It's not as impressive as say Monticello and not as popular and informative as FDR's house not to far away, but it has its charm. Being hidden away can be an asset, as when you are at the house, it's far up the hill from the road and really quiet, so you can get a good sense of what Mr. Jay would have enjoyed in his retirement. You can feel the peacefulness and why he'd choose to live here after living in Manhattan. The tour is about an hour and there was a farmer's market set up in the adjacent lot, but otherwise there isn't a lot to see/do nearby. Still, it's worth seeing if it's not too far from you or if you have other things in the area to see.

I am the author of three books, and my third book is about the country I come from - Georgia. Because many people confuse Georgia with Russia, or with the state of Georgia, I decided to write a book to help Americans better understand my country, its history, culture, and identity. My book, Georgia after the Collapse of the Soviet Union, is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I know I am not a famous author, but I am trying to find my way. I have held book talks at community colleges, local libraries, and coffee shops. I just returned from Los Angeles, where I had a wonderful conversation with students at Glendale Community College. Usually, the process works like this: I visit libraries, introduce myself to directors, and ask if I may hold a talk there. For example, Amagansett Library had me sign a contract and organized the event professionally. With Warner Library, things were very different. At first, I sent three emails to the library director, Ms. Pacciotti, but never received a response because my emails ended up in spam. Three times I went to the library in person, and she was not there. One of the front desk workers even suggested that I file a complaint. I said no, because I did not want to begin a relationship that way. Finally, on my fourth visit, I was lucky enough to meet Ms. Pacciotti in person. It was kind of her to meet with me without an appointment, and together we scheduled my talk for May 28 at 6 p.m. She asked if I wanted to be paid, and I said no. For me, money is not the most important thing. What matters is connecting with local people, meeting my neighbors, and sharing the history and culture of my country. Two weeks before the event, I emailed her asking whether the library was promoting it. Had flyers been printed and shared? A librarian told me the event was not even on the calendar. So how were local people supposed to know about it if the library was not promoting it? I emailed the director again asking what was going on and why the event was not listed on the website, calendar, or social media pages. This is the AI era. A nice flyer and proper promotion could have been created very easily. She later apologized and sent me a simple flyer, but the event still was not properly listed anywhere on the library's website, and the library did not even order my books. I felt deeply disappointed and sad. When you are a director, I believe it is your responsibility to support your local community. I live right near the library on Woodland Avenue in Tarrytown, and honestly, I did not see much effort from her side. I felt like I was not taken seriously and that my work and passion were dismissed. What hurt me most was that after I expressed my feelings honestly, I was told that I was no longer welcome there. This is not the first closed door I have faced in life, but it still hurts. I truly wanted connection and hoped to build something meaningful with my local community. I do not believe I deserved this kind of treatment. Who is responsible for making sure local institutions treat people with professionalism and respect? Who can I write to about this experience? It's not the first time I've been in this court room. However it was the same kind experience then also. The court officers who greet you at the top of the steps is the first sign of ease. They look you in the eye and speak to you not at you. We were asked if the temperature in the court room was ok! I am thankful to all of you the attorney, officers, clerk and of course Judge Cypher who started off with a history quiz and reminded us that the frisbee was invented today! Thank you for making court a pleasant place to be.

They don't have a line to skip it; it's only one entrance & the line goes straight to the security desk but the security personnel were very helpful in making sure I was going to the right place. If you know your case, they'll know where you need to go. When you enter the courtroom, the back is designed like long benches but there are actually separate seats vs. the long seats with no divisions you'd be expecting. I have no clue if films have shot here but if they haven't, it seems like a great small town courtroom location.

Nice staff that truly cares about the youth and books that are classic and modern. This library has something I have never seen before. An entire separate wing for 0 to 10 or 11 years olds. I am impressed. When I walked in there they have two to three staff working in diffrent areas with the young children. Walk over through sliding glass door and then walk into a separate larger two floor wing. Here you find the friendliest security guard named Jerry. He sits in front of the teen's computer youth area. Then walk over to the adult area fitted with computers for the public to use (with a valid library card). Youth coordinator is fantastic. He is energetic and bringing great programs for the teens. Librarians are very sweet and always ready to help. I am very happy to call this our new home away from home.
