However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.

Can't comment on design but she definitely lacks professionalism. Had been in contact with Kami…read morevia email for over a month and never showed up two different times. When she did finally show up was told she would get back to us by email in about a week with more information about the project and never heard back from her. If you're an adult with a business you would think one would have the decency to at least get back to a potential client and let them know she wouldn't be able to work with you. I found her flaky and her actions were adolescent.

He was the most knowledgeable, helpful and a great communicator. I referred to him as the "Master Designer". Also, I can't forget the installers. The entire crew was professional, on time and always working! If you want to love your closet, go with California Closets in Oregon!! Thanks for ALL the excellent work on our closet! Our master bedroom closet finally feels spacious and functional and our laundry room is a showplace. We engaged with a salesperson via the website and Laurie quickly contacted us. After a visit to our house, she cranked out 9 different drawings and three different quotes to remake our three bedroom closets and laundry nook. They had a "buy three, get one free" promotion and that made the cost a little more palatable. After seeing the drawings, we went to the SE Portland showroom near the Convention Center and that really helped our decision making. I found it important to view and touch the cabinets and finishes, and we even upgraded to a few amenities after seeing them in person. The best was the retractable ironing board for our Laundry Room. Laurie updated our quotes within 2 business days and we had a decision completed and an installation date scheduled by the end of that week. The single installer was done within 3.5 hours and did a great job. He claimed to have 20 years experience with California Closets and I can believe that by his quality work. Our master bedroom closet went from cramped to relatively spacious. We opted for drawers, some including special dividers for underwear and socks, and included several sliding holders for belts, necklaces and ties. There's even a sliding hamper with his and hers removable laundry bags. Check out the photos I added. Wow! The price is steep, but swallow hard and do the right thing for the value and usability of your house.
