made the right choices and ended up spending just north of $500 which is pretty good without insurance. When the glasses came in I got a super friendly call notifying me they were in. I picked them up without having to wait in a line. After getting them I noticed they didn't quite fit right and so I brought them in without making an appointment and the staff was super friendly and personable about bending the ear pieces. They went the extra mile to make sure they fit just right, and were friendly even when I told them the adjustments I wanted them to make. Basically... this place is awesome. I've never had a more positive experience when purchasing glasses or even in getting my eyesight examined. I recommend them. read more

In 2018, we moved to Eureka after living in major metro areas with top choices for glasses and doctors. Recently, my eyesight started changing and I looked around for options in the area. I did not expect the high quality of service I found at Site for Sore Eyes. Both Steve and Phil take great care of me and provide the most sincere and highest quality service I have received in over 20 years. In addition, the optometrist, Dr. Peter Disalvo is excellent with his exams and care. It turns out I have a eye condition developing and Dr. Disalvo and the team took extra time to make sure my prescription was accurate and correct. They followed up on every appointment and after everything was complete they made sure I was satisfied and seeing well with my new glasses. By the way, I paid the lowest price for quality frames, lenses with progressive and anti-reflective I have ever paid anywhere in the US. "Where you from?" -Doc "Jersey but I was in SF the last 3 years before coming up to Humboldt" -me "Oh nice, what part of the city" - Doc "The sunset" - me "The sunset? I can't express how awesome these guys are. I was in a real jam and they were able to help me out! I had stepped on my glasses earlier that morning. As if that wasn't bad enough they were on the floor because my dog decided to use them as a chew toy. I need my glasses to see anything, so called around the area and couldn't find anyone that does same day service until I found Site For Sore Eyes. The gentleman that helped me had a beard and was very nice. He helped me pick out a frame that I've already gotten two compliments on and feel great to wear. After picking the final frame we then chose my options for lenses which I thought were very reasonably priced and they were able to get them finished for me in less than three hours!!! I even got a back up pair for free that I'm going back to pick up in a few days. A pair of glasses same day, great service, AND an extra pair of glasses for free? Quick service and friendly doctor. A huge range of frames to choose from. It was my first time getting an eye exam and glasses, and they got me exactly what I needed. I've heard they accept more insurance carriers than anyone else around. The guys in front who help you order lenses were very professional and clear, and let me know all the options. This was my first time coming here. I have been to two other places in town before. This place was the best I have been to. There was no wait, it was a quick appointment and they give you your prescription right there. There was no pressure to buy anything. It was priced cheaper than a lot of other places. I went to a-z in the past and this doctor was much better. He loves doing his job and he chooses to do it. He is an older man who is very nice. I got contacts and I have 3 months to adjust them if I need to. Best eye doctor around! read more

I took in some Versace frames I had just bought specifically so they could put lenses in when they retuned them the frames were really scratched and bent. These are not cheap. He was bending them at the bridge and I was holding my breath I thought they were going to snap! I asked them to keep my original lenses and when I asked him for them he had to dig them out of the trash! read more

Went to update my prescription. What really drew me in over other places was that I could make an appointment on-line, and that went without a hitch. Overall a good place. They really got down to business, the guy working the counter seemed nice enough wasn't really a conversationalist. But as soon as I had my paperwork filled out the doctor came out and met me, no wait time whatsoever. He was nice, and knew what he was doing, which is always a plus. They got me in and out real quick, with a new prescription and new contacts. The whole thing was about 15 mins and $99 bucks, no complaints. read more

I was sorry to see the earlier review with the comment about Asians ( I never mix politics or religion with business for just this reason...). One of their earlier Drs was this fabulous Asian woman. I rarely use Yelp to leave reviews, just for reading them, but the service and care I receive from Steve and the staff at Site for Sore Eyes is worthy of a 5 star review. My wife and I recently got glasses and the patience and friendly service from Steve while trying on every pair of frames you had was amazing. He made great recommendations, made sure that they fit just right, and spent time with us, treating us as we were his only guests (he had a few other customers in the shop at the same time.) Beyond that, my wife's glasses needed an adjustment, she walked in and out in 2 min as Steve was able to adjust them for her. First review ever written on Yelp...I've never been angry enough to write a review. A few things that I did not like about my experience here. I am in the service industry and every time I have walked in (a few times) the man and lady who work there give minimum service. There attitude makes me want to leave. It's nothing outright rude, just subtle. They don't look like they want to be there and I feel it. The glasses themselves are way over priced. All of it is made in China and is worth the same as the cheaper frames I just found at Eye of the Phoenix in Eureka (great service/prices/and selection by the way). It is mediocre here. It is a business period. No warmth, no authenticity, just money transactions. Complete lack of customer service. And I found out they added an extra feature to my last prescription that was completely unnecessary and was a way for them to take more money from me. I'm sorry if this is harsh, but it's the truth. I personally do not like feeling ripped off and I like to find the best value with people that want to help me. read more
