My girl just wants to be pretty! Shame on Groomingdales!

Called to get my dog an appointment to be groomed and was told that I would not be helped. I was not told why. I was asked my dogs age and the last grooming. she was very rude!! my dog is a 15 she is a beautiful baby she needed grooming and her nails clipped I wasn't told that I could have a future appointment I was just simply told we cannot help you I feel that they discriminated against my because it had been a long while since our last grooming and my dogs age- 15. She hasn't been groomed in a while due to Covid and other life events but she is perfectly healthy and up-to-date on her shots there's no reason why I could not get service -very rude not recommend them at all.

My wife and I were looking for a place to shave our 2 yr old pug. We went to our local groomers. Not only did she have time to shave her she also washed her, dried her, clipped her nails to releive the stress off her paws. She also cleaned her teeth. This lady will let you watch while she educates you on the goods and bads for your certain animal. She can advise you on certain products and let you know the dangers of it. She has got to be hands down the best in Rockport, so if your a local or just visiting give her a try she is very reasonable for everything we had done. Or you can just stop by and say hi to one of the Sweetest birds whose name is PEACHES. She loves a good scratching or you can just talk to her.

I've taken our Pomeranian to Sandy Oaks three times now for grooming. After giving a couple of…read moregroomers a try in the CC area I branched out in my search on here and found Sandy Oaks. They are definitely worth the drive to Rockport. The same groomer has taken care of Fred all three times and has done a fantastic job each time. The business is located outside of Rockport by a few miles. The owners have created a beautiful establishment! You pull in and see that they have gone all out to create a comfortable place for the dogs they care for. It's really so nice! I haven't toured the facility but, from what I've seen, there are large, fenced play areas outside. It is in a wooded area so the entire outdoor area is shaded. As I've only dropped Fred off for grooming, I've only gone so far as the greeting/waiting area. Plenty of attention to detail was put into the decor here. Artwork, books about dogs, even the pillows have dogs on them. It's nice and clean, and each employee that I've encountered has been so friendly and helpful. I can only speak for the prices for Fred's grooming. We do ask for a specific cut for him. For $40 he is bathed, cut, ears are cleaned, and, if asked, his anal glands will be expressed. $40! In addition to the wonderful grooming job, I have felt completely comfortable leaving Fred with them. This says a lot considering my intense (and probably irrational) paranoia concerning Fred. You can tell that they CARE. I am so happy to have found this business and have already suggested them to someone else who has had a hard time finding anyone trustworthy (or worthy of the ridiculous prices they charge) in the CC area.

I wanted to go to Rockport for a fishing weekend (two day trips on the boat, house at night) so I asked around for recommendations for dogsitters. Nothing, so I looked at day care facilities. The reviews for Salty Dog on Google are outstanding - it seems that more Yelpers had negative things to say (perhaps because real names aren't required on Yelp?) so I'm intentionally posting here to provide balance. - TLDR: This place was outstanding! I approve of all their protocols and my anxious dog had a great time to my very pleasant surprise. The prices were so reasonable especially considering the level of care was A+. The owner is a vet tech so there is someone knowledgeable available if something should happen, and there is a vet clinic within walking distance. It probably doesn't get better than this. - Vaccine requirements: Some people seem to take umbrage with this. This isn't personal - the state of Texas requires all dogs be vaccinated for rabies. The other requested vaccines are very common in the professional boarding and daycare industry for health and safety reasons. Some insurance policies covering the business may also include that requirement. If I were to ever come across a facility that did not have these requirements, I'd run. Immediately. - Level of preparation. Salty Dog asks owners to fill out a lengthy application detailing their pet's needs and preferences. I appreciate this investment in my dog's well-being so much. The more someone knows about my dog's preferences and personality, the better his care is going to be. If you can't be bothered to fill it out, what else can you not be bothered to do - train your dog? Keep it healthy? Maybe I don't want mine boarded next to yours if you don't want to put in the effort. - Safety / security: The facility itself is well-structured (architecture background here) and well-maintained. They also have secure access to the animals so only employees can go into the back of the building using a code. Yes, you want to see where your dog is going to be kept but this is not fair to disrupt the dogs already there by having random people wandering in and out. It's also not fair to expect the staff to police visitors and say "please don't reach in to pet someone else's dog". Do you want strangers accessing YOUR dog? Of course you don't. Just ask to see the multiple security camera views on the large screen TV monitor in the lobby area. They'll happily show you where your pup is (going to be). I checked it both times before announcing that I was there to pick up my dog and he looked perfectly content to me. - Exercise: I know my dog got to play as promised for two reasons. First, he's high energy but both nights after dinner, he conked out as he does when he's had a full day. Second, he has a quirk around swimming pools that I intentionally left out of the application questionnaire but the staff described it perfectly when I picked him up. - Comfort level: I did worry about the potential effect on his anxiety. He will come barreling out of the back of the vet's office after 10 minutes with his tail between his legs and then cling to me. I left him at Salty Dog for a full eight hours both days and he came out of the back both times with his tail wagging, proceeded to greet every single person in the lobby and kept going back up to the staffer who brought him out. After we took him back to the house, he was completely relaxed and willing to lie on his bed instead of seeking my lap which he does when he's stressed. HUGE kudos to Salty Dog for achieving this! - Credit card surcharge: People, this is called "transparency" and "pricing options". For those of you who aren't business owners or operators, every credit card company charges a fee for transactions. The vast majority of merchants just add it to the price and give a single quote. Salty Dog is actually doing you a favor by letting you know there's a way to save a few dollars. I'm impressed they maintain this policy in the face of uneducated complaints. - Staff 'attitude'. The staffers I engaged with were perfectly pleasant and supportive. Sure, some were more talkative than others but is it any wonder that people who prefer animals might gravitate to this type of job? The important thing is they WANT to take care of your dog. Just because someone isn't a contender for a Congeniality title is no reason to leave a snide review. I fully recommend Salty Dog for daycare and would have no hesitation trying them for overnight care or grooming. Enjoy your stay!
