Every group class we come away with something new. We receive encouragement and suggestions for how to go forward. There are all types of dogs at different levels - the groups accommodate everyone. Great experience every time. The training is effective and makes us enjoy Abby even more as we learn better ways to communicate. Our fellow neighborhood dog walkers comment about how well mannered and sweet Abby is - they have noticed the changes resulting from Sit Means Sit. Happily - we still have more training to come! Waste of money and I think that Wes is not the Dog Whisperer that he thinks he is! Group lessons do not provide the best instruction, and the space is too small for 20 plus dogs that they cram into their training sessions. It is not conducive to providing a good environment for learning! It is just too crowded and allows bigger and more aggressive dogs (yellow bandana doesn't work, this is dependent on pet owners identifying that their dog has aggressive tendencies) How do you teach behavior modification when you are about 2 feet from another pup who is excited or an overly aggressive dog! We paid over $1,200 for a series of lessons and felt like the training was not individualized at all for our high energy pup. Did not like the concept of using a choke collar or electronic monitoring device to control our pup. Incidentally neither worked! Surely as dog trainers you would think you would be able to provide some better techniques rather than punishment type deterrents?? We gave up and went to a personal trainer Terry and in about four weeks he had demonstrated the techniques and was able to show us how to work with our dog and get the desired behavior. He was less expensive and as a plus he came to our home. Don't waste your time or money at this place. Opt for more professional and experienced training in a proper learning environment! read more

Disappointed - Not What Was Promised The training at Sit Means Sit started off fun and engaging, and we had high hopes. But once the contract period ended, we were told our dog is "reactive" and would need additional (and expensive) training beyond what we already paid for. This was never mentioned when we signed up. In fact, the owner assured us that whatever his own dog could do, ours would eventually be able to do too--and that they wouldn't stop training until we got there. That promise was not kept. Despite signs early on that our dog had some reactivity, they waited until the original program ended to inform us that we'd need to pay more. We feel misled and disappointed, especially after spending a significant amount upfront. Be sure to read the fine print and ask direct questions about what happens if your dog is considered "reactive." Otherwise, you may end up in the same situation--having to pay another trainer to finish the job. read more

Paid through the nose for shi*ty training! "MIKE" in Portland tried to CHARGE me MORE than what was AGREED to in a written Contract! I use my Great Dane as a therapy dog in my classroom. Because he is always with children, he must be well behaved and healthy.
