The exterior décor of the pub needs refreshing. We had a room at the end of a very dark-wood panelled 3-foot wide corridor that strongly smelt of the previous day's roast lamb (I think) - this pervaded the room under the gap at the bottom of the door and the room stank all night - even the next morning the smell was still there, and the corridor still stank.
The room itself was about 9 foot by 10 foot and included a squeaky double bed, a small cheap wardrobe/cipboard, a plywood shelf as a "desk" and an upright chair. The TV was a small 10 inch screen perched on top of the wardrobe about 7 foot high. The en-suite was a partitioned off part of the room with an electric shower, basin and toilet with small-bore macerator pump. The paint work to the inside bathroom door frame looked as if it had been prepared for re-painting but there was no other sign of repainting.
The gold nylon bedcover and the thin duvet, the decoration and the size reminded me of B&Bs from the early 80s. At £70 for this double room it was very overpriced.

I expect the restaurant is quite good, breakfast was fine but we couldn't eat there because of the smell.
We asked to leave 5 minutes after we arrived but as they wouldn't refund the charge we decided we couldn't afford to. read more
