My first visit was for a haircut. I showed the stylist a reference photo of the wolf cut I wanted and explained the look I was hoping for. Instead, my hair was cut into a short, layered, shoulder-length style that looked very different from the inspiration photo. Once it's cut, there's no way to undo it, and I left feeling really sad and disappointed.
Even after that experience, I decided to give the salon another chance and returned for a hair color appointment. Again, I brought a reference photo of the blonde/balayage color I wanted. To my surprise, my hair was colored black instead. When I expressed my disappointment, I was told that some people don't like blonde hair because it can make them look older. While I appreciate the feedback, that wasn't the look I had asked for. I had chosen the color intentionally, and I expected my preference to be respected.
I do appreciate that they refunded me for the hair color, which I think was the right thing to do. However, a refund doesn't change the fact that my hair is now much darker than I wanted, and it will take time, money, and multiple sessions to safely achieve the blonde or balayage look I originally requested.
My biggest concern wasn't the refund--it was that my requests were not followed on either visit. I hope this feedback encourages the salon to listen more closely to their clients' preferences and communicate honestly if a requested style or color isn't achievable, rather than choosing a different result without the client's agreement.
