They are awesome! Carol in accounting is prompt and provides excellent customer service. José identified that we were watering too much, helped us program the system, and saved us a ton of money. Matt, the General Manager, is on top of things. We were out of town, and learned there was a leak in our irrigation system. He dropped everything, and rushed over to turn the system off. Still waiting for sprinkler system maintenance and response. Our expensive yard renovation was about 4-5 years ago. It took so many months to do that the neighbors razzed us about it, not entirely in jest, as it was a wreck for over 6 months. There were times absolutely no action was happening for weeks, lending to the jokes we were deserted by them. They started in the early spring and it was mostly completed and able to be enjoyed by Oct/Nov, so we missed the whole summer. After watching them half-hardily do the monthly maintenance for a year, I decided to do most of it myself and we moved to a as-needed yard basis and bi-annual sprinkler maintenance. It's late April 2022 and the sprinklers still are not operating this year. read more

Poor mowing. Mowing is uneven. I don't know if the problem is operator error or equipment that does not adjust for variation in terrain. But, the grass is not cut evenly. They "scalp" the sod, and the wide wheels of the heavy mower flatten the grass. The operator does not overlap, so we end up with uncut rows and some areas longer than others. See photos read more

I called Simply Yards in June and scheduled a consultation with Eli Kraft, their landscape designer and general manager. Eli was nice and had some really creative ideas for our awkward spaces that we had been scratching our heads about. I told him our budget was only around 5k and we would have to pick and choose which project we could afford. It seemed like a nice visit and we expected to get an estimate and work with them. However, we never heard from Simply Yards again. I waited three weeks before I emailed Eli to ask him if he stilled planned to give us an estimate. No response. I emailed again a week later. No response. I called their office and talked to the receptionist and she said she would have him call us. No response. I left Eli a voicemail. No response. It has now been almost a month and a half and they haven't even had the courtesy to call us or email us back. If they are too busy for a 5k job, that's fine, but to completely ignore potential customers just seems stupid. I will make sure to let our friends and family know to stay away from Simply Yards. We've lived in Anacortes for 35 years and this is the first time we've had a local business treat us so poorly. read more

I read previous reviews in 2016 -- I think they have a new owner now. I had a large dinner party with 12 guests scheduled and my husband decided to dig up and put a water line to our barn -- 3 weeks prior. He made a big mess with torn up dirt. I called Mark, Owner, Simply Yards and had a guy at our house within 24 hours and then loaded in 10 yards of bark. The gentlemen hand raked all the new dirt/compost and seeded and fertilized in about 5 hours. The customer service and final work product was excellent and the grass is growing all in. I have a home in Anacortes and I needed two services, 1.) Maintenance for the yard as is and 2.) Landscaping. So my conversation began with Marilyn, she said that someone would go over to my address and inspect the yard. At this time, I had an urgency to get the yard cleaned up. She told me that it would be by the end of the next business day that she would come back with a quote. I waited about a week, nothing. So I hired another company. Eventually though Marilyn, did get back to me through email and I had told her I already hired another company to do the clean up because I had not heard from her. I said I did want to pursue receiving a quote so that I can have regular maintenance for the whole year. The manager had gone out to the property and they came back with a quote stating that my yard would be serviced every two weeks, for X amount of dollars a month, amounting to whatever total at the end of the year. During email conversation (mainly me asking questions about what maintenance would include), the manager brought up option 2 to service the home every week for twice the amount of money. He said that is what my yard would truly benefit from. As a customer, I thought I had the permission to say, no thanks, I don't want to pay the extra money and that because it IS such a small yard every week is not something I am interested in. Well when I said that, Marilyn said sorry option 1 is not available to you LOL. You have to go with option 2, more frequent visits and more money. Why was I offered the initial quote??? I still said OK- well can we also talk about landscaping. I would like 1 company to take care of both aspects so may I get a quote for that? Well after another week of we are working on it, yesterday she emailed asking if I wanted to sign on the maintenance, I again said I was still waiting on landscaping quote to come back. Today she emailed and said they just didn't have the man-power to work on my house..at all! She literally just emailed me yesterday. After reading the last two reviews I obviously like to give the benefit of the doubt, but I am SO blessed that I did not go all the way through and contract them, I feel like my story would have been the same, and I was saved! We experienced exactly what tis previous review wrote: It seemed like a nice visit with Eli as we planned a $10,000 landscape project. The project was to be done in 3 weeks, starting last June, 2015. But when they were to started the sidewalk/patio - they told us that no one had even ordered the material and we would have to wait another 4 weeks. I waited three weeks before I emailed Eli to ask him if he stilled planned to start. No response. I emailed again a week later. No response. I called their office and talked to the receptionist and she said she would have him call us. No response. I left Eli a voicemail. No response. It had now been almost a month and a half and they didn't even had the courtesy to call us or email us back. We had 3 sets of company coming for the summer - that why we started contacting Simply yards in April and to have it done in June. - so it was very important to us have our landscaping (@ $10,000) completed when Simply Yards said they would have it done. Over July and August they got 80% done, but we had to contact them many, many times to have them come and finish. They finished in September. I ask if they were hourly and they said yes at $20 and then one of them came out in the late afternoon even though I said mornings only because I work graveyard shifts, and quoted me a set rate to mow my yard for $300. Much more than an hourly rate. He said that he charged differently to the morning rate, though I had specifically asked about mornings only because of my work hours.
