It came about as a result of our recent relocation to Columbus, Ohio. As it turned out the buyer of our condominium in San Diego purchased our unit 'as is' complete with all furniture and decorating items. That fact alone speaks volumes regarding the quality of our first project with Jessica. With this move, we were transitioning to a 5100 square foot home and were starting from scratch. To complicate the matter, our new home was in Columbus and the project was going to have to rely on some serious communication skills, strong remote coordination and commitment to the decorating plan, timing expectations and budget envelope. Jessica & her team knocked the ball out of the park. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Jessica has the ability to take a blank sheet of paper, pepper in client preferences, and then deliver an award winning design on-time and on budget. If I were to describe her attributes they might include: Creativity & innovation - She has the uncanny ability to walk into a space and immediately see the possibilities. It is as if she was simply born with the design gene. Balances cost/value - The one thing I like most about J Hill is that there is not a cookie-cutter approach. Based on a solid understanding of customer preferences and budget constraints, she delivers solutions. And, importantly her solutions are turnkey. We went from an empty house to a beautiful showcase home in just 8-10 weeks. On budget and on time. Always available / technologically advanced- Even being over 2000 miles apart presented no challenge. Through routine conference calls, videoconferences, email and site visits, it felt as though our designer was located right here in Columbus. Put simply, Jessica collaboratively assembles the plan and then executes it flawlessly. We have used a lot of designers in the past, but none that I would recommend over J Hill Interiors. Not sure why but it could be the layout of the house, the size of the job or maybe just us that they felt they just didn't want to take on our project. Fine by us. We contacted Jessica. She was referred to us by my wife's co-worker. Jessica and Amy came out to our house and we just loved their energy and the way they handled things. They asked us questions about our preferences and ideas and from there they went to work. They always were available to us when we had questions and they always updated us in each phase of the project. We knew what we were spending and for what and where. They did our dining room, conversation room, master bedroom and living room. These were the rooms that were the focal point of the house and wanted to make it special when we entertain and have guests. They took our preferences and put together the most stunning designs from furniture to paint to everything else in between. We would have never thought of the color scheme, furniture selection, artwork or accessories that they put together. That's why they are the professionals! On the install day, we were in awe. We could not believe this was our house! Everyday we come home and we just sit here and pinch ourselves. We keep saying, "wow, this is our house!" While they work on hourly consult rates which is a refreshing option for many of us, on a recent project, my business was clearly not valued. Calls and emails were not returned for days or weeks, plans not sent as promised, all eventually resolved through my repeated follow-ups. The justified reason is that a bigger client was requiring all their time. Customer Service 101. I pay my invoices on time and without question. I will set aside the sales tax issue which required multiple emails to be resolved. The last straw was the requirement to pay for a 4th consult by a sharp deadline or my consult would be canceled. What choice did I have? I will find an interior design firm that will appreciate my business.

She was late to almost all of our meetings, but was constantly checking the time which was quite uncomfortable. Her assistant, Michelle, was very kind during our meetings. Lastly, we found out that she copied her prior client's dinning room design and put it in our proposal. While it is with reason to take inspiration from other work, copying over an identical table, chair, drapery, window covering, and colors, etc. from one's own previous client and pitching it to the next is very unprofessional, considering we were billed 30 hours to design the dinning room.
