    Words of wisdom!

So, my first review of 2024 is a winner! One of the crews kept telling me, you got to eat at Sissy's when you go to Breckenridge. OMG, this place is the true definition of hole in the wall. The outside is NOT pretty, but the parking lot was full. We went inside and grabbed a table. You could tell everyone was local, cause everybody greeted everybody. We gazed at the menu, but both ordered the daily special. With only one cook, it took a while, but boy was it worth it! Every bite was true country style home cooking. The chicken fry meat was fresh, the mashed potatoes just a tad lumpy, with delicious thick cream gravy on both. The cheese covered broccoli was steamed perfectly. We both only managed to eat half, and the rest was to go. But we're not done yet. The chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing was wonderful! AND, the division manager I was with bought my lunch. Score! Thanks boss! Not that you will EVER be in Breckenridge, Texas, but if you are, Sissy's is well worth the stop. That's right Guy, GO!

You can't see the plate under this ginormous pancake. It only is it large but it's thick and cooked throughout.

They say everything in Texas is bigger, well the adage is totally true here at Sissy's. Sissy makes the best and largest pancakes this side of the Mississippi River. If you leave hungry from here, it's your fault. Sissy also makes homemade biscuits that will leave you asking for more. This is down right good ole country fixin's, just like mama made.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that change your mind. The owner and employees are so very nice. And it has that "good ole grandma cooking". We were staying in Breckenridge for 5 days and ate here 3 different times. Just a tip if you order their pancakes they are as extremely large. But they are amazing!!!

A great "hole in the wall" breakfast joint. Ordered the hint pancake with sausage and eggs. The pancake was amazing. Nice and fluffy, no way I could finish it!

Most wonderful adventure. This little place is rough, but solid gold. The CFS goes on one plate, the sides go on one plate. If CFS doesn't mean anything to you, then probably leave Sissy's to the locals, because their Chicken-Fried Steak isn't gonna eat itself. Close to, and similar to, Mary's in Strawn, but if you're on the Sissy's side of the lake, come on down! If I remember right, you can also get a butterflied chicken-fried chicken breast.

When your food is made to order you can taste the freshness. It may take a little bit longer but I would not trade time for taste. The staff is wonderful we travel with a small dog that does not like to be left in the car so we were able to eat in the top secret area. My lunch is my standard order, how else can you judge a restaurant. Chicken fried steak. . I got the large order , two big Togo containers and a small one for the salad. I was not disappointed size matters and so does taste. My wife ordered the bacon cheeseburger another hit. All the food I saw looked incredible. We talked about spending the night so we could have breakfast This is a locals favorite, the parking lot has lots of white trucks. That is your 5 stars. If you are in a hurry it's totally worth the stop

Great breakfast or lunch. Family owned and operated. They have a home town vibe with large servings of food.

Always great food and service. Friendly staff and an un-Godly amount of food! Old burger joint atmosphere.

This cafe is appalling, food was cold and service was slow. And most disgusting racism. Never coming back.

My aunt had the salad bar, nice selection. Although our order took awhile the staff came over and was very pleasant in letting us know why. Even brought my nephew a rice krispy treat! It was worth the wait and I will be back. Clean and friendly atmosphere with photos of the town back in the days. Just wish I would of remembered to take a pic.

Unfortunately, the food is consistently undermined by poor customer service and a seemingly indifferent management. Food comes fast...too fast. Entrees sometimes arrive just minutes after the appetizer hits the table, making the meal feel rushed and poorly paced rather than enjoyable. You have to ask for everything, and even simple requests feel like inconveniences to the server. Once the food is delivered, there is little to no follow-up. Eventually, the bill is dropped on the table and the server disappears again. When you eat out, you're paying for more than just the food...you're paying for service and a well-managed dining experience. That's a big part of the value, and it simply isn't offered at Blackhorse. Eating out is already expensive, and it becomes unreasonably so when the service is this consistently lacking. If the service and overall management improved, this place might be worth reconsidering. For now, the decent food alone doesn't justify the experience or the expense.
