They had the upstairs open due to the perfect spring weather and it was packed! I tried the PB bacon burger with tots this time and i have to say this was one filling meal! Two burger patties atop a thick layer of peanut butter, followed by delicious bacon and white cheddar cheese: What's not to love? Please try the tots next time you're in. I don't know how they do it, but these tots are the most filling I've ever had. It's worth a visit just for those! Next time you're in Elkhorn, make Jukes Ale Works your next stop.

My only thing is that the buffalo wing sauce was good but tasted like maybe it came out of a bottle and not made in the kitchen? I could be wrong. I love their porch area at the top of the restaurant. Though I was taking my order to go I wanted to eat some wings and fries before class and they had no problem with letting me be in the dining room and even brought over some silverware. If you're in the area it's worth a try!

The atmosphere feels like a cool dive bar with lots of different options for seating, but is a smaller space. When we went our server seemed pretty overwhelmed with the crowd, which was understandable as it was busy, but still was attentive to our group. The food was good, but not amazing. Which was felt throughout the group. The favorites of the group were the fried mushrooms and the deep sea crab roll. The gluten free buns were almost too toasted for my liking but still really good flavor on the breading of the fried items. The guacamole had large jalapeños in it which took away from the overall taste of the dip. Overall the food is still a reliable place for me, but only on certain occasions. I'm hoping it was just a moment in time, because I usually have amazing food at Shucks. Overall, a good safe spot to get fried seafood that is good for gluten free people and those that aren't. Still going to be my go to spot for a lobster/crab roll

Most of our group had been to Cheddar's before, and we were all excited to try some new menu items. Overall, the food was a hit. The onion rings came out hot and fresh, the lemon pepper chicken was especially juicy, and the white fish ended up being another favorite at the table. That said, there were a few service missteps that took away from the experience. Two people in our group ordered the white fish blackened, but only one plate came out as requested--the other was pretty bland. When our server eventually checked in (a bit later than expected), we mentioned the mix-up. His response was pretty casual, something along the lines of there just being less spice, and he didn't offer to fix it or have it remade. We ended up just swapping a fillet between the two plates so each person had one blackened and one not. It worked, but it felt like something that should have been handled differently. There were also a few moments where drinks went empty for a while, and our server wasn't around much. At one point, a manager actually stepped in and refilled waters for the table, which we appreciated. Overall, the service felt very laid-back...but to the point where it came across like he didn't care. One bright spot worth mentioning: my salad came out before the meal with a lot more cheese on top than I expected. As I was picking some off onto a side plate, a manager happened to notice and stopped to ask if I'd prefer a new salad without cheese. I explained it wasn't a mistake, just more than I wanted, but I really appreciated the attention and the offer to make it right.

Suffice to say (before reading my long review) it was not on par with the L street location! The staff were definitely new and learning the menu, but that is to be expected any time a new place is freshly opened. Our server, Blake, was nice though and was learning fast. But with a few other servers, there was one thing that did not come about from being a server in a new restaurant. We were eating and could CLEARLY hear the staff around the corner talking loudly and cursing left and right. I am not a prude about language but it's just not something you see every day at a restaurant with families/kids dining. The size of the restaurant seems a little smaller than the L street location, too. That may be a psychosomatic thing when trying a different location of a place you know, but I definitely felt more cramped. The food is on par with the OG spot, so no complaints there. My usual is the bourbon glazed salmon with the cheesy broccoli on the side. So it was just as tasty as the other location, but I think I'll stick to the L street one mostly going forward.

ANYWAY, this location and the one downtown are standalone locations, and as I said, I totally prefer that. I like to have a server, sit down, and ask questions if I have them, etc. This location is always bustling, maybe a little too much, that it almost feels a little frenetic and anxiety inducing. The food is pretty basic bar food - burgers, salads, and a few others like fish and chips, and the like. The service has been good and the drinks are always nice and fresh and cold. That is where they shine, the beers and drinks. So I'd say if you visit any Blatt, definitely choose an in person one, and don't expect too much from the food, if you are not a fan of bar fare.

The same consistency I receive for togo orders is present within the walls of their establishments, as well. A lively bar spot with anything but basic bar food. The menu isn't the deepest but what they do, they do well. I've been a long time fan of the chopped salad - simply because the dill ranch is literally thee best dressing. The chicken tenders are a fan favorite and I will not order the salad without them. It's not the fanciest, or the most original but you will not walk out of here unsatisfied. I would try anything off their menu without hesitation. They have a vast beer menu, a few cocktails to choose - but please add an espresso martini to that menu, folks! The fried ravioli is an interesting texture, with breading around the dough. My friends loved this, but it was a bit chewy for me. The flavor of the marinara sauce was great. The calamari wasn't much thicker cut with very thin bread compared to anything I've tried before. This was a bit too much for me, but again, my friends liked this! The artichoke dip had a strange flavor to me, it was a bit less cheesy than others I've had in the past. The bread we got for the table was the star of the show for me, despite not being a huge red person myself! This was so warm, with large pads and butter, and the flavor and texture was absolutely perfect. I would definitely come back for this alone! The salad I got was all right, although it had a bit too much dressing despite me asking for this on the side. The shrimp was good, the items in the salad were good as well. I was surprised with the low price of this solid, including a protein for around $22! The desserts at the end of our visit were also impressive. The favorite for our table was the carrot cake, with a lemon blueberry, being a very close! The carrot cake was delicious with the rich cream cheese frosting. The lemon blueberry cake had the texture of a muffin, with delicious icing on top. We also got the chocolate cake, but none of us loved this, as it was far too rich without being very sweet. All in all, this will not be a spot I recommend going forward. I had a nonalcoholic Moscow mule, which was not good, I couldn't finish it. I believe they make their own ginger beer, possibly? The flavor was far different than any mule I have had in the past I would come back if this place is suggested, and I would plan to fill up on bread, and probably get a salad with the dressing on the side. Our server did a pretty good job, with us having seven people total. The best part of this place is the ambience of being on the lake!

All the classic dishes like the lavosh, the prime rib enchiladas, the voodoo, chicken, etc. are still on the menu. On the whole, our table enjoyed the meals we got. That said there were a couple little notes I have. I've said it before, but the way they plate salads is impractical here. They serve side salads on small glass plates. Of course I appreciate the effort to make it a nice sized salad and fill up the plate, but with no overhang and no depth because it's not a bowl, it makes it really difficult to stir around without making a big mess. They don't serve the salads tossed, so this continues to be an issue for me as a diner. The other thing I noticed is that the building itself definitely needs a little TLC. Everything just looks a bit worn... in particular the walls, the baseboards, places where there's wear and tear, and it just doesn't look as crisp or as modern or updated as it could.

Our server was incredibly kind and attentive, keeping our drinks refilled and checking in just the right amount. I'll definitely be back!
