My wife and I bought a house in PQ last September. The house was remodeled and updated in the master bathroom and kitchen. Although the builders did some nice touches to the house, we weren't thrilled with it. To top it off, the furniture we had from our old house was boring, too matchy-match and cheap looking. Since our house was an upgrade from our last, we wanted to to things right and make it the house that we always wanted. We've watched HGTV and shows of the like that had interior makeovers and what not and we knew we wanted something like that done as well. We had no idea what to expect from working with an interior designer. We contacted a couple of designers before we contacted Jessica. The first two designers seemed uninterested with working with us. Not sure why but it could be the layout of the house, the size of the job or maybe just us that they felt they just didn't want to take on our project. Fine by us. We contacted Jessica. She was referred to us by my wife's co-worker. Jessica and Amy came out to our house and we just loved their energy and the way they handled things. They asked us questions about our preferences and ideas and from there they went to work. They always were available to us when we had questions and they always updated us in each phase of the project. We knew what we were spending and for what and where. They did our dining room, conversation room, master bedroom and living room. These were the rooms that were the focal point of the house and wanted to make it special when we entertain and have guests. They took our preferences and put together the most stunning designs from furniture to paint to everything else in between. We would have never thought of the color scheme, furniture selection, artwork or accessories that they put together. That's why they are the professionals! On the install day, we were in awe. We could not believe this was our house! Everyday we come home and we just sit here and pinch ourselves. We keep saying, "wow, this is our house!" And when we have parties and get together s, people are just in love with everything. We are so proud to live here. Jessica and Amy were a joy to work with. They listen, they act on it and they get things done. They were so worth it. Go with them, you will not be disappointed! read more

Over the last several years Jessica Tompane and her J Hill Interiors Design Group have evolved into a world-class design organization. I most certainly would recommend the team to anyone embarking on a design project of their own. This was our second design project with Jessica. It came about as a result of our recent relocation to Columbus, Ohio. As it turned out the buyer of our condominium in San Diego purchased our unit 'as is' complete with all furniture and decorating items. That fact alone speaks volumes regarding the quality of our first project with Jessica. With this move, we were transitioning to a 5100 square foot home and were starting from scratch. To complicate the matter, our new home was in Columbus and the project was going to have to rely on some serious communication skills, strong remote coordination and commitment to the decorating plan, timing expectations and budget envelope. Jessica & her team knocked the ball out of the park. We couldn't be happier with the end result. Jessica has the ability to take a blank sheet of paper, pepper in client preferences, and then deliver an award winning design on-time and on budget. If I were to describe her attributes they might include: Creativity & innovation - She has the uncanny ability to walk into a space and immediately see the possibilities. It is as if she was simply born with the design gene. Balances cost/value - The one thing I like most about J Hill is that there is not a cookie-cutter approach. Based on a solid understanding of customer preferences and budget constraints, she delivers solutions. And, importantly her solutions are turnkey. We went from an empty house to a beautiful showcase home in just 8-10 weeks. On budget and on time. Always available / technologically advanced- Even being over 2000 miles apart presented no challenge. Through routine conference calls, videoconferences, email and site visits, it felt as though our designer was located right here in Columbus. Put simply, Jessica collaboratively assembles the plan and then executes it flawlessly. We have used a lot of designers in the past, but none that I would recommend over J Hill Interiors. If you are in the market for affordable design services that deliver tremendous value, you wont go wrong with Jessica Tompane and the entire J Hill Interior Design group. read more

SO lets just say I am creatively challenged! I have never had an ounce of decorating skills. I now have a new office that I needed to have look professional yet inviting. I described to Jessica exactly what I wanted and gave her my style likes which were very vague and Man did she nail it! I can not get over how much she understood of what I wanted by making a one sentence comment to her. I have received so many compliments on my office space. I brought my husband up to see it and the first words out of his mouth were that he could not wait to buy a house just so Jessica could decorate it for us. She was awesome and sticking to our budget and checking in with me to make sure I was on the same page. She also worked in the background! I was able to continue my work while she made my office come alive! If you are looking to make your space amazing you must call Jessica! read more

My wife and I are extremely happy with the results we got partnering with J Hill Interiors. Kilian and Jessica guided us through a multitude of decisions for our remodeling project and we are super pleased with the outcome. Our kitchen, hardwood floors, and master bathroom are absolutely beautiful now! Kilian and Jessica are both not only talented, but patient and thoughtful. Thank you sooooo much! We have a condo in the Coronado Cays and did a complete remodel. Jessica gave us the name of an excellent draftsman who created a design with her. Once that was compete Jessica and Amy did the rest from paint colors, tile selection and placement, cabinet design, bath vanities, doors, hardware, etc. It was a challenge for us because we live in Phx. They keep us informed on the progress with photos and many phone conferences. I couldn't be more happy! The place looks amazing! Having said that, I now hesitate to put my old tired furniture back into my new update condo. Jessica is going to help me with that as well. I have complete confidence in her and her team to make this my dream home at the beach. Thank you so much! read more

I hired J Hill Interiors to tackle a decorating project after I completed some minor renovations. They listened to my vision, understood what I wanted and executed it brilliantly! I brought them back later on to tackle an outdoor decorating project because my experience with them was so pleasant. I would highly recommend them no matter the type or size of interior design project you are doing. They were great! read more

Every time I come to our vacation home in San Diego I get a little sad about how ugly our design turned out and a little upset that Jessica had intentionally overcharged us for some items. At our interview, Jessica said she gets designer discounts and would pass it along. When I asked her why she didn't tell me she was going to mark up items so significantly for decor she bought at Z Gallery she threw the contract at me stating that she could mark up items 30% without telling me. Some items were marked up over 100% and in addition she charged me for calling Z Gallery to negotiate her discount (see the time billing statement). Also, we got charged more time for inputting orders into the "studio web" and other clerical work than actual design time. In fact, Jessica and her team only visited the house once to design the house. She charged us restocking fees for items we refused to put in our house and when we called the company where she purchased the item from, they told us there was no restocking fee. When asked for the receipt to prove that she was charged a restocking fee, she refused saying she didn't have to show us any receipts. Jessica also refused to patch up holes that were made for some items that were returned and some redesigned areas we had to have redone, and we spent thousands on extras like warehouse, storage, delivery and set up fees that, while the wording is in the contract, are not quantified until you get your bill...surprise! I ended up paying over $150,000 for the design and furniture and I'm still just so disappointed. I've worked with other designers for our other homes and businesses and never felt so ripped off. read more

Yelpers, this woman was in my home. I bought a Groupon! Further proof. Jessica handed me her card, which I can upload a photo of & asked me to leave her a review after I used her services. She had one or two good ideas on what to remodel but they weren't what I'd hired her for nor asked about. Her website pictures looked like she had wonderful taste, but I didn't experience that genius side of her. I'm now so glad I didn't take out a brand new window and put in doors as she suggested. Her second "good idea" required me to go to a specific company. I wish to this day I could have followed through with that. I asked her in person and again via email for the name of the company and for some reason she wouldn't divulge anything. She was on the clock & being paid for her expert advice and yet she never would tell me where I could have the paint removed from my kitchen cabinet doors. I was left with the impression I'd have to pay her to come out again, or she would have to be paid more to make these calls to her contractors & connections. She wants a $ cut of everything. Just be honest if you want to make sure you get a referral fee, it's unfair to withhold information from a paying customer. She also said she had a wonderful floor guy, but again I couldn't get his name from her so the entire 2 hour consult was a complete waste of my time and money. I felt ripped off to put it plainly. Her choices of paint colors for my home ended up looking hideous once the samples were on the walls. I'd told everyone I would be hiring an interior designer to ensure I had the best looking house in the neighborhood. Friends came by to look at the paint samples and all I heard was "yuck". I'm so glad I only bought the smallest sizes as nothing worked. That was a major disappointment. She arrived to my appointment late eluding that her not being able to find my home was somehow my fault (no GPS?) and then she was tired so she left early without asking if I had anything else I needed her help. I'd paid for 2 hours of her time and she short changed me about 20 minutes. She forgot to make a single suggestion for the only bathroom and it needed a total remodel. I was willing to pay her to come back and try her color wheel again, but after emailing me to say she'd love to help me again, she never returned my call when I said the paint didn't look good. She asked how much money I had to invest in the house. I hadn't thought about it and price was really not an issue so I picked $50,000 to start. Maybe that wasn't enough to interest her. I'm befuddled as to why there are so many 5 star reviews when I had such a poor experience. I wanted to be a thrilled customer too. She seemed to be a very nice Christian lady. Her attire was far too casual for a professional business woman. It was awkward as I did not want to see her right butt cheek with a thick black line fish tattoo. In her reply she said she no visible tattoos. Like plumbers crack, it was exposed in my face. Shall we take it to a medical review to see who saw what Jessica. Anyone that can't handle the honest the truth needs to be exposed fully and completely stripped naked I gather. In closing if you use her services and have a room that's off limits, lock the door or speak up. She opened a closed door and walked right into a private room where she was not invited to enter. It was the only time I felt like I had a Lookie loo casing the house and not a designer. Thanks Yelp for not removing my review. Since Jessica wasn't honest. I lowered it to one star. Two was way to generous. If you'd like to refund the Groupon, let me know. You were a marathon runner and you stink. read more

Jessica was extremely helpful, professional, efficient and a joy to work with. Taking the circa 1929, 13 seat diner and transforming it into a colorful, classy Mexican/American style cafe was no easy feat. She has a great work ethic and is a natural project manager, along with quick wit, bubbly personality, that complimented my graphic design input. The job was done quickly, creatively, and within budget....The "before and after" photos are like "Night and Day" read more

I have used J. Hill for a couple of projects. Awesome is the only word to describe this company. Initially they came in when I bought my home and helped me with colors and design and furniture layout. Recently, I decided to do a kitchen remodel to a tropical feel. Jessica and Amy came out and discussed some ideas. I was very comfortable as they figured out exactly what would work best. They came back with a design and off we went. Amy was in charge and setup meetings with my contractor, cabinet makers, etc. Amy actually was more like the project manager than designer. She kept everyone on schedule and let everyone know that she has very high expectations and there is no compromising. I stay busy and as much as I like to stay on top of details, I couldn't. Amy, made it all very easy. She would supply a couple of options to each aspect of the kitchen remodel. She gave me a selection of paint colors, cabinet style and stain, sink style, counter top edging and more. I was shown how all of this would go together and complement each other. I never would have figured this out myself. Amy met me at 3 different stone slab yards to help me pick out the right slabs for my counters. The Sea Pearl Quartzite was amazing. I even learned how important the little details like cabinet pulls are and proper placement. They even had this idea to do a basket weave leather insert into some of my cabinet doors...so cool. Amy and Jessica were on top of my project from start to finish. I had the pleasure of meeting many of their team members along the way and all were exceptional and focused. I would make the highest recommendation for J. Hill Interiors. Don't waste your time....just call them! You will be happy you did! read more

I just recently finished a restaurant remodel with the help of Jessica from J.Hill Interior Designs. I've been through other remodels and I have to admit Jessica is the complete package. She understood the project scope and budget and delivered results that totally transformed the look and feel of the restaurant. Not only is she a talented designer, but she also has the project leadership skills that resulted in the successful completion of this project. read more

We originally found JHill through a friend of ours for whom they had done a full home service, top to bottom decor, and I'm so glad we did! Jessica and her team were a delight to work with and made decorating our home a fun and easy process. They made it a point to get to know my personal preferences and style and presented beautiful options that were almost always spot on. They were able to combine our personal tastes with the style of our new home seamlessly and did stunning work. read more

Jessica helped me fix up my room while my husband was away with the Navy. I wanted to surprise my husband with an organized space that felt like a "mini-vacation" when he entered. Jessica helped me move the furniture around in a way that I could not have come up on my own. The new position of my bed shows off the unique angles of the roof and makes the room look more interesting. We went with a "posh-cabin feel", which my husband loved! She also helped me set up pictures and a mirror on an overwhelming size of a wall. The pictures are clustered perfectly and the wall looks professionally done. Jessica is a very fun person to be around, but it also very diligent and hardworking. I highly recommend her for any design job and I believe she can make your home or workspace a better representation of who you are- or at least only your best attributes ;) read more

I had the absolute pleasure of working closely with Jessica on a room makeover project with the San Diego based non profit Cecily's Closet {http://www.cecilyscloset.org/} that dedicates room makeovers to children with special needs to better their overall health, function, and success for themselves and their families! I called upon Jessica to come on in a volunteer capacity as lead designer to make this room just perfect for little "J". I cannot tell you how much Jessica surpassed my every expectation with her passion, knowledge, insight in not only making the room bright, colorful, and fun but also doing special research and working closely with the family to take into account the child's special needs. I seriously could not have dreamed that in a short amount of time that Jessica could have accomplished all that she did and her organization, and skill shined through on the day of when we redid not one but two rooms; for "J" and his sister, and also installed a safety gate on the stairs to prevent future injuries. Jessica literally thought of everything and then some! I think that when you pay someone for a service you should get a wonderful final project but when you see a business owner take on a volunteer based charitable job and get that level of work, now that is passion. I would highly recommend J Hill Interior Designs to anyone who wants a true professional that is also going to work tirelessly for them to give them not only what they want but also surpass their every expectation! I've worked (as a vendor) with Jessica and her team at J Hill for more than 2 years, and I can't say enough good things about them. As her main photographer, I get the opportunity to see spaces before and after her designs are executed. From small bachelor pad condos in PB to sprawling ranches in Rancho Santa Fe, the scope of her work is incredible, and her consistency is second to none. If you're on the fence about hiring a good designer vs DIY, don't hesitate - hire Jess & Co and make your home look the way it was meant to. read more

This review is specific to Jessica's Home Consultation service. We recently moved into a new home and wanted some ideas on interior paint colors / designs to liven up the space. Jessica was responsive, thorough and worked within the parameters that we articulated. That being said, she wasn't afraid to throw out some creative and bold ideas and challenge our comfort level. She wrote up a very detailed plan based on what we talked through and followed up after the consultation was complete. We had a great experience working with Jessica, and would highly recommend her. read more

I first hired Jessica to do the Master bedroom in my new house. Due to an out of state move and costs associated with buying a new home I needed the room done in a very cost conscious way. Jessica was so good about this and sourced materials and items from less expensive vendors. The bedroom came out beautifully and on budget. Since that time Jessica has added a built in bar in the living room and added a beautiful niche in the master. She has chosen blinds, drapery, rugs, paint colors and reupholstered 2 chairs. She has been so good about doing things slowly, a piece at a time, so as not to overwhelm my finances. I have also been impressed with all the trades people she has recommended from painters to window treatment people to cabinet builder. Jessica is definitely a sweet heart and a talented designer. She will go down as one of my "best finds" in San Diego. read more

I couldn't be happier with the results! Jessica is so much fun to work with! She had excellent ideas and was also very open to collaborating with my husband and I. She integrated our style into everything she chose. She helped turn our drab kitchen into a really fun and funky space! She also helped decorate shelving we have in our living room and made it so much more appealing. I had no idea what to do with the space! We also chose couches and refinished a chair with her help. I would recommend Jessica to anyone. She has great style, is super professional and responsive and was also a blast to work with! I will definitely use J. Jessica was amazing! I was looking for an HGTV home remodel experience and she gave us that! She created a beautiful home for us with very little direction. Our only idea we came into the project was the color of the interior. . , .She planned the rest for us!! We were living overseas with a 16 hour time difference while we planned out our remodel for our home in San Diego. She was willing to work at odd hours, sent us photos of choices, kept us up to date on the costs, and worked with our renters to gain access into our home. When we moved back, it was like moving into a brand new home. All of her contractors were fantastic and took pride in their work. We have been able to recommend Jessica to quite a few of our friends when they have seen our "new" home. She made a typically high stress experience turn out to be a fun and exciting time! I highly recommend Jessica and her team. read more

I wish I could give Jessica and her team more than 5 stars!!! She is such a talented designer and professional business person. I called her based on her reviews on Yelp. She met us a few days later to "interview" each other to make sure we were all on the same page. From day one, she listened to our vision and budget and developed a custom plan for us. She went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable with colors, furniture, lighting, carpet that she selected. We asked her to do the leg work and narrow everything down to 3 choices within each category when selecting pieces and colors. Needless to say, we are so happy with our home and never thought it could look so amazing. She was also very good at staying within our budget. She is the real deal folks. Absolute pleasure to work with!!!! read more

I am very impressed with my designer, Amy! She has been part of our remodel since the moment we decided to update our home. She has spent many hours coming to our home, meeting with me in the J Hill office to discuss designs, and researching the perfect people and products for our remodel. Her expertise and advice has been solid and reassuring. This is our first home update of any kind, so going into it we we're pretty nervous. Amy has made the transition easy for us as well as enjoyable, which I didn't expect to happen. I will use her again for future projects and have excitedly referred Amy & J Hill Interior Design to many of my family and friends! Thanks so much for all of your hard work. Your passion for design shows throughout our home! read more

It was such a delight to meet Jessica. She listened patiently to all my ideas, shared her opinions with me and immediately started working on the concept. I could not wait to post this review! J. Hill Interior Designs just completed a project in my home. My husband and I love it! We feel like we have moved into a new house. Jessica and Amy were wonderful and did a fantastic job! From the beginning of the project to completion I enjoyed their professional yet personable style. I was pleasantly surprised to find that after meeting with them for a one hour consultation they were able to put together a concept for me that was full of ideas that I loved. The concept included little details I like that I never would have thought to bring up. I wondered many times how did they know? Pure Talent! Once the project started both were in touch regularly so I always knew what was going on. Jessica and Amy are also very budget conscious and always consulted me on more cost effective options. I really can't express how much I love our living and dining room. Our next project will be our home office and a bathroom remodel and I look forward to working with Jessica and Amy again! read more

I had a consultation with Jessica last year to get ideas on condo renovations and she didn't disappoint! We went through things like paint color, counter material and color, flooring options, lighting, kitchen and bathroom upgrades; and she had clean, practical recommendations for all of them, without pushing her own tastes on you. I highly recommend Jessica if you want modern, contemporary, solid ideas on how to renovate your home. Very helpful, very organized, responsive, up-to-date, and great to work with. Thanks! read more

Jessica and Amy were awesome. My husband and I bought a vacation home in San Diego and they took our random thoughts and turned it into a real vision. The place turned out beautiful. This was a difficult project that we gave to J Hill Interior Design. I am on the Home Owner Association Board in a very large Condo Complex. Just getting through the Board process was very challenging, as the Board has to be very conservative and careful on how the homeowners' money is spent. Our lobby was in dire need of help. It had recent beautiful and very expensive work done on tile flooring. But then, the furniture pieces were being purchased, one piece at a time without a plan. The pieces that were being purchased were becoming a hodgepodge look and it was time to stop the nonsense before it was too late. There was a lot of push back from the HOA Board every step of the way that we would even consider using an Interior Designer. Of course, the homeowners were very much willing on wanting to design the lobby themselves. The problem is, none of them are actual designers and they each had their personal ideas that would not benefit the entire community. This condo complex houses young adults all the way up to the elderly. J Hill Interior Design was interviewed and passed through a 4 month process of getting to the point where the very tough Board finally agreed to the final approval of the furniture. The board insisted we needed to keep the furniture that was already purchased that did not go well together. I personally thought we were throwing good money after bad and would of rather sold off the recently bought furniture that was a mistake and have Jessica start over. I had great confidence in Jessica but looking at the existing furniture she needed to work with, I definitely had concerns on the final look. The day of installation, Jessica was under fire with many residents passing through and giving her their 2 cents. She was very pleasant to them and continued working with her own plan. By the end of the evening, when the project was just about complete, I visited the lobby to view the project and was amazed how the lobby had been transformed. It was beautiful. The furnishings Jessica had purchased had tied together with the previous hodgepodge pieces. She somehow managed to make everything go together beautifully. I believed she would do a great job with what she had to work with, but never expected this outcome with the challenges that were thrown at her. Jessica truly mastered it!! I would definitely recommend J Hill Interior Design. It is a very professional and talented firm and I'm sure anyone who uses them will be very happy. read more
