The staff is friendly and helpful. I like being able to borrow books throughout the Westchester library system, I have found hidden gems in films through KANOPY and I like the variety of options in book formats. We are fortunate to have Warner Library in our town. read more

Hello dear neighbors, hello dear community, My name is Tsisnami "Sissy" Sakvarlishvili, and I live in Tarrytown. I am the author of three books, and my third book is about the country I come from - Georgia. Because many people confuse Georgia with Russia, or with the state of Georgia, I decided to write a book to help Americans better understand my country, its history, culture, and identity. My book, Georgia after the Collapse of the Soviet Union, is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I know I am not a famous author, but I am trying to find my way. I have held book talks at community colleges, local libraries, and coffee shops. I just returned from Los Angeles, where I had a wonderful conversation with students at Glendale Community College. Usually, the process works like this: I visit libraries, introduce myself to directors, and ask if I may hold a talk there. For example, Amagansett Library had me sign a contract and organized the event professionally. With Warner Library, things were very different. At first, I sent three emails to the library director, Ms. Pacciotti, but never received a response because my emails ended up in spam. Three times I went to the library in person, and she was not there. One of the front desk workers even suggested that I file a complaint. I said no, because I did not want to begin a relationship that way. Finally, on my fourth visit, I was lucky enough to meet Ms. Pacciotti in person. It was kind of her to meet with me without an appointment, and together we scheduled my talk for May 28 at 6 p.m. She asked if I wanted to be paid, and I said no. For me, money is not the most important thing. What matters is connecting with local people, meeting my neighbors, and sharing the history and culture of my country. Two weeks before the event, I emailed her asking whether the library was promoting it. Had flyers been printed and shared? A librarian told me the event was not even on the calendar. So how were local people supposed to know about it if the library was not promoting it? I emailed the director again asking what was going on and why the event was not listed on the website, calendar, or social media pages. This is the AI era. A nice flyer and proper promotion could have been created very easily. She later apologized and sent me a simple flyer, but the event still was not properly listed anywhere on the library's website, and the library did not even order my books. I felt deeply disappointed and sad. When you are a director, I believe it is your responsibility to support your local community. I live right near the library on Woodland Avenue in Tarrytown, and honestly, I did not see much effort from her side. I felt like I was not taken seriously and that my work and passion were dismissed. What hurt me most was that after I expressed my feelings honestly, I was told that I was no longer welcome there. This is not the first closed door I have faced in life, but it still hurts. I truly wanted connection and hoped to build something meaningful with my local community. I do not believe I deserved this kind of treatment. Who is responsible for making sure local institutions treat people with professionalism and respect? Who can I write to about this experience? Really nice, easy going library. Located next to Patriot's park, it's a bit away from one of the main drags however that's a good thing as there's plenty of parking. Pretty good views of the river too. The park makes for a good part 2 if you're trying to entertain kids. Matter of fact, I've used the library exclusively to entertain my son, so can't really speak to the adult stuff upstairs. In terms of the kids section, it's the whole lower floor. Staff is very friendly. Book selection is good and broken out by age range. There's a bunch of puzzles and other toys in bins for smaller kids too. There is a good amount of programming for kids although we haven't tried most of it. They've recently done renovations too; hope they do the bathroom as that needs some love. All in all this is a pretty good library that is easily accessible, nice outside, and has everything inside that'd you'd normally want. read more

What a nice surprise to find such a welcoming, beautiful library that serves our new town of Sleepy Hollow, NY. It was way larger than expected and offers a long list of programs for people of all ages. I cannot wait to begin going there for volunteer English tutoring, movies, lectures and more. read more

I went to apply for a library card today and I did not like how I was treated by the lady with the pink hair at the front desk. I do not live in Westchester, but I work in Tarrytown so I brought a letter from my job confirming that I work there. The lady who attended me stated, that it was her discretion to issue me a library card because I did not live in Tarrytown. She repeated this to me multiple times and in a very condescending tone. She said it in such a way as to make me feel bad for having the audacity to apply in the first place. The library's website clearly states that anyone who lives or works in Tarrytown is eligible for a library card, and there is no mention that it is up to their discretion to issue a library card to a nonresident who works in the village. I pay thousands of dollars in taxes to New York State to be treated as if I'm applying for welfare. To add further insult to injury, she balked at my NJ driver's license and my job letter. She also demanded that I show a copy of my utility bill since I recently moved and my license has my previous address. It's very discouraging to someone who supports public libraries to be treated this way, especially considering that this day and age most things are available online and many people don't use libraries anymore. I didn't deserve that kind of treatment for attempting to get something so simple as a library card. I've had better experiences at the DMV than what I dealt with today. Even though I was able to get the card, I don't think I will end up using it since I feel very uncomfortable going back there. read more

I really like this library. It's quiet, lots of space to study or read. I'm not sure why but this place makes me want to nap...

Watch the signs for their book sales. Tons of fun, lots of books. I just caught a major sale Oct 19, 2013. Terrific selection of hardbacks, new releases, vintage books, paperbacks, CDs, books and videos for the kids and LPs! When you enter the building you are stepping back in time. Take a moment or two to sit in the reading room (on the left when you enter) it's the perfect spot to check your email, Yelp and make plans to continue exploring Tarrytown or Sleepy Hollow. On Saturday's there is a Farmers Market in Patriots Park (next door). Cute as a bug in a rug. read more

They wouldn't let me get a card! I live in Elmsford, a ten minute drive away, but can't get a card here because I have to prove I live in Tarrytown. Never encountered this at a library before. Weirdly, if I drive to the other library to get a card, I can use it at this one. Makes no sense. Very disappointed. read more

Really neat building with old architectural details. There is a nice view of the bridge & the river from the back room. The main reading areas can get a little crowded with people using wifi, but there is a (small) quiet reading room on the upper floor. They have lots of dvds available to check out, both old & new movies. read more
