Good variety and lot of options for grocery items. Fresh fruit juice bar is an addition to the ambience.

I love markets, I really do. I never would've discovered this market if my aunt didn't live 5…read moreminutes away. It's adorable! The market runs from June - October and runs along Main Street North and Main Street South. It only runs from 7am - 1pm, so make sure to get there early so you don't miss out on all the fresh goodies. It was a beautiful June day when I stopped by and the weather was perfect! There were plenty of local vendors displaying a variety of products - empanadas, arepas, ice cream, fruits, veggies, breads, and so much more! My aunt and I split a chicken pupusa, which is an El Salvadorian flatbread topped w/ a variety of meats/veggies. It's similar to an arepa if you've had that before. I LOVED it. It was fun to watch them knead the dough, throw it in the fryer and make it fresh right in front of you. We also grabbed some ice cream and some empanadas, all of which were delicious and perfect for the warm June day. One of my flaws (or good qualities...depends who you are) is wanting to buy every single market vendor product I see, especially if it's food. This market was no exception - everything looked delicious! Luckily, I had my grandma around to keep me in check...although she isn't much better than me. If I'm back to visit my fam in the GTA in the summer again, I'll definitely be coming back here.

I spotted this new supermarket as I made a left turn from Highway 27 onto Finch Avenue West. I was…read moreheading to Wok of Asia to have some dinner. I needed to pick up a few grocery items, so dropping by Food World Supermarket afterwards was perfect. This building used to Rose Garden Banquet and Convention. I'm guessing that due to the pandemic, this business suffered and shut down. There is plenty of parking in front and around this supermarket. I backed into a spot and walked in. The doors automatically open, which is wonderful. This supermarket is located across from Burger King. I often frequent it when I crave a flame-broiled burger. Both are in the same plaza as Wok of Asia. It's clean and cheerful when you first walk in. You see cases of pop and sparking water. The produce section then greets you. I needed avocados and celery. Prices are either comparable to what you see at grocery stores like No Frills, but the quality is better. Both produce items that I grabbed were fresh and in great condition. This grocery store carries halal items. It features a lot of South Asian products, such as Parle-G and paratha. You also see ramen and Ribena, both of which made me love shopping at this store even more. I saw everything from custard to paneer. It does sell corned beef in cans and rose water in glass bottles. Cool! The meat section is impressive. It's huge with every cut of meat that you can possibly think of. You can get food to go. There's a stall within the supermarket where you can get pizza, shawarma, and more. I paid for my produce. The woman at the checkout was extremely pleasant and nice. I paid with my debit card. This store gives you a plastic bag. I thanked her and headed to the exit. Just before you exit, there's a stall that sells desserts, ice cream, drinks, and more. I asked the woman behind the counter whether their drinks have added sugar. They don't. The store goes with the natural sweetness of their fruit or veggies. I wanted to get the sugar cane and coconut hydrating beverage. She had run out of coconut, so I got a large sugar cane drink. As she made my drink, I looked at the desserts display. There were individual portions of chocolate mousse cake and sponge cakes. You can also get milkshakes, ice cream, and more. She asked whether I wanted ice in my sugar cane drink. I said as much as the cup could fit the ice. It was perfect on a hot day. I asked the nice woman how long this supermarket has been open for. It opened on May 18th. I paid with my debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and left with my groceries and drink. The sugarcane was indeed the real deal. It was naturally sweet and yummy. I was happy with my drink. It was nice consuming it as I drove home. Whenever I was in the area to grab some dinner, there was never a supermarket close by to get a few grocery items. It's definitely more convenient now thanks to this Food World. (174)

**Review for their pick your own strawberry**…read more The price for 2018 is $6/kg, which I remembered it was $5/kg when I last went here for the 2016 strawberry season. They have a pretty large strawberry field for customers to pick from. You can either bring your own container to buy a basket from them, and they will weight your strawberries at the end to determine the cost. There is no time limit of how long you stay in the field to pick, and they have free parking on site. It appears that this year the yield was lower than usual, as the strawberries were mostly smaller than the ones I picked back in 2016. However, they still taste really good despite the smaller size. The strawberries go back fairly quickly, so you should eat them within a day or two after picking, or store them in the freezer to make smoothies. They also have other produce available for picking, which I think corn is coming up later in July. You can go on their website to see what's available and the prices. They also have a market on the other side of the street for customers to buy fresh produce from, much like a farmers market

There is also gelato and ice cream offerings. I got myself a strawberry sundae that hit the spot. I also picked up some ambrosia apples, an unique maple chipotle pepper seasoning, red pepper jelly, strawberry cream honey (!!) and a corn dip. The last thing I hesitated on until a customer said it was amazing. Sold! I bought a frozen one to survive a bit longer and I haven't tried it yet, but considering the enjoyment of everything else, I trust it will be good. My sister got some fresh corn on the cob and her whole family wished she brought home more. So if you're in the area, do yourself a favour and see what Herrie's has to offer.
