They forgot to make my food. Horrible service. But they apologised so I forgave them.

However, their Biryanis were underwhelming and tasted bad. Like it was just colored Basmati rice with some spices and paneer chunks . Prices are very high overall compared to other Indian restaurants. But I would probably visit again if desperate and want to visit far away Parammatta.

When you get there you scan a QR code and once your table is ready, you get a text and are shown to your table. You scan another QR code at your table which takes you to an ordering menu. There is already water at the table, with place settings. You order food through the App, then once it's ready either a human or a "Tray Robot" delivers it to your table! Seriously, a Robot!!! How cool is that! It even talks to you! The food was just incredible. We're in Sydney for a months vacation, and this was the best meal for me, in the past 3 weeks, and we've eaten at some really good places! There's another one of these restaurants nearer our Hotel and we'll be trying that too. According to the sign outside they are the most popular Vegetarian Indian Restaurant Chain in the world! Turns out they even have a restaurant in Sunnyvale, CA, which we visited many years ago, probably before Yelp! I would thoroughly recommend this place if you are in the mood for some excellent vegetarian Indian food!

Please do not mistaken this with Himalaya Palace which is just across the road. The buffet table is located in separate room. Please mind your step as you enter or exit this room. To the left you will find salad, dessert and some sauce. One of them is definitely Raita sauce for your Biryani. For their non-veg options, I would recommend their Lahori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Tandoori Chicken and Lahori Fried Fish. I am not a big fan of Lamb dish but the Lamb Madras is yummy enough for me to come back for seconds. From the veg trays I recommend Paneer Tikka Masala, Palak (I was told there is no Paneer) and I think the other two are called Malai Kofta and Daal Makni. If you come here for the carb would suggest take the Biryani and Garlic Naan. Skip everything else to avoid disappointment. Please ensure you leave enough room for two serving of their dessert. This is what makes your dining experience memorable. The name of the dessert is (pardon the spelling) Pista Falooda which is pinkish noodle similar to Indo/Malay cendol with Pistachio Ice cream. You can definitely taste the crunchy Pistachio nuts in it. I would recommend you to start your dinner here before 6 PM to get better service.

Their curries are delicious and their Naan bread is soft. I like to order their thali as you can taste a huge range of veggies. It is sort of like a buffet for an individual. I especially love the accompaniments like raita and sweet they give with it. They also sell a small collection of Indian grocery items. Not exactly in a food court, but on the same floor, it is located outside Coles near the fresh food and vegetable market.

However this place caught my eye when in Parramatta recently, the diners were mainly Indian, always a good sign for an Indian eatery. Plus, the menu had very little of the usual Indian takeaway stuff, and loads of dishes i'd never heard of before, including some Indian Chinese dishes. I was intrigued, so decided to order a vegetarian thali (several small portions of different dishes), as well as a naan. The naan was amazing, better than most places i've tried, and the various vegetarian curries in my thali were all pretty decent too, again light years ahead of most Indian places i've tried. Since they cater more to Indian palates than Australian ones the curries are spicier and more flavoursome, which is a good or a bad thing depending on your tastebuds, I personally think it's a good thing. As has been said before they also stock a selection of Indian groceries, can't really comment on these though as I didn't buy any. Taj Indian Masala is located in Westfield Parramatta, on the 5th floor near Coles. They also have outlets in Homebush, Harris Park and Mount Druitt.

Merrylands in Sydney's western suburbs is home to a large Afghani population…read more There is a myriad of Afghani restaurants all a stone's throw from the suburban railway station along with some well-stocked Middle Eastern grocery and butcher shops and some other restaurants with a Persian and Syrian flavour. Which isn't out of place as Afghan food is influenced by Iranian, Indian and Mongolian cuisines and ingredients. Kebab Al-Hojat is a hole in the wall and just does kebabs. Now when Sydney siders think of kebabs that usually conjures images of the typical late-night hangover cure of a donar kebab - shaved lamb and salad with your sauce of choice all rolled up for convenience (extra paper napkins please)! Kebab Al-Hojat is Afghani - they don't do donar kebabs. But as it is they're only speciality they do a kebab very, very well and if you don't there at about 11.30am you may have to expect to wait for a table in its small space. The pick is the mixed kebab ($13) - you get three meats that come straight off the skewers - beef (absolutely tender and succulent), chicken (seasoned well and good), and what I would call lamb kofta which is second only to those wonderful cubes of meat mentioned before! All of this is accompanied with a basket of Afghani bread (it's similar to naan and if you haven't tried this type of bread its worth just coming here to taste it as they make it themselves), a yoghurt raita, chilli sauce and a plate of salad (usually onion, lettuce and red cabbage). There is a jar of sumac on every table so you can season your meats. The menu is limited to the variety of kebabs they do (about six varieties including the minced plate). Order your kebab of choice and it's skewered and placed in the clay "tonir" that resembles a tandoor (none of this shaved meat stuff that is rotated for hours on end in other "kebab joints") - it's made fresh to order. The interior is spartan but so what - you come here for food and not atmosphere and if it wasn't for the Hondas and Toyotas buzzing past outside you could be at a kebab house in Kabul. Kebab Al-Hojat is a great place to experience Afghani street food before or after exploring the great food places that Merrylands has to offer. And kids love it!
