Business travelers will find A full health club, a great English pub, a Starbucks and a Buca di Beppo in the lounge of this 3-story facility. If you haven't been to Europe, there are a few oddities you might never have experienced. First, there are no key cards here. You get a real key with an odd looking keychain. The chain acts like a master switch to the lights and TV. SO if you arrive at night and the door slams shut, you will be truly groping in the dark and wondering why the light switch does not work.. If this happens, open the door to the hall to let light in the room. Find the "thingamajiggy" on the wall and insert your key chain. Now flip on the switches. Newcastle can be fairly dark and the lighting is still pretty dark. Make sure you also turn on each outlet. No doubt after a long travel your phone might need charging and you don't want to find out that your phone is not charging just because you didn't flip the switch. The room is large enough and the bathroom is a decent size with heated towel racks. The gym is full service and very popular in the area. You will find many of the locals coming and going after work. Also the restaurant and pub are well utilized every day of the week. The Victory pub is probably where you would want to eat as service is a little faster and you can get more local fare. We ate at Buca di Beppo one night for variety and comfort food one night. The dishes were basic but different from the American menus. Highly recommend if you are strictly here for business and will not need to be in downtown Newcastle.

The hotel is…read morelocated quite a distance from Newcastle City Centre, requiring a 30 minute journey by Metro & bus or a £20 cab ride. The hotel itself is a bit of a mixed bag, the ground floor reception area with bar & restaurant feels quite modern (I figured it must've had a recent refit) but the rooms were starting to show their age. The bathroom in my room in particular was looking a bit rough around the edges. The room was warm & fairly quiet, facilitating a fairly sound sleep, although there was some noise creeping in from surrounding rooms. There were signs stating they offered WiFi throughout the hotel, but I didn't use it. The health club looked fairly modern & there seemed to be a good number of locals using it. Despite the hotel being full over the weekend, the staff throughout where very friendly & helpful, they really did give a great account of themselves. All in all this was a decent, if short, visit to the hotel. I'd struggle to recommend the hotel to visitors simply because of its location, but if you were visiting the business park for work then I'd say you're best to stay here.

It might have been when I was 5 but now it is really run down. The decor is very old fashioned and in need of a good clean. The bar was small and only had one member of staff so there was a queue. When we were served, we were given our fizzy drinks from a bottle and not a dispenser so they were flat and not worth drinking. We didn't stay for the buffet as I don't think I could have eaten anything. There is a large car park outside, with plenty of spaces. I wouldn't recommend this place unless your budget was really low and couldn't afford anywhere else.

The owner, Stan, has placed love and hard work into this hotel that he has run for 30yrs and it shows!!! Upon entering, you are greeted by him and his adorable dog, Georgia. He gives you the rundown and introduces you to any friends that may be visiting (once a guest, always a friend). This is the epitome of Newcastles charm. The rooms are named after trees, which being a hippie lover myself, I embraced wholly. Spacious and well stocked with not only the warm-cup essentials, but basics also like toothbrushes and shampoos. Breakfast is included in the price, which is fabulous. Even though we ran out the door quickly the first morning, Stan made sure we took time to eat something that was freshly prepared. How very wonderful this place is. Like a warm hug and ale kisses!! I look forward to many more visits in the future if this is our college of choice. (Crossing fingers)

We booked a month in advance on booking.com, meaning we got a great deal for two double rooms. Check out time is extremely reasonable, at 12pm for no extra cost. Perfect if you've got a late night ahead of you and fancy a lie-in the next morning. Newcastle is the place to party, after all! Embrace that lie-in. The hotel was pretty standard. Rooms have baths, televisions, kettles; everything you'd possibly need for the duration of your stay and no nasty extra hidden costs. Room service is also available. My only complaint was that our hallway had a funny smell when we arrived. We soon discovered that there were plates with leftover fish and chips left outside one of the rooms. It seemed that the guests had left it for the cleaning staff. This couldn't be helped and the hallway was clean and fresh by the time we returned that evening. There's also a bouncer on the door in the evening so prepare for that. You'll just need your name checked off a list and to give your room number. The room itself was about 9 foot by 10 foot and included a squeaky double bed, a small cheap wardrobe/cipboard, a plywood shelf as a "desk" and an upright chair. The TV was a small 10 inch screen perched on top of the wardrobe about 7 foot high. The en-suite was a partitioned off part of the room with an electric shower, basin and toilet with small-bore macerator pump. The paint work to the inside bathroom door frame looked as if it had been prepared for re-painting but there was no other sign of repainting. The gold nylon bedcover and the thin duvet, the decoration and the size reminded me of B&Bs from the early 80s. At £70 for this double room it was very overpriced. The spa facilities are quite good, the gym is slightly on the small side but still useable. Lovely swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room with friendly staff. I had one dinner here in their Hawthorne restaurant, and it was one of the best meals I think I've had in a hotel! To start with I had rabbit popcorn which was well seasoned, moist and extremely tasty and for my first try of rabbit, I was impressed! For mains I had a venison burger with chips. The venison burger was literally one of the best I have ever had! I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was cooked too perfection! Not too red but juicy and crumbly - utterly delicious! The room itself was gorgeous - lots of space, a plush king bed, comfortable sofa, and a lovely bathroom with large soaking tub. The staff was more than willing to accomodate our needs, and very friendly. They were more than happy to drive us from the main hotel to our room in a golf cart whenever we needed a lift, and spent considerable time helping me connect to the wireless network. We greatly enjoyed afternoon tea service on the patio overlooking the golf course. The scones and sandwiches were delicious and the presentation was just lovely.
