A deeply disappointing experience at Frame Makers - Tacoma, WA…read more We entrusted Frame Makers with two custom framing projects, fully pre-paying and being quoted a two-week turnaround. That timeline quietly doubled to four weeks with no proactive communication or explanation. When we arrived on the promised completion date, we were told--without apology--that the frames were not ready. We followed up and were assured they would be complete the following day. Yet, upon returning once more, the frames were still not finished. Not a single phone call, update, or gesture of accountability was offered throughout this entire process. For a business that charges a clear premium for its services, the lack of professionalism and basic customer service is astonishing. Delays happen, but silence and indifference should never be part of the experience. Truly one of the most disappointing customer service encounters we've had--an unfortunate 10 out of 10 in all the wrong ways. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Frame Makers of Tacoma.

It's difficult, expensive, and time-consuming -- a soul-killing experience. I started my search at the usual hobby and art stores & also shopped on-line. I was saddened by the low quality and lack of selection at the big box chains, and their custom frames are crazy expensive. On-line was a high priced hassle. Fabio worked with me to find some "oops" frames and scraps to keep my prices low. They look great and were finished quickly. I'm never going to another frame shop as long as Fabio is here.

The owner has a cat that lives in the store, when you first walk up you will see a bunch of orange stuffed cats sitting in the window. She has a real Garfield cat. The cat is huge, the biggest I've ever seen, and his name is Squirt. LOL! The cat is a love and the owner doesn't mind you stopping in just to pay a visit to squirt. If you're down there at night after the shops closed up, usually you can tap on the window and Squirt will come strut his stuff infront of the window. I've never actually bought anything in here, but I have heard really good things about them, so if you do need a frame, go here, give the lady some business so she can buy food for her fat cat.

We compared the sample noted in the order (grayish color), and the result (almost black) and the difference was obvious. The store personnel informed me they cannot control how the color of the frame would turn out ...? They offered to re-do everything with a different wood but their selection was quite limited (and if the color isn't something that is guaranteed - what is the point to redo the work? Also, the wood in that frame wasn't completely finished and they had to stain parts of it over. The quality of frames degraded, but prices doubled up. I was very disappointed.

I worked with Hana and was immediately impressed with her intuitive, creative and learned knowledge of color theory as she helped me pick the perfect color mat. I was also impressed with the care she took in my project which required the use of spacers between the mat board/art and the glass to best show off the deckle edge of the art. In addition to a relatively large offering of ready-made frames, they also have an admirable collection of custom moldings as well. Happy to recommend this frame shop in Issaquah.
