My husband and I were really hopeful that our recent switch to this provider, for our children, would be worth it. Unfortunately, it really hasn't been, so far. The first appointments that I had scheduled were follow-ups for ER and urgent care visits, as our family has been sick with a few viruses and bacterial infections. For several reasons, we are only now able to get appointments for our youngest (9 months old). We are normally seen at NMCSD or Camp Pendleton, so we thought it was great to find a provider just down the street from us. They are now located near LLMCU, btw. When I called to schedule an appointment for our 9 month old, the person scheduling us couldn't seem to hide their disapproving shock when they heard that he hasn't had an appointment since he was a month old (again, due to many uncontrollable circumstances... one being that we couldn't get ahold of our on base clinic due to them being severely short staffed). I had hoped that the not-so-low-key judgment would stop there, but when I took two of my older boys for their first appointments, I was treated like I was stupid for not remembering exact dates for exact ER or urgent care visits (we have 8 kids, and it's a miracle if we remember every detail about an ER or urgent care visit). I kept getting disapproving reactions for not remembering exact names of prescribed antibiotics, off the top of my head. When I did mention the one I did remember, and told the P.A. (or whatever she was.... maybe she just wandered in and didn't really belong there) the instructions we were given, she responded in annoyed disbelief, claiming that, that medication is not prescribed that way. All I could say was that, that was, in fact, how the ER doctor prescribed it, so THAT is how my son is taking it. Every answer I gave to every question was met with some sort of skepticism or barely disguised disapproval. No, biggie, maybe it was just an off day. I NEEDED the appointment for my 9 month old, that had been scheduled for two days later. He has been sick, but also needed to catch back up on his well-baby check ups. This was also stressed to us by them (as if I had no idea). Well, we show up for his appointment, only to be told, "oopsie, we have been trying to reach you all morning to let you know that the provider is out sick, so we have to reschedule him." I checked my phone and there were no missed calls or even any voice messages. Maybe I'm crazy, but doesn't it make sense for them to LEAVE A MESSAGE if they really have been trying to get ahold of me?? Again, no evidence of missed calls from them, let alone any unopened voice messages. So, just like that, after being made to feel like a lousy mother, it's no biggie to them that my son didn't get seen. So much for it being a big deal to them! I'm not so sure that we will be returning, if this is how it's going to continue. I don't appreciate people treating me like I'm stupid or a bad mother, and then just cancelling appointments like it's no big deal. They offered to reschedule, but I'm not sure I can count on them to keep that appointment, either, so I said I will call and let them know. I feel like I've wasted my time and energy for nothing. I'm sure others have had, and will have, no problems whatsoever. If it doesn't go well, though, just know that it's not just you. read more
