Far & away, THE VERY BEST home-related service our family has EVER received, period. A previous…read moreHVAC provider (Cleveland Furnace) installed a new air conditioning unit about 4-5 years ago. The same provider (still Cleveland Furnace) subsequently returned & installed an evaporator for the unit which was attached to our furnace. It developed a leak which in turn led to all the frion in the air conditioner leaking out. No frion, no cool air. Assured us at the end of the summer (2012) that we would be "at the very top of his priority list". May 2013 rolls around. Then mid-May and early June. After 2-3 weeks of multiple polite but increasingly urgent calls, texts, no response. Meanwhile, it's getting hotter & hotter & more & more humid. Finally, with elderly parents arriving & a party planned for the 2nd weekend of June we have no choice but to find another HVAC provider. This time I go on-line & look for reviews (sorry, yelp, didn't find them here) & picked Green Home Solutions... The tech, Ted, was prompt, polite & professional. Since I wasn't totally familiar with what appeared to be (& was) the problem, I had Ted speak with my husband on the phone. Between the 2 of them, the solution was determined & the repair was made. The fee for the repair seemed quite fair - although the cost for him to refill the frion, ~$800, hurt (new EPA regs & a steep hike in new formula). Mind you - this was NOT Green Home's fault (they didn't cause the leak, but fixed it) - but it does underscore WHY you need to use a reliable HVAC Company to begin with. Not only did we not hear back from them, we had to foot the bill for their shoddy work (no leak, no need to pay to refill frion, let alone the repair)! But wait! That's not the best part! Stay with me now: Ted ended up having to come back a second time because the repair ended up setting up a chain reaction which led to water leaking all over the basement (long story). He arrived that afternoon & ended up calling a second tech to help but they got the job done. Ted did not leave our home until 9:00 p.m. I now sit here cool as a cucumber on my couch. The party (& my parents) should be just fine next weekend. But I must say that I am simply BLOWN AWAY by Ted's tenacity & total determination to get the job done. No excuses, no run around, no delays. Amazing service, phenomenal work ethic & we didn't pay a single cent more. That, my friends, deserves 10 stars... But yelp will only let me give 'em 5!!

Meanwhile, in my head, the worst-case scenarios played. Luckily Mike fixed it all quickly, was friendly and polite, and wore shoe covers while he worked in the house. He was a real pro. I must also state that Bill did a GREAT job reviewing our house requirements & suggesting the appropriate size equipment. We discussed upgrading the filter system from what we currently had as it was poor at best. Bill suggested going to a #2410 Aprilaire media air cleaner. It has only been 4 days since installation. The system is very quiet. I can notice an improvement in the cooling. The Aprilaire air cleaner is a vast improvement from what we had. I have allergies. I purchased a new home in December 2018, and part of the reason I did so was that it had a…read moreWaterFurnace geothermal unit. It was an older unit, but the home inspection didn't turn up anything amiss with it. A couple hours after getting the keys to the house, I discovered fault lights on the furnace. I called the HVAC vendor who had been servicing the unit for the last 10 years and had them come out a few days later. I found out the hard way that resetting the breakers would turn off the fault lights for a few hours, which made the furnace appear to be normal. It also used an old R22 refrigerant, which is going to be unavailable in a couple years. The technician for the other company was very blunt with me and didn't seem to care that I had a broken furnace mere hours after purchasing the house. He seemed almost happy to throw out sky high numbers at me for what it would cost to replace. Dismayed, I went on WaterFurnace's website and found their local dealers in my area. I came across Echols' website and saw "Geothermal" mentioned many times on it. I emailed them on a late Friday afternoon to simply ask them if the astronomical number that I was quoted off the cuff was realistic. To my surprise, they responded within a half hour and said the owner, Jim, would contact me first thing on Monday. Sure enough, Jim and I talked first thing on Monday. He came out to my house and laid out all my options for a furnace and explained what I needed to buy, what I didn't really need to buy but could if I wanted to, and what could be bought at a later date. He was extremely low-pressure and didn't try to sell me a Cadillac when a Chevy would do just fine. His quote was about half of what the other company unofficially quoted me. I really appreciated that. His crew came out a couple weeks later to install my new furnace. The whole team was extremely professional and friendly and made me completely comfortable having them in my house. They took great care to make sure that they didn't damage any walls or floors when swapping out the units, and they didn't mind when I'd randomly check in on them to see how they were doing. At the end of the install, they walked me through a couple of quick items on the thermostat and then told me a follow-up technician would arrive in a few days to ensure everything was set up properly. After they left, I started hearing a horrible metal-on-metal noise, similar to what a refrigerator compressor sounds like when it's dying. I had hoped that my new furnace wasn't going to be noisy, but I decided to wait it out until the follow-up visit. When the technician arrived, he quickly confirmed that the noise wasn't right and that it was likely a metal rod or wire that was vibrating. After he performed his follow-up tasks to make sure the furnace was set up correctly, he spent some time isolating the noise. He then had me take him to the noisiest parts of my house to make sure it was quiet enough for me. I was happy when all I heard was the rushing of air out of the vents. In short, Echols is a great company and takes great care of their customers. I've always heard that it's hard to find a good car mechanic to trust, and I would have to say the same about finding a good HVAC company. Based on my experience with them, I've definitely found a company to trust. I'm looking forward to doing many years of business with them, and I will certainly never hesitate to recommend them to anyone I talk to who needs HVAC work done.
