We reserved a ride at the last minute during our stay at the Getaway Cabins. Cindy is a very gracious host with great stories and Cheryl, our trail guide did a great job keeping our horses Big Blue and Lilly moving along the trail. My hat got knocked off at the beginning of the ride and Cheryl went back to get it when we were done. I would never ever use this company. My three friends and I was going to MI and called them to try and make reservation. The lady answering the phone was so rude. I have never had a company be so rude to a customer. We told the lady we would not use them because of her attitude. She was the person running the place. read more

Fantastic! We had such an amazing experience and easy ride with the trail horses! Very reasonably priced and beautiful trails we were taken on. I rode horses as a child and into my adulthood, truly I can say these horses were very easy, well trained trail horses! My boyfriend that joined me has never ridden and did not have any issues or felt uneasy at any point. The horses needed little to no guidance since you follow a tour guide and they know what they're doing. This is very safe for kids and families. I love this place! We called last minute on a family vacation from out of town and they had availability right away. The horses were so sweet and well cared for. I was so nervous to ride a horse because it's been a while, but the horses were so gentle and good. Our guide was a lot of fun and if we are ever back in town, we will absolutely be coming back! we're not from michigan and we came here after seeing the stars. no one told us we need to make an appointment. we called before coming but no one responded so we had thought we can just come by, we called after seeing no one was around-- and the woman on the phone was SO rude. the first call we made, we had asked how it works and she explained and she said "you can't do it today i gave my workers the day off because you didn't make an appointment" i said okay thank you for the info and hung up. i called again thinking we can come back tomorrow after making an appt and she rudely said it's clearly raining tomorrow and they can't do it. i was so excited for the experience and wanted to try them out but after the initial call, I WOULD NOT. they need to learn there are better ways to talk to people. read more

The owner, a second generation family owned stable, is committed to providing a fun, safe guided horse riding experience. You will need to wear mask while in the paddock and mounting, but once on the trail you can remove your mask. The long, 1 hour trail, winds through fields and woods. While out we saw a rafter of wild turkeys. We did our ride in late August and the forest is filled with Oak, Maple, Ginko, Linden and Elm which are probably brilliant in the autumn. The horses are gentle and easy to ride. My family had a very enjoyable experience, likely yours also will. read more

This place was great. Our family of 4 all got to ride for an hour on the long trail ride (I recommend this instead of the 30 minute ride, since time flies and it's only $5 more). Very nice welcoming and had a horse to match our novice level of riding. (My son is 9, daughter 12 and didn't have any problems) This was the favorite family activity on our 2 week vacation (tied with atv riding, which cost 4x as much) Tip your guide and make reservations up front. Our family went riding today (our twins first time!) with the Simpsarosa Stables. What a wonderful ride we had on their trails. Mostly wooded and incredibly pretty. The horses were beautiful and calm and the guides were very informative and patient. I would recommend sunscreen, hats, pants, closed toe shoes and gratuity for the guides. Grateful for the COVID safety precautions they took with requiring masks when 6 ft of distance was not possible, cleaning and entire transaction outdoors. Nice wooded trails to ride on, and Lester Lake is beautiful! This is a good stable for either the beginner rider or the more experienced -- they allow walking, trotting, and/or cantering, depending on what the customers want. Fun place to ride! read more
