There aren't that many Japanese markets in the Oakland area. When I'm craving for the simple sashimi trays that are typically sold at Mitsuwa/Nijiya, this is my next best place to satisfy my quick sashimi pick without having to visit a Japanese restaurant. It's for those times when I just want to get in and out. Not much variety than your typical salmon, tuna and hamachi offering but what I can say it's very fresh and tasty. This place is more of a deli style shop where you pick what you want through the deli cases. They also sell uni, salmon heads and blocks of fish for you to take home to host your own sushi party. If that isn't your cup of tea, they also sell shrimp, a variety of whole fish and depending on the season crabs. They are located inside Swan's Market along the backside. Street parking can be tough depending on the day and time but still feasible. read more

What a find! Small but clean, and customer service very good, for Non-Chinese speaking shoppers. I bought live crabs from them, and they offered to crack them for me. Their prices are very reasonable. I was in and out of there in 8 mins, and got everything I wanted for my seafood Gumbo, except the oysters, which he suggested I return to get them just the day of or the day before I intend to eat them. Came here after my COVID vaccine at the Oakland Convention Center to pick up some live seafood for dinner. Sincere is located inside the Swan Market, and there's plenty of street parking outside. My mom has been coming here for years and love their sashimi grade salmon. Their seafood is super fresh and reasonable priced. I picked up some salmon and Dungeness crab for dinner. The guy helping me was friendly and following covid protocol. He offered me ice for the salmon since I was running a few more errands that day. Came here as a last resort for sashimi grade farmed salmon because my usual spot was closed and the heatwave had me in urgent need of a refreshing poké salad. First off, it was disheartening to see such an empty display case... but hey, when we asked for sashimi grade, they said they had it in the back. So we waited... after my partner asked for 1 pound, I suddenly took notice that the person who brought out the fish filet to be cut was not wearing a mask -- my partner was hell bent on having poké so we bought the fish anyway ‍ - Pricepoint was good... fish wasn't fishy... but I was really upset about the carelessness of the business. What was worse, is that same employee left the stall and wore his mask AFTER he was leaving... as if the stall was his private place or home and he was leaving to go out?!? WTH?!? Then!! I didn't get a photo of the other employee without a mask... but that made me even more upset! 2/3 of the people working were both not wearing masks or gloves! Praying that the mixed news and info about COVID not transferable on food holds true... cuz the poké phantom hit my partner so hard he had to have it even with the carelessness of the stall employees. Only reason they got 2 stars is cuz pricepoint is nice and fish wasn't fishy tasting... tasted fresh. Other than that, shame on them for thinking their carelessness would go unnoticed! read more

The fish here is super fresh and reasonably priced. They don't always have certain fish (i.e. sushi grade tuna fishi) on display, so you have to ask and they'll get it from the back fridge. The sashimi salmon is what I usually get and it's unbelievable! Today I got the striped bass which i can't wait to try. The staff are really friendly, sanitary and always wanting to help. Visited Sincere Seafood in Old Town and at first wasn't too impressed. Purchased some sashimi grade salmon(good deal at $9.99/lb) smelled fresh. I asked the employees who were working about other selections of sashimi grade fish and turns out they have a pretty decent sashimi grade selection in the freezer behind the counter. Yellowtail(half fish/skin on), escolar, octopus tentacles, ahi, albacore, izumidai which they didn't specify if it was snapper or tilapia($6/lb I'm thinking it's tilapia), Hokkaido scallops($50 bag). I was short on time so I couldn't enquirer in depth further but received a business card and definitely will be returning to unearth their full menu of the sushi grade fish/seafood they get in shipments. Negatives for me were the lack of fish on display for it being 2pm and they're open until 6pm. Also would be more informative and helpful if they had some type of board of all the product they have in their freezer w/prices and where the seafood is from and how it was caught etc. Positives are good business hours(9am-6pm)/good customer service (provide ice on request/skinned fish) and the employees I spoke with didn't talk down to me as a customer. Employees seem to be knowledgeable about product and if they weren't sure they referred to the other workers who knew the answers to the question asked. Definitely not the "hurry up and buy type" like some other seafood wholesalers I've been to around the Bay Area. ****the salmon poke I made turned out tasty. This is a fresh seafood and associated items store located in the back part of swans market. It's owned by an Asian couple from Singapore, so if you are missing a decent fish market, well here it is. It's impeccably clean, and there's tanks with some perky crabs and the occasional lobster. There is a fairly decent range of seasonings ranging from the ubiquitous old bay to a range of Singaporean choices that I'm regrettably not so familiar with. Other reviewers have noted exotica like frog legs and crawdads. I believe those days or for the most part over. They've been replaced with a small but choice selection of ocean based fish. Just the best! Oakland finest family run seafood market. Always fresh crab in season both raw and cooked. Yes, they will crack and clean. Also, the fresh fish is delicious, but not a huge selection. This place is around the corner from my home. I came here with my mom who was visiting. The woman behind the counter was very patient with all my mom's questions and the different fish she picked out to have weighed. It was our first time we tried Gasper Goo fish which the woman recommended because my mom couldn't find a whole snapper. They happily cleaned and cut up the fish to my mother's specifications and we enjoyed an amazing dinner that evening after all was said and done. :) I will do business there again. read more
