Food: FIVE stars. So why the downgrade? The setup was confusing as we'd never been and the extra charge we incurred because of our unfamiliarity with the restaurant was a little ridiculous. So we walked in and right away you see the take away area, I saw some tables over to the left so I assumed you ordered and then took your food to the tables. So we ordered drinks and food and headed over to the tables. Once we sat a waiter came over and asked if we had gotten drinks from the takeaway I said yes then he explained we were in the restaurant but it was ok this time since we already got drinks, but that they normally cost more in the restaurant. He then came and asked if we were ready to order, I explained we'd already ordered food and if need be we could take our food to the car since we misunderstood. He said it was fine but there would be a SMALL difference in price. Since it was already awkward we stayed. The small charged turned out to be 12 pounds ... that's not small. We were able to get the drinks taken off but it was still 10 pounds more - silly! The manager did come over before the charge and said she'd work it out, but I think working it out would be taking the extra charges off all together. We then heard from another employee this happens all the time, so maybe it's a business strategy? Or get some signage! So, if you come, takeaway is the same food for less. Made sense as most diners in the restaurant were 65+ and there for the 10 pound senior special.

Yummy fish & chips. You can actually taste the fish & the breaded coating was crunchy, not overly greasy. The fries were amazing- such creamy potatoes, again not greasy. I rarely eat fish & chips because it's generally greasy & unhealthy, but this was a treat. They offer a healthier version- baked fish served with salad. Also, our waitress Daisy was so accommodating & friendly. An all around fun experience. read more

Wow, probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. We got the referral from a local resident and it did not disappoint! I'm going back for sure before I leave the UK. read more

TLDR: award-winning fish n chips, friendly staff, and a monthly gluten-free day every last Monday. Superb meal for four, under £35! 2 orders of the large prime cod fillet, fishcakes, pea fritter, chicken chunks, and a cider :D batter and tartar sauce both simple and tasty. Very friendly service and clean, spacious seating. Long queue for take away, but not surprising. Recommended! read more
