Simurdak Construction built a pole barn for me and were great to work with during the process. I would recommend them for any project.

Our experience with this company was nothing but a waste of time…read more We basically told them what we wanted to have done, we were pretty clear, upon our first meeting we were unimpressed as they missed all our points. Like covering up the Mt. Hood View with a flat patio cover. They did not provide us with any drawings that represented or matched any of our discussions. Their 3D drawings were nothing more than the Monopoly buildings with no details. Their creativity was extremely limited and it was a struggle to try to get them to listen to our needs. In the end we could not use any drawings they provided to us. They pushed us to pay for schematics before we even received a drawing we could use. When we pushed them back on this, it became clear that they wanted to farm this out to another contractor and had not intention of building it ever. We would not recommend them to others.

We have referred friends in the neighborhood who have also been extremely pleased with their work. Green Home literally saved our ass when when we noticed a huge, very concerning leak, in our roof. They promptly responded and we out within 24 hours to asses the situation. We have an expensive log-style home outside of White Salmon, that we could not risk with just anyone. They did a fantastic job, not only repairing the leak but assessing the entire house for any other construction mishaps that need to be mended. I would highly recommend them for anyone in the area! These guys are OUTSTANDING!

We hired Darryl for a construction job because he lived down the street from us and a neighbor said…read morethey were hiring him to do a large remodel job on their house as well. Darryl had a couple guys working on the job for him and he would show up for a few minutes each day, which is fine- until it wasn't. The workers were extremely slow (some on drugs!) and Darryl was supposed to be my point of contact, however he never knew what was going on. He would argue with me and even with his own guys about work that was or wasn't being done. Darryl left for vacation and nothing got done while he was gone. We asked for a meeting so that we could find out where our job was at and he showed up fists clenched and yelling! From that point on things went downhill fast. Darryl became extremely passive aggressive and the work got worse and worse. Long story short- our job took three times longer than it should have, we were given a bill that was three times more than it was quoted and were told that that is normal and we should have planned on it tripling "because that's normal for construction"- even though nothing was ever said about overages. He demanded payment within full within 24 hours and threatened to place a lien on our home. The job was only 3/4 of the way finished at this point! We had to fire Darryl and his company and hire multiple contractors to come in and fix shorty work and finish so that we could have a functioning home again. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Spoke to my neighbor and they had a similar experience- their bill also tripled- for no reason!

Customer service at this store is top notch! Needing a rug pad to give more cushion to a new family…read moreroom rug and not wanting to wait the few days to receive one from Amazon, I started calling flooring stores in Hood River. There only a handful of flooring stores and none of them stock rug pads, including Home Depot. Kat answered the phone at Swell City Carpet with a cheerful hello. After listening to my request, she told me if I placed the order before noon, their warehouse in Odell would include the pad on their delivery at 1pm, same day. What? Price was a bit higher than online but totally worth it for the convenience. Friends are coming to help move the furniture so we can put down the new rug properly and I don't want to go through the hassle again when a rug pad would arrive. This makes it a one and done. Or do it right the first time! While there I checked out the small, but well represented store. An entire section dedicated to different types of hardwood floor, tile and carpet. A section for paint and all the supplies needed if you are doing it yourself or a contractor. Plus lots of hardware store items. Located right on Cascade Avenue a few blocks east of Safeway, its an easy stop when you are running errands. Oh, and Kat even carried the rug pad to my car! Much appreciated.

Customer service here is fantastic! And they are way more than lumber; they are a hardware store…read morethat carries a great selection of inventory. I'm so happy a neighbor told me about Tum-A-Lum! Typically I drive from Mosier to Home Depot but not anymore! Tum-A-Lum has everything I need and I don't have to walk across a massive store to pick up 2 or 3 items. Seeking an Allen wrench, wallboard joint compound and a fine grain sandpaper wedge to repair old nail holes in my wall, a worker noticed me searching the aisles and immediately offered help. Within minutes I had what I came in for and then spent another 10 minutes walking around to check out the inventory. Need a new kitchen faucet? Paint supplies? Hardware for doors, picture hanging, dressers? Cabinets and tiles to remodel a bathroom or kitchen? Garden and yard tools and BBQs? Lighting, plumbing and electrical supplies? Even plants, vegetables, soil, seeds and ceramic pots of your garden in their small garden area out front.. They have have a little of everything and a lot of some things! And of course lumber. I've passed by so many times while visiting Hood River, but always assumed it was a lumber supply store for construction, not open to retail. And never realized they were also a hardware store. Located right off exit 65 on I-84 it's super convenient and they have a large parking lot. Yum-A-Lum is now my go-to place for all of my fix-it needs!
