Great cozy little sea food market. It's a family-run business. The owners are super nice and friendly. I love their sashimi offerings. I always get sashimi quality salmon here -- $14/lb ( price as of Dec 2023 ).

There aren't that many Japanese markets in the Oakland area. When I'm craving for the simple sashimi trays that are typically sold at Mitsuwa/Nijiya, this is my next best place to satisfy my quick sashimi pick without having to visit a Japanese restaurant. It's for those times when I just want to get in and out. Not much variety than your typical salmon, tuna and hamachi offering but what I can say it's very fresh and tasty. This place is more of a deli style shop where you pick what you want through the deli cases. They also sell uni, salmon heads and blocks of fish for you to take home to host your own sushi party. If that isn't your cup of tea, they also sell shrimp, a variety of whole fish and depending on the season crabs. They are located inside Swan's Market along the backside. Street parking can be tough depending on the day and time but still feasible.

Was looking for sashimi at an affordable price, and we found this market inside the Swan market. We bought almost 3 pounds of salmon & tuna and took it back home to devour. I turned the fish into different dishes and we ate everything. I think the quality and price was fair and I would absolutely go back in the future when I want to do sushi at home

the good enough sashimi grade fish.

Came here as a last resort for sashimi grade farmed salmon because my usual spot was closed and the heatwave had me in urgent need of a refreshing poké salad. First off, it was disheartening to see such an empty display case... but hey, when we asked for sashimi grade, they said they had it in the back. So we waited... after my partner asked for 1 pound, I suddenly took notice that the person who brought out the fish filet to be cut was not wearing a mask -- my partner was hell bent on having poké so we bought the fish anyway ‍ - Pricepoint was good... fish wasn't fishy... but I was really upset about the carelessness of the business. What was worse, is that same employee left the stall and wore his mask AFTER he was leaving... as if the stall was his private place or home and he was leaving to go out?!? WTH?!? Then!! I didn't get a photo of the other employee without a mask... but that made me even more upset! 2/3 of the people working were both not wearing masks or gloves! Praying that the mixed news and info about COVID not transferable on food holds true... cuz the poké phantom hit my partner so hard he had to have it even with the carelessness of the stall employees. Only reason they got 2 stars is cuz pricepoint is nice and fish wasn't fishy tasting... tasted fresh. Other than that, shame on them for thinking their carelessness would go unnoticed!

Very friendly and helpful. They killed and cleaned the crabs for us. We'll see how they taste, but I bet they'll be delicious!

Ask the Community - Sincere Seafood

Do they carry a live lobster?

What types of sashimi-grade fish do they carry ? What steps are taken to ensure the fish here is "sashimi grade"?

I usually go once a week for sashimi. They always have sashimi grade salmon and sometimes tuna in their case. Their freezer has everything else. I bought octopus legs frozen.

The woman at the register was very kind and gave me a heads up that they are open tomorrow as well, but they may run out of blue crabs by then. Also, right now they have a bunch of Dungeness crab. Lucky Seafood is a very small seafood market offering a variety of exotic live seafood, including live crabs. They have two tanks for the Dungeness crab, one with a larger crabs and one with smaller crabs. There is very limited street parking so try to get there early. And they only take cash. That was my first red flag, but I still supported this business. I came here to purchase live crab for the holiday season, about $300 worth, then I came back to purchase the same amount a week later for New Year's eve, just to receive the worst service I've ever experienced considering how much money I was spending. The guy got upset when I wanted to look at the crab he was trying to quickly throw in the bag without me seeing it, so he got mad and just dropped the bag on the floor and said "here you look at it!" and he walked away leaving me there with a bag of live crab to search through. I spent a lot of money at this store for the treatment that I've received and after this experience I decided it was the last time. I now go to green fish in Chinatown where they also have live seafood offerings and the customer service is much better. Lucky Seafood also smells really bad inside and green fish does not. This may be due to freshness or lack thereof. 7
