I have found them (Daniels) very helpful, and if you explain what you are trying to do, they will offer helpful suggestions. On lumber quality, theirs is far better than Lowes, so there is no need for you to hand pick. Just look at the pieces as they are being loaded for you, and if you find one wanting, they will get you another. I would much rather pay a small amount more for premium lumber, than try and sort through all the dreck on Lowes shelves to find something useful. If they don't have something, they will suggest where else you might try. If they had a bigger store, more complete selection, I would give them a perfect score. I always try them first, and the people are very helpful, if you just ask.
